Mixed Feelings
TL:DR
Short and cute, retroactively ruined at the very end by creepiness.

Story: 3/10
It's not amazingly complex or deep but it's a cute little story of finding family with some decent comedy. There's not much to discuss about the story itself except that the cute story of a tutor's relationship with his student is retroactively made really creepy by the author's note at the end stating outright that the man is a lolicon which makes a lot of the cute moments or Coco's crush on Nidell read a lot different. It kind of ruins the manga for me.

Character: 6/10
The characters aren't very complicated, as you'd expect from ...

Mixed Feelings
TL:DR
Crazy psychedelic art and an interesting dark fantasy concept but the execution is a complete let down.

Story: 5/10
The manga is mostly a sort of episodic story with vignettes of different situations, with the same two main characters and an attempt at an overarching plot.

The overarching arc of the manga is the wizard's Howcuttle hunt for a cure to his cursed hunger and the child Beni's quest to find a mysterious figure from her past - and of course how the relationship between the two develops. Unfortunately nothing really happens towards either of their goals. However, Howcuttle does start to care about Beni but this is ...

TL:DR
A hidden gem, mixes office comedy and genuine military fiction and manages to pull it off with endearing characters and interesting world building, highly recommend.

Story: 9/10
You might be surprised to see what seems like simple comedy manga to be rated so high but looks are deceiving, this manga is a true hidden gem. It's this strange mix of bureaucratic office comedy and military fiction played-straight that almost shouldn't work but the author pulls it off beautifully, I was laughing one chapter and then in shock the next. To be clear the vast majority of the manga is light hearted comedy but there are some chapters ...

[Warning]
nudity, graphic violence, torture

TL:DR
A thrilling and action-packed mystery, with deep (but not particularly endearing) characters and shocking twists. Possibly too many twists.

Story: 7/10
This is a great mystery, with many twists that will keep the reader constantly on edge. It's great at building tension for the dangerous situations our everyman protagonist finds himself in, who manages to be clever while still being believable. The mystery was engrossing and kept me coming back for more to discover just what was going on.

The manga has surprisingly good visual comedy, which makes for a good breather from the very dark circumstances of the plot.

Tenju no Kuni (Manga) add
TL:DR
A sweet and laid-back slice-of-life combining a simple, fluffy romance with scenes of life in 18th century Tibet. I wholeheartedly recommend reading this manga.

Story: 7/10
The epitome of slice-of-life with no actual conflicts and no drama. What this manga does have is endearing characters, a cute romance and very interesting insights into a place and time period not frequently covered in manga or western media.

It's not really about medicine despite the male protagonist being a doctor, though there is some of that, but more of general ways of life and culture in 18th century Tibet, which was fascinating and delivered by blending it seamlessly with the ...

TL:DR
A surprisingly complex little story about a little girl (re)finding a family, along with the people who grow with her

Story: 7/10
I came into the manga expecting a simple story of a little girl finding a father figure but it went in a surprisingly different direction. The kid, Rinko, is on more of an equal position to the guy, Haruno. While he's superficially kind, he learns to truly care while being with the kid and learns what's happening with her family. Rinko in exchange gets to feel what a family is like.

It's quite heart warming and more emotionally complex than I first expected. It covers abuse ...

Trigger Warnings
Suicide, self-harm, bullying

TL:DR
A shockingly deep manhwa, covering so many topics along with a pretty cute romance. Endearing, believable characters round out a well-written plot. Highly recommend.

Story: 9/10
The plot is split into four parts, each mainly following a new set of characters but with the previous characters still playing important roles and having their own arcs. In this way, the cast can grow slowly, with the reader getting to know them in small batches.

The first half of the initial part is mostly a standard (but very good!) school rom-com manga, though we get hints that something deeper is under the surface. From there, it gets ...

TL:DR
Overly indulgent wish-fulfilment manga with simplistic, one-note characters and a too-perfect protagonist. Entertaining enough if you want undemanding feel-good stuff but not very satisfying.

Story: 5/10
It's a bog-standard wish-fulfilment shoujo fare (yes, I know it's a manhwa), you can predict basically every beat of the story from the beginning. Practically the whole manwha is just fluff, Leslie finds a family of characters that fawn over her constantly with no personality of their own other than protecting and caring for her.

The first main conflict, the fight against Leslie's evil family, is simply boring. It's an effortless curb-stomp where the MC's adopted family wins handily. The second conflict ...

TL:DR
Decent romance, likable characters and a surprising amount of action

Story: 7/10
First things first: this is not a weird fetish manga like I was expecting from the genderbending premise. Surprisingly there's also no fanservice. In fact, the genderbending premise is played very straight rather than as the butt of jokes. I think it's a quite interesting exploration of the meaning of masculinity/femininity and challenges conventional gender roles as you may expect given the premise. Nothing especially challenging or new for the modern western reader like myself, though I imagine it was very new for 1999s Japan.

One thing to get out of the way, the relationship between ...

TL:DR
Cute, cozy story of a young witch girl growing up. Fun characters and good art with a little mystery to add some spice.

Story: 7/10
A sweet coming-of-age story of a little witch girl, who's world changes after meeting a talking wolf named Gwyn.

It's is wonderful to see Aria go from a shy recluse content to stay in her little world forever to her making friends with other charming characters, discovering the outside and finding a dream to work towards. Also lots of food and cooking. Such a cosy manga.

It's not an especially complex story but there is a little undercurrent of mystery in Gwyn's origin.
