Action manhwa adaptations are always fun. They might not always be good story wise, but the fights are always hype asf, and usually have damn good animation.

It’s similar in certain concepts but it’s a regression story and the MC is way more unhinged than Jinwoo.

@Arseen It looks like Solo leveling was thrown through ai. In no way does this look "a bit similar". It looks extremely similar to levels so uncanny that it is hard to watch without feeling nauseous.

Ngl, i didn't finish this manwha unlike solo leveling which i did finish, but it is by far more interesting in it's power system than Solo Leveling ever was, its closer to that of chainsawman's or JJK than solo leveling in that aspect, where the powers of artifacts are based of the beliefs people have surounding the mythical artifact or the person/entity its related to, the story isn't something great but it was probably more interesting than Solo Leveling given it didn't bait you into thinking stuff was important xd.

This one was lots of fun even if it was a returner story where the guy is a walking encyclopedia of where all the good loot is.

The dungeons popping on actual places with buildings indicating what mythology stuff you might find inside, like an astec temple just spawning in a city for example rather than portals.

Overall if Solo Leveling which i think is like C tier Manwha gets an adaptation, this one that is a B tier manwha totally deserves an adaptation too ngl.

(Yea, i'm using tiers like these silly manhwa use for their power systems but use to qualify them, the only S tier manwha is Great Estate Developer)

This feels like the opposite nature of SL.
Tomb Raider goes Evil route.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Lol, I care very little if its not original. The only important thing is either improve what its imitating or doing its own route. Tired of shows being overhyped for "muh deep, original plot", the Takopii and Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite (Orb) massive hype was very annoying which make Frieren's overhype look tame in comparasion. Nothing wrong with following trends. Solo Leveling is waaaay too overhated. I hope more series like Solo Leveling are made and even more Isekai.

Unfortunately, this doesn't have that.

The manga leaned way too hard on comedy, the main character's petty antics, and the action stuff is extremely poor. It's mostly just the main character pulling some artifact logical reversal, with next to no fighting.

The first few chapters (and soon episodes) seem promising but it goes downhill very fast.

For anyone wondering, this is absolutely nothing like Solo Leveling or related vibes. It isn't even remotely similar. This series should seriously have the comedy genre tag.

If you want a story where the MC is a troll that just runs around causing as much chaos while giving zero f's as possible, with a even more chaos causing female heroine, that has almost zero actual fights and is just focused on the MC being petty and doing whatever then you might like this. Just be warned the story is considered to be incredibly inconsistently written. This is kind of a turn off your brain type series.

Also, just to be clear this can actually be worth watching for the first season, or maybe the first half. It does actually start decent, but goes south pretty fast but probably not before late or end of season 1 for how fast anime's adaptations progress.

Arseen said:

No, Solo Leveling came out first and had gained tremendous popularity before this did. This began releasing later the same year and the author clearly tried to cash in on Solo Leveling's art at the time. It was often initially regarded as the next Solo Leveling but it ended up being nothing like it.

It's unfortunate that it had a really good premise, but the author seemed confused what to do which is why the series is so frequently dropped and gets complaints about writing inconsistencies.

There is rumor that Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint may be seeing an anime adaptation release in 2027.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with it, but it was releasing a bit after Solo Leveling, which was of course still popular in its own right at the time on-going. Imo, it was the better, by miles, of the two though I enjoy both.

It actually features somewhat similar vibes, specifically the survival and world being in danger stuff, with dungeon like events but more elaborate and not merely just dungeons. It also is really gritty, mostly serious though not always, and underdog MC ends up surprising everyone as a total power house. Both have game like elements, too. In terms of peak moments, it easily eclipses Solo Leveling's depending on what you like. The power scaling is much larger in this one, too, eventually reaching the level of gods, planet destroying powers, and other shenanigans. It features a very substantial cast, too, that is actually meaningfully fleshed out and broadly utilized, to a standout degree.

