Yes of course, I’m on 3 packs a day now. I also keep dying and resetting since watching re:zero and also keep helping kids get over puberty syndrome since I saw Rascal series. I refuse to watch One Piece cos I’m seasick tho. I’m currently searching underground stations for dismembered vampires for a bit of Araragi power but it’s been 10 years now and no luck. Everyone I know that smokes and has managed to not become delusional so far has told me that cigarettes have habit-forming elements and quitting smoking is near-impossible levels of difficult, with relapses being common.

So no, even with all the positive light this show seems to put on smoking, I have not started smoking and I will not.

As for supermarkets, where else do people go for daily needs?

In Japan supermarkets or convenience stores look cozy, in the west the staff wanna throw you out and beat you up..and in some places both staffs and customers carry around firearms in the stores. The cashier, or the checkout girl are armed with double barrel shotguns ..so scary

Nope. The only anime that actually encouraged me to make a life changing decision is ‘Only Yesterday’. Was having a quarter life crisis and contemplated switching careers and leaving my stable job for something different. Ended up taking the plunge after watching that movie and it happily has worked out. Can’t say SBtSWY has encouraged me to make a decision that would have a negative effect on my health. LOL!

Smoking and drugs are personally two lines for me I’m not crossing. Then again, now I have alcohol every so often, though most of the time I can’t be arsed as most of the time the bitterness? of alcohol (or maybe the ethanol?) just makes the drink taste worse… and for the other fact that due to various taxes it’s about the same cost as a main meal, so why bother.

Cigarettes are also very expensive, and in terms of health I don’t want to get addicted, nor have my lungs fill up, have my teeth yellow and get gum disease etc. even though the smoke looks cool, the closest I shall get is blowing air out in a cold morning, where it looks like fog spewing out.

At least to my understanding, even though I wasn’t really close friends with anyone, nobody I knew in high school smoked, and it was fairly rare out of the people I interacted with in uni and work. So I was surprised to every so often, see people I worked with, around same age as me, vape in the dorm (leaves a certain smell), or go to the balcony during a house party (or hangout) and just smoke a cigarette… in 2026. Not idk 1996. My mind had placed as something dying out, only clung to by the old and or middle aged already addicted.
But nope, there are still young people picking it up. Not sure whether it is still declining or not, but still some people smoke. Not a fan of irl (even though this anime is like comfort food to me)

(ok sure ibuprofen could be a “drug” but that’s not what I mean, and I’m not sure the difference between hard drugs, soft drugs, and pills nobody bats an eye at)
