Stand By Me Doraemon is one of those rare films that quietly disarms you. It doesn’t force nostalgia on you, it doesn’t beg for tears and it certainly doesn’t rely only on brand power yet it still manages to leave a deep emotional impact. What makes this even more surprising, at least for me, is the fact that Doraemon was never my childhood anime.

For most people from my generation, Doraemon is inseparable from childhood memories. For me, it wasn’t. I never followed the series, never watched full episodes growing up. I knew about its existence and it's characters, and had seen a few random scenes ...

Mixed Feelings
Let me start with the good things. The animation in this movie is absolutely stunning. There's not a single scene where you'll feel like it could have looked better. Some shots are so beautiful, you might want to take a screenshot and set it as your wallpaper. The scale, ambition, and vision are huge.

The second thing I liked was the comedy. It's genuinely funny and made me laugh many times. But the placement of the comedy is a bit off. Sometimes a serious or emotional scene is suddenly interrupted by a joke, which ruins the mood. The comedy itself isn't bad, it just shows up ...

So I finally sat down and watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam from 1979, the granddaddy of robot anime and the starting point of a massive franchise that still hasn’t stopped growing. Going in, I knew it was going to be an old show with obvious limitations, but I was curious to see how well it held up beyond just its historical importance.

First off, I absolutely loved the worldbuilding and the tone. It’s a deeply influential series, not just the space setting, but the way it blends political tension, war and human drama. For a show made in the late '70s, Mobile Suit Gundam ...

Another (Anime) add
Another is a really interesting anime. I probably would've liked it more if it was a fast-paced movie instead of a 12-episode series, because the pacing is very slow.

Another is an anime that wears the horror and mystery tags proudly, but whether it lives up to either is another story. While it starts with a chilling atmosphere and a mysterious premise, the series slowly spirals into a muddled mix of repetitive shock value and lackluster storytelling.

The narrative centers around an ominous curse and a class surrounded by inexplicable tragedies. It sounds intriguing, and at first, it is, but the intrigue quickly fades as the mystery ...

I actually enjoyed A Couple of Cuckoos, not because it’s good, but just because it’s kind of fun sometimes. Most of the jokes aren’t even that funny, but my bar for comedy is so low that I found myself smiling anyway. Like, I genuinely laugh at repetitive and unfunny stuff, so it’s not hard to see why this anime worked for me on some level.
The animation’s alright, not amazing, but not bad either. And the OST is Totally forgettable.
That said, the writing is honestly terrible. The characters are super poorly written. Not a single one is actually likable and none of them have any real ...

Mixed Feelings
This anime seriously feels like it was made by two completely different people. One was trying to create a 10/10 masterpiece, and the other was just throwing random drama and bad writing in for no reason. One moment, I’m really into the story and connecting with the characters and then the next moment, everything just falls apart and the characters start acting super unlikeable.

There’s one character in particular I couldn’t stand: Yuuri Makita. She is so annoying, man. At first, I thought maybe I was being too harsh on her, but nope, she kept doing things that just made me more and more irritated. Every ...

Kaze Tachinu (Anime) add
It was a really great movie in the first half. It was a 10/10 for me. But after the protagonist finally confesses his love, the movie doesn't stay the same. It becomes very boring after that and loses the touch that had me hooked in the first place, but I will still highly recommend it. The animation is gorgeous, especially that earthquake scene and all the crowd scenes. All the characters are very well written, especially the protagonist. It is very emotional at times and you might cry watching it. Give this movie a try, you might like it more than I did.

The character designs felt a bit weird and slightly annoying at times, but they weren’t terrible. However, the storyboarding and direction were excellent. The OST was good, and the animation was absolutely stunning. I’m not sure about the historical accuracy of the film, nor do I plan to look into it. I watched this movie purely for the animation, and I thoroughly enjoyed it—that’s what matters to me.

Originally, I rated it a 7, but I’ve always wanted to watch a nearly 3-hour-long animated movie. At 2 hours and 48 minutes, this came close enough. Additionally, most Chinese animated films and series I’ve seen tend to ...

Megumi Ishitani’s Cinematic Masterpiece

I was left with chills in almost every scene, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The blend of emotion, action, and storytelling was absolutely beautiful, reminding me of exactly why I love this series so much. The marines, in particular, stood out for me. The reanimation of Marineford was visually stunning, and seeing Oars Jr. in that heartbreaking moment hit hard.

The Straw Hats brought their signature humor, adding a refreshing contrast to the heavier themes. What really struck me was how we were treated to a brief but powerful revisit of the Marineford war, a pivotal arc for ...