The story likes to cook setting things up for big incidents though and is not just constant back to back action of the main character owning everything so those types of fans may not get the same enjoyment as they would Solo Leveling's more action oriented edgy hype rush. While it has far bigger epic moments, it doesn't quite have the constant showiness and flair of Solo Leveling. I'd say part of it fundamentally boils down to scale. Solo Leveling is far smaller scale and progresses very rapidly in a short timeline compared to ORV.

Anyways, that's the only one I know of coming up that is a good manhwa to adapt. Psyren might also be good, but I read it so long ago I don't remember much other than post apocalyptic story. And I guess if it counts, Ghost in the Shell with its trailers of a more accurate manga adaptation, kind of a whole Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood kind of situation I guess.

@Markis86 Imma be real with you Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint very much looks like another Solo Leveling surrogate. Not the type of manhwa I had in mind. I'd love something that isn't just shounenbrained to be adapted. Annarasumanara, Bastard, Aisopos, Regarding Death, basically anything by Hongjacga or Kim Keum-suk... In contrast the moment anything like "power scaling" enters conversation about the series it's basically a death sentence for its quality.

@abystoma2 Fortunately, that isn't an issue. It is not.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is a very different type of story. It's only fundamental basis is game like elements, some type of dungeon (or game) scenarios (much broader than dungeons actually), and sudden monster / end of the world themes.

It has action elements, but focuses a lot more on plot, logic, setting, thriller and mystery elements, breaking expectations, and intellectual writing. The plot, use of characters, settings, lore, world building all vastly outstrip Solo Leveling in both quality and scale. If you want a story that has intelligent writing this would be one of those. It does not rely on strictly flashy action scenes to appeal. It also heavily utilizes its supporting cast members rather than hyper focusing on just the main character, though he gets plenty of room to standout.

As the situations can be really unfair and extreme to the main character, he has to use his bits of future knowledge and wits to come up with ways to control and manipulate the situation at both a local level and a grand scheme level.

In terms of power scaling the story avoids the usual issues with it because of how it expands, and the fact it doesn't bs about power levels. You're not getting left field blitz by this sudden oh there are actually Nation Rank hunters or... these are the three strongest, but no here are actually the real strongest, but no here is the true strongest... maybe... type scenarios. Instead, you know the power levels properly from the get go. You're not being trolled with bs reveals. It also properly segregates and manages the power scaling so it doesn't logically collapse on itself, but I don't want to spoil the story. If part of the concern is that the game elements equate to potential power scaling issues or that it follows any similarities to how Solo Leveling did things, it does not. In fact, the game like elements could technically be ripped out entirely, but if I said anything further that would be spoiling things.

Simply, Omniscient Reader is not a story of mindless action, showboating, and an overpowered main character, nor does it have the issues with power scaling plot holes and inconsistencies of other writings.

However, the list you gave is quite unique. Honestly, other than older anime those kind of works usually just aren't adapted nowadays because they're too niche, unfortunately. Maybe as AI progresses we can see stuff like this from independent creators in a couple of years, though, that couldn't normally make such an animated series at scale.

I can't really find an anime that is remotely similar in nature, or quality, much less scale to it though to give any comparison examples of what to expect since it actually completely surpasses the general works out there. The closest example of quality I can give is probably Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, to which it should compete with but may arguably seriously surpass. It's pretty much a leading class modern manga/manhwa works. It also makes me extremely doubtful it will ever be properly adapted because it's scale means it would need like 8-9 seasons, minimal, which is just impossibly unlikely. The short is, this is very popular not because it's strictly the best for everyone, as taste matters, but in terms of writing its up there as one of the best written manhwa due to specifically its writing being quality. One of the strongest things going for it is its ability to constantly subvert expectations in very satisfying, refreshing, and not repetitive ways. This is, of course, within its set of genre, because you wouldn't compare this to a drama, a romance, or comedy and the likes of course.

Also, in terms of art, yes, it looks similar because it's drawn by the same studio.

@Markis86 Look, you obviously like the series and that's fine and all, and I haven't read Omniscient Reader yet so you might be true, but this is how people talked about Tower of God too and that one was geniuely painful to read through. I'm just geniuely distrustful of praises of this type of manhwa as they essentially never were accurate, from my experience.
