I had high hopes for this. The plot sounded interesting and it held a rather high score on here. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. This is likely more my fault than the films, but nevertheless here is my review.
The animation in this film is excellent and to get it out of the way now, is getting a 9/10. The characters have excellent design and are original. The world's look great too. Both the beast world and the human world have their own colour variations with the human world seeming darker and full of pessimism and the beats world lighter and optimistic.
...
The limited fight scenes are incredibly fluid and all round is almost as solid as you will get on the animation front.
Music wise it was average. Maybe I am critical to a fault when it comes to music in anime. Maybe being a musicians makes be pay attention more. I don't know, all I do know, rightly or wrongly, is this film was average on this front. It's fine, its there, popping up every now and again doing what it needs to. 6/10
The story is an interesting one. It has its really great moment but sometimes goes a little flat. The last 30 mins too were disappointing for me. There is one 'oh damn' moment but that quickly becomes a 'oh nevemind' moment. The film ends mainly in the human world, with some mad shit happening that transpires, no human took a picture or video and just shrugged off like it was nothing which is a little odd. I'm giving the story a 7/10
This gives us a total score of a 7/10 which I believe is fair, you might not after reading this and watching and think I've been too harsh. If this is the case, write a review and post it. It's good fun.

I'll shall get this over with quick, I'm not sure Wicked City is a good movie. It's a movie for sure, and it has a story, animation and music, but is any of it any good?
Well, story wise no. It's not. Nothing really happens to be honest. when anything does actually happen, it does t really last either giving zero weight to the moments. There are many better animes from the 80s that have way more interesting story lines. There is a twist at the end. Suprise suprise, I didn't really care about it. It's also very highly sexualised, to an extent whereby I am
...
convinced it was completely pointless. Finally on the story, the film is called Wicked City, yet we know very little and see very little of this Wicked City. It's just 3 people, sometimes 2, in 1 of 3 places. So story wise, it's getting a 4/10
Music is good, for me who likes synth based music of this time. This however does mean I am biased in this regard but, I'm staying biased, otherwise, this film is doomed for a very low score indeed. It does have nice little bits here and there. It's not really a score either as the music is sparse. It just pops up every now and again and reminds you that you are watching a film that is rather firmly from the 80s. 6/10
Animation. Well, for late 80s it's very basic. I'm cutting it zero slack as there could have been better animation here in my opinion. I have seen better. Last 80s too had a higher level than this. Regardless however, pre 2000s anime has a wonderful charm and darkness to it. This however does not. I don't really know how to explain it but everything seemed quite solid. Nothing moved realistically. I can't really describe it to be honest, which isn't helpful in a review, but it's the best I can do. One thing is for certain is it's not great. 4/10
Summary is, it's crap. It's a crap film with no story poor animation and very little music. It has gore and is over sexualised for literally no reason. The average here is 4.6 from my scores above. This means Wicked Shitty is getting a 4/10. Sorry not sorry

I found this rather interesting. I'm not however going to sit here and pretend I knew what the message was or how it related to me in any way, I'm going to sit here as a passive viewer that genuinely just thought it was great.
The animation is great. It's all hand drawn and takes you on a rather interesting journey. Its premise is that with every sip of coffee, something changes and by the end of this incredibly short piece, it's turned into somewhat of a crazy trip. I thought the animation was great and I'm giving it a 7/10
The music is superb. Not much
...
more to say. The choice of music here is captivating. Again, I'm not going to pretend I know who wrote it. All I know is it's great.
Normally my third category is story. It's a man drinking coffee and things change every drink. I won't be judging on story
Music is superb 9/10 and visuals are 7/10 looks like this oddity smashed an 8/10

One thing is for certain about Penguin Highway is it is a kids film and also Japan, is it normal in your country for adults to just spend time with children and their parents to just not care? Anyway, despite this open question, it's a pretty good film with a nice message.
The story is definitely different and paced very nicely. The characters are also very well written. The children actually really do actually like children which is contrary to most anime with children that essentially act like or are even more mature than the adults. As I said in my opening paragraph, the show has
...
a nice message of perseverance, achieving your dreams and managing relationships. It's fun at times, it's emotional at times and has enough mild peril to keep excitement. Great story for the younger viewers. 7/10
The animation is solid too. Character designs are nice and the world looks great. There are also things that happen later in the story that I can't really mention but these moments are also well animation. It's a solid display. Don't get me wrong, it's not mind blowing to say the least, but it's still presented great, delivers the story very well and is very nice to look at. Again it's a 7/10.
Music is also a nice 7/10. It provides nice support to the story. In a similar vein to the animation, it too does a fine job that does all it needs too with this quite relaxing story of discovery, working together and having fun doing it
In summary this is a great film that I would recommend to the younger audience. It's still an enjoyable watch for an adult I just thing the younger would appreciate it much more. Still a great film, good writing and looks lovely. It is a solid 7/10

