Kagurabachi

Ngl these two series are somewhat similar in their whole idea of how they portray conflict just based on different fighting mediums. Also the art techniques used are almost similar. Anyways, I feel if you like JJK you'll probably like Kagurabachi or at least not regret the decision to read it.

The story isn't similar actually, but the thing that I think is pretty similar is the panelling. Both panelling are very cinematic and very creative.

Kimetsu no Yaiba addpermalink

Main characters in both of these two stories are male teenagers who want to, among others things, avenge their fallen relatives and get revenge. To achieve that, they become swordsmen fighting with katana and using special powers to fight their enemies (in Kimetsu no Yaiba's case those powers are tied with Breathing techniques, while in Kagurabachi's case - with blades enchanted with magic). Both manga series feature blood and gore during the action scenes.

Sakamoto Days addpermalink

Both have AMAZING action and fights. The cast is just top tier, there are so many characters you could have as favourites and remember along side the protagonist and antagonists.
Both have various clans and organisations.
Unnatural physical abilities.
Slight gore.
Memorable and HYPE panels, also both MCs are strategic in their fights, personality wise they are different but in battle they show a few similarities.

Mujina into the Deep addpermalink

Awesome action packed stories heavily focused on swords. Kagurabachi also has magic while Mujina also has sci-fi/cyberpunk elements. Both offer amazing swordfighting action in very engaging worlds. Both are also new ongoing series that are (for now) in their earlier stages, so jump in now and enjoy the ride!

The Legend of the Northern Blade addpermalink

From Weakest to one of the strongest. Not same world: Northern Blade is based on murim but kagurabachi is based on urban fantasy. Both main characters use sword. Protecting legacy.

Northern Blade (Manhwa) is coloured meanwhile Kagurabachi (Manga) is not.

Roku no Meiyaku addpermalink

Both have a guy fighting a Yakuza organization with swords because they killed somebody close to them, Roku no Meiyaku has less magic but still, its kinda like if Kagurabachi was a oneshot.

Both offer amazing action, fluid art, interesting and engaging worldbuilding, yet have vastly different approaches to things. Both are also the first fully serialized manga of their respective young authors and despite their lack of experience, both already show an astonishing level of quality. Both revolve around elite swordsmen carrying emotionally loaded blades.
Chihiro and Guts are both driven by loss and rage after catastrophic violence reshapes their lives.
Kagurabachi runs in a shonen magazine but it carries heavy brutality and grief that feels similar to Berserk.
Both series have great cinematic combat panels with exaggerated momentum and shattered bodies.
Neither protagonist survives emotionally alone forever. Allies slowly become emotional anchors against isolation.
Kagurabachi is fast paced and berserk is more slow paced.
The setting are different

Just a feeling but I think that Kagurabachi's author is influenced by Tokyo Ghoul manga.
Maybe because:
the vibes
similarity of some character designs and character traits
various parties and organizations
Some fight scenes
the gore

- Fisheye angles that are quite unusual
- Unrestrained violence in battles, quite bloody for a shounen, at least
- Narrative more relevant to Western audiences due to the author being a fan of American action films
- Drama that often focuses on the connections between characters (family or not)
- Villains groups/parties and a government-afilliated organinzation 
- Lots of referencies to Japanese culture in the character, powers, weapons, etc.
- Main theme is a kind of japanese fighting style + magical powers

Afro Samurai addpermalink

Both are badass stories about powerful swordsmen seeking revenge for the deaths of their fathers. A common trope for sure, but the overlap is a bit more significant here.

Granted Afro Samurai is quite bite sized compared to Kagurabachi's grander worldbuilding, but both offer amazing art, great action and are firmly carried by their compelling protagonists. It's also interesting how both of them reevaluate their goals as the stories progress.
