Yeah, wish it didn't have the prequel baggage too, though glad they were upfront about it in advance and unless they somehow strain it to unbelievable degrees it looks like Daito will actually be killing people and doing yakuza stuff. Besides that pumped to try out the new combat, and absolutely adore the idea of going through the different eras.

Haven't played Kiwami 3, though have a good idea of what they changed storywise. With all the discourse surrounding the whole thing with content cuts and that casting choice, I can at least say it did one positive that we have less people pretending the OG 3 was bad now.

Yeah, it's not the worst, but with the way things went would have been if it ended with Part 1. Also seen it done better in other series, one that finished not too long ago, and used it about halfway through instead. Maybe not exactly the same, but with quite a few other similarities to CSM, such as protags that can get fucked up thanks to regen, monsters based on concepts, and MC focus switch, can't help but compare them and think about how it did it better.

It's just too bad this ended up as another Beastars for me where the second half started off strong, but faltered, and taking both halves together I can't really call it a favourite anymore. Probably already accepted that on some level a while ago, since I had a backlog of chapters I finally pushed myself to start when I heard it was ending. On the bright side it made room for me to add Elusive Samurai into the list, which managed to turn what should have been a bad end into a bittersweet one, and that's when it had to follow history. The other series I mentioned could have potentially made it in too, so that's a nice reminder there's always other potentially better stuff out there.

So uh, how about that Chainsaw Man ending?

Homie, you should watch Aura, peak shit.

Replayed Death Stranding before I get to 2, and man, snow boarding down a mountain to deliver a pizza was a truly kino moment. Went for the platinum and put in more than double hours I did on my first playthrough. Kinda forgot how MGS4-esque it felt, speaking of which the MGS callback mission in the Director's Cut was a nice surprise when I stumbled on it. And now that I've played SH4, the nightmare's in Sam's room reminded me of it.

I know exactly what you mean about picking up too many seasonals, it gets draining and unmotivating. Now I do a much stricter selection when the season starts, and even then I still end up with some boring shows. I write down a "maybe" list and wait to see what happens by the end of the season, turns out I give up on 90% of that list because everything turns out disappointing.
I never strayed too far as you did, but for years anime hasn't come close to gaming anymore ever again. How about you, still gaming as much as before at least? I remember I played the whole of Blazblue because of you lol

We've been getting quite a few gems in the last years, like Takopi and Orb. Frieren has taken the #1 and #2 spots on MAL for a good reason. Mushoku Tensei has been the best isekai ever made. Boku no Hero is finally over after 28 years. Shingeki no Kyojin has given us the most disappointing ending since Game of Thrones. China has started producing anime. Anime movies have begun airing on movie theaters even in the gordforsaken hellhole I live in. The world is healing.

LMAO
I haven't talked to anyone here on MAL in such a long time.

Time sure flies way too fucking fast. My like has been everywhere since then, but right now mostly for the better. Things sure were shit back then, I had no friends, no girlfriend and all my projects were failing.

I haven't been focusing at all on my anime backlog, but me and my girlfriend always follow a few seasonal shows. I spend most of my free time on gaming, though. I'm playing Black Myth Wukong right now, the plot is ass but the gameplay is dope.

How about you? Is life still treating you the same?

I've been dreading their possible end since the Visions of Mana studio got closed. I'm hoping all the other studios they've shutdown has given GM a bit more leeway.

Some news I didn't see is that we're getting another live action adaptation. I'm not sure what the crossover part entails exactly, sounds to me more like it's using the Nihon Toitsu name like part of an anthology series, rather than having the characters meet or whatever, but then I know nothing about the series beyond what's in the article. Already looks more interesting than the Amazon series at any rate, but can it reach the highs of the stage play?

Well, it finally happened. Hey, at least that means more of my boy Rikiya.... fuck, they changed him. Guess they don't want him to share a VA with Yuta, especially when he uses his likeness. Mine Gaiden looks like it has a bit of meat on it, and seems like we may actually play a yakuza who does yakuza things for once.

Wasn't expecting to wake up to news of new Suda51 game, but I more than welcome it.
ReaperCreeper Apr 29, 2025 4:40 AM
Yeah, a pretty whatever story, not that I had any particular expectations for it, and I felt it was way more side content focused. But hey, was still fun and unironically pulling "the friends we made along the way" at the end of the Devil Flags was based. Still would have been nice to get something more in tone with that post-credits scene, need them to bring more of that to the next game. Also again with the Judgement cameos still hoping for 3 and the North Star stuff makes me wonder if they'll ever try something like that again for another franchise.

Silver Case and 25th Ward are games I really want to replay soon. Like it's been a few years since I last played them but I still find myself constantly thinking about scenes from them. I've held off for a while to let some details get a bit more vague in my memory, but also because I was sorta holding out hope for a FSR remake, and translations for Twilight/Moonlight Syndrome. FSR would probably be a while since in an interview not too long ago Suda was basically "Oh yeah, I still want to do that eventually", but I could just go through the DS version again anyway. Just googling Twilight/Moonlight now they actually have translations being worked on fairly recently, but you know, not gonna get my hopes up until the finished thing is out or at like 80% anyway. Looking at screenshots of them all I might even be able to get through them at my JP level with a dictionary on tab, though I'd want to try that out with some other games I don't care about fully grasping first. But leaving all that aside I think I'm gonna give in and give SC and 2thW a replay sometime this year anyway, they're worth multiple replays.

Also on the translation front just last night I found out Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special had one drop last month. So that's one I gotta hop on soon.

Was nice that Pirates finally gave us a Mad Dog style that's actually fun to use. Also cool that Nishida and Minami returned from the forgotten character purgatory.