Inferno Cop. He is fire, but his anime isn't quite as fire. Nevertheless, it's still a very enjoyable watch. It's made by the same people as Ninja Slayer from Animation, which I honestly think is a masterpiece (on this topic, I will listen to no other opinion) sadly, it's not as good. The real question here is how close to its bother in terms of quality.
Animation. I use that word loosely. It's barely animated. Despite how crap the animation is, just like Ninja Slayer, it's brilliant. I found myself just smiling because of this rediculous way of animating. Weirdly, it never gets boring. You
...
would have thought that it would because tedious pretty quick but with every passing 3 min episode, you just want to see more of the madness. I would give the animation a 8/10.
Story wise it's all a little blah. There are complaints about Ninja Slayer being too try hard as far as story is concerned and Inferno Cop being better. Honestly I don't know how one can watch both and come to this conclusion. Ninja Slayer has an actual story and this is just a bit of nonsense. Don't get me wrong, it will still make you laugh, multiple times, but there is little to show for story. I would give it a 6/10
Music is where it falls massively short on its brother. It's alright. There is little I can say about it beyond it's incredibly average. 5/10
In summary, objectively speaking, it's not the best and it's a 6/10. Setting that to one side it would still recommend watching. The episodes are so short that you may as well watch it. It is funny, not as funny as Ninja Slayer, it's not a well written, as well animated or sounds as good as Ninja Slayer, but that doesn't matter really. It's still worth a watch.

Steamboy was a frustrating watch to be honest. This has been on my list for such a long time with me waiting for the right moment to watch it. Well, I finally watched it and as above, it was frustrating. Here is why
Starting with the animation. I can't say a bad word here. It was, to be honest, flawless. It's a beautifully animated steampunk world. This might be the finished example of steampunk in animation I have ever seen. The animation inside of the steam castle, at times, blows you away. At best it's either making you watch in awe or at worst making you
...
watching still in awe just to a lesser extent. It's excellent. It's a 10/10
Music I thought was practically non existent. I'm likely completely incorrect but I just came aware remembering nothing of the music. I'm aware this film had a rather high budget and is one of the most expensive anime films of all time. I am now also aware all of this budget went on animation. Now, I'm not saying there weren't any music, of course there was, but I remember none of it, I can't even remember a single note I heard. So, this means I'm giving the music a 3/10
I believe from googling, that this film cost $22m to make. That is a significant amount of money, even today. That $22m definitely provided unbelievable animation. Turns out though, doesn't matter how much you spend, it doesn't mean you'll get a good score and a good script. This is a 2h film and it felt quite rushed. There is very little character development and Ray flops around aimlessly as to who he wishes to align to with the smallest amount of supporting evidence. The characters are all a little bit annoying. I actually watched the dub and sub and let me tell you. Regarding the dub, I'm from Yorkshire, for those of you that don't know, that is connected to Lancashire (knobs) anyway, in the dub, there are attempts at regional accents as the main characters are either from Yorkshire or Lancashire. At first, I was quite happy but the more the film past the more these regional accents attempts started to sound like soulless AI. The script is garbage in both but my god is the dub terrible. It honestly becomes insufferable. As for the actual story well, there's just nothing to it really. There's steam, there's weapons and there are people that want to win this weird war that isn't explained. There are just people fighting against each other and it's all really odd to be honest. 4/10
Well, in summary, for me this $22m anime gets a very well deserved 5/10. Meanwhile, we have Fog Hill that was originally made by 6 people....... Enough said I guess.

People giving this a 10 might possibly be the wildest thing I've ever seen. I watched this because of one of my friends on here had and it looked interesting. There isn't much I can really say on this to be honest. It's an animation of someone driving a car with a load of madness being cleaned? Is it cleaned? I don't know. Let's say cleaned off of the windscreen. That's it. It's seconds in run time. So, given there is literally nothing I can really say about it, good or bad, it has a 5/10. It's kind of pointless to be honest but it's
...
not garbage. I don't know guys. Watch it if you like, it won't do you any harm.

What a lovely suprise this was. To be clear upfront, this is not your typical anime film. Despite that, it's really rather brilliant.
Let's start at the animation. It is excellent. I'll clear this up straight away, it's a 10/10. One particular scene that stood out was before the final performance of the film, there is a moment when the camera is moving around the complex where all the people are talking about Inu-oh and it's incredible. It's not your standard anime style either which is incredibly refreshing. It gets everything right. Every single frame is perfect and exactly what it should be. The
...
performance scenes also deserve a specific mention. There are incredibly captivating and quite moving at times. The animation alone is enough to keep you engaged through the film, it's that good that the music and story could be garbage and it still be a brilliant watch. Good think is though the story and music are well, they are....
Story, wow. It has a similar concept to Dororo, incredibly similar in fact except instead of having no limbs etc the body is completely disfigured of Inu-oh. This comparison for me mattered little to not at all. I don't know which story came first, I know Dororo was in the 60s and I can't find any date for Inu Oh (I did only spend 10 seconds and 2 Google searches mind) but really, it doesn't matter. The story is excellent. It is uplifting, inspiring and equally heartbreaking. I could literally watch it again straight away. I can't really say too much about the story, not because I have no words to say, just because I don't want to spoil it and it's very simple in premise so it wouldn't be hard to spoil it. Simple in premise is made be though, it is superb in it's presentation 10/10
Finally, the music. I'm annoyed. Really. Because, and this is going to seem VERY picky, but as you can see so far, we are tracking a perfect score and simply because I felt one single solitary piece of music went on a little too long, the music is getting a 9/10. I must say though, despite my insuriating critique here, it is excellent. One thing not mentioned in my story paragraph which I have in the animation one is it's uniqueness. Here I am mentioning it a second time in music. I don't think Ive watched an anime that has such a different tone musically compared to others. It's great, brilliant even. Sadly, despite it being so, you can have too much of a good thing and thus I am annoyed as this was so so close to a perfect 10/10.
Ultimately, this is one of the best anime films Ive ever seen. It's up there for me with Your Name and A Silent Voice. It's definitely a must watch. Bravo Inu-Oh

I don't normally swear in my reviews so, I shall apologise in advance. This show, is not the worst show I've seen but my goodness is it shit.
Let's get these good bits out of the way. Animation is good. It is really hard to appreciate it at times however, given that the show is shit, but still, it's very good when you can look past it. Weirdly though, the action sequences, that are shit, animation quality drops in standard. What was a little frustrating too, given that the story is shit, are the moments where there is nothing happening, like a character opening and
...
then eating and ice-cream, are so obviously attempts to say 'ooh look at this smooth realistic human animation' and sadly, it's really annoying. What doesn't help though is that the story is shit. Anyway, animation as far as skill is concerned is great, but as
far as presenting that skill is not the best 6/10.
Music, unlike the story, which is shit, is excellent for the most part. Really nice atmosphere created through the sound design that does all it can to save this show, desperately trying so so hard, to polish the turd that is the story, the shit story, but doesn't make it shine enough to make it enjoyable. Nevertheless, the music is great and if the story wasn't so shit, it would have less work to do. I would give the music and sound design an 8.
Now the story. Have to be honest, it's amazing.....amazingly shit. My god, what in all that is holy is this story even doing. Dead character design, absolutely zero character development, no shitting idea what the characters were called, I STILL don't know what actually happened here. I'm baffled. Never before have I come away from a show with so many questions about what happened. I have watched this show, intently, with squinted eyes, leaning forward with my best concentration face on and I STILL have no idea why anyone on this planet felt this story needed to be animated. Nothing happens, nothing is explained and you come away from the show, honestly, emptier as a human as a result. IT.IS.SHIT. 1/10
Anyway, the show overall is shit. The aggregated score is 5 for me. This is the first time I feel I have been cheated by maths. I don't want this to be a 5. Because this show, and say it with me, IS SHIT. Don't watch it. I feel it may actually reduce your life span, funnily enough, after watching this, you'll be happy if it did.
(Can't believe this show was my 100th review!!!)

It's been on hold for quite some time. So much so, I just started from the beginning. This show has a lot of supporters, some of which think this is a 10/10 and the others, well, they aren't delusional. It certainly has some great qualities but, I believe carries an average on here it doesn't deserve (currently 8.5).
The animation is definitely above average but certainly not a 10/10. It has really good character designs, and the sword based (chainsaw based) characters in combat are animated very well. The devils themselves, particularly in the earlier episodes are quite boring. There are around 6 proper
...
fight sequences, which is pretty descent for the number of episodes (from memory anyway). From these 5 I would say 4 were a missed opportunity. Again though, it's not terrible hy any means, I just don't see how this show can be a 10/10 when we all know the animation isn't alone. There is also a few moments where it shifts to a 3D perspective. The first two of these are done really well, the moment on train towards the end though, not so much. It makes it feel like it's a completely different animation style to the rest of the show. 7/10.
Story is again underwhelming. Our main protagonist are tolerable, Denji in particular has his moments of insufferability. Interestingly through, he has moments of being a badass so it's a tough one. I'm not sure if I like him or not. The pacing of the story told is however very good. There is no element of the story where it seems rushed. The best moments in the story really start from when the life sentence convicts are released from prison. I say this because the episode number fails me. This is the moment for me the story picked up and had some great emotional moments, exciting moments and really kept you glued to it until you see the outcomes. As I said above, the pacing was great, but until the section I mentioned in my earlier point, it was doing a great job of pacing a boring storyline. Still, I'd give this a confident 7/10 in the story department.
The worst part is the music. I say worst, it's. It terrible, just the weakest part of this show. It's all a little unexciting. No moment stood out to me, and as a musician who enjoys and actively looks out for, music that adds to the dynamic of the show and carries the emotions, this show didn't really have anything to write home about. So I'm giving the music a 5/10 as a respectable average that I believe is rather fair.
All of the above brings us to an average of 6/10 as I round down. I would still recommend this show. Most people don't have my objectivity and just watch to enjoy, which despite being a 6/10, I took still enjoyed. It does however, have a lot of weaknesses that it really shouldn't and certainly could be better.
