I thought I wouldn't like this show because of GoHand's odd production style, but I do believe they've found the exact literary work to suit their animation style. To that end this is one of their most engaging, and most accessible works yet.

I have noticed some folks complain about the pacing of the episodes which I do understand. Still I believe at 26 episodes and at its current pace the show is intended as a shorter adventure more focused on its presentation. It's also based on video game logic/mechanics, and so If you aren't into any of that you will find less to enjoy. But I do believe the show is quite enjoyable if it's perfectly suited to the viewers taste.

With that in mind, Ruche is fricken adorable. And her Seiyu, Wakayama Shion is simply a joy to listen to!

Go GoHands! You have finally found a middle ground between enjoyable story telling and experimental animation, at least with me!

I’ve always enjoyed their non-conventional style and crazy hair, it’s not better than any other style but is a nice change once every season or 2. It worked well in a SOL romance (Megane) and is great fun here in an action show, same as the insane aliens and magical girls thing.
The wasted time is annoying but I suspect there’s a corporate reason behind that. Still a great show to me.

Yeah, I like the manga (the bits already translated at least) so I was looking forward to the anime and a bit disappointed at first, especially with all the "cut scenes" and "video game style", but you're right, taking it at face value makes it enjoyable.

XD

I hope people just look at the positive aspects of the show. I do think they have something good going with this one despite some of the downsides.

@DevOpsElfMage That is interesting to learn that the video game style bits isn't so as much of an emphasis in the original work. So then this was a GoHands pivot... very interesting, but I believe it should work in their favor, for now at least. Lets hope it stays consistent and perhaps expands a bit further to a more steady pace.

I really like this show! the way he strategizes on how to make a lower class build into something great is something I’ve really taken a liking too. The ends of the episodes seem to always end and my brain is dreading the week wait for the next one. I’m going to enjoy seeing how this goes

They could have done 26 episodes that lasted 10 minutes each and it would be less tedious to watch

Sorry, I was referring to the look, backgrounds, sound. Skill paths, statuses and levels are the same plot ingredients in the manga.

@iesyaa What story? The runtime so far has been 90% yapping about game mechanics.(not counting the flashbacks and recaps)
The story hasn't progressed much since the first episode.
Right now, it's 'grinding dungeons for a book' for past 3 episodes.
Before that, it's 'fighting my first dungeon full of recaps'.

The story hasn't actually moved an inch. The initial hook was about his family disowning him so he gotta prove himself.
So far, nothing of significance has actually happened.

Summary of the events so far:

He does a dungeon.
He recruits a party member.
He does another dungeon.

Dragon Ball amounts of recap. No wonder this studio gets everything done on time. Each new week half their work is already done.

@LeaseDue I think he means the script for the show. Not so much the plot thus far, although for some that is still enough if the script and the rest of the work holds up.

In terms of overarching story, not much has happened. It's episode 6 and we are still in the build up phase, HAHA. So I can understand the displeasure some feel.

I simply feel annoyed when watching this. The camerawork (hair work shots one after another). 50% recap of the previous episode, the previous minute, and using the same scenes repeatedly within the same episode, then some preview. The characters being cliche would be okay, but somehow they managed to make them over the top in that regard. The fight scenes in which you can't see shit. The expressions (but that is perhaps just looks weird because of the cgi). And so on. I like crappy isekai shows. But this one is too much even for me. (i will continue to watch it though, maybe i am a masochist after all).

Dude, give it another episode. You are missing out.
The Heroine properly showed up in Episode 6 and it got better in Episode 7.
And the next episodes would get better if GoHands keep it up or even get better.
I'm a Manga Reader which I just read 3 weeks ago. So I know the source was good.

@Vargr
How many episodes have you watched? It tones down in the next episodes.
About those recaps? Please don't forget it's main network is a T.V. Station.
Of course there would be one. Blame CruncyRoll and other streaming sites for not cleaning that up.

@AnonZXM 7, but as i've said, that isn't the only issue here. And i didn't notice it toning down, but the opposite.

I hate the over reactions to everything, and the WHAAAAAAAT?????? cliche, I dropped begining after the end for this reason too.
I'm giving a few more EPs for this one, but hope it gets better.

I like this show, it's stupid fun with some decent voiceacting.
I'd rate it a 7/10 atm - but the long recaps every episode is souring my experience of it a bit and will probably affect my final verdict of it.

Your lost dude. As I said I'm a Manga reader and the way they adapt it will just gonna be fine.
The only problem is waste of runtime because of that 3 Minute recap.
The static stock background is just tolerable. But if that's an issue to some then that's just nitpicking.
You can definitely tell it's improving because the episodes discussions goes over 100 replies.
The source is Above Average. Only watching this since SLF is delayed till 2027.

@MinscS2 Agreed! this is a fun show with some interesting animation designs. And I am a fan of
Wakayama, Shion. She is quite fun as Ruche!

@AnonZXM Nah, i don't suppose i'd loose anything if i dropped it. Alas, i've said i will continue watching. That doesn't make it good though, more like somewhat tolerable.
Again, it isn't a 3 minute re-cap. Half the runtime consists of remembering, re-cap of the previous episode, re-cap of the previous minute. Constantly using the exact same scenes/shots. And i don't think i've seen so many hair works close-ups in all the shows i've seen, combined. And as it was mentioned slightly further up. The overreaction to everything (which i described as over the top) is annoying as hell.
I am not trying to convince anyone no to watch it. But to praise the studio for this...

Don't be like that. That recap of previous episode was a classic bloat. Others do it too.
And that "recap" on mid episode? Blame the platform you are streaming it from.
CrunchyRoll supposed to clean that mess up. But they didn't.
You should know there's tons of commercials where that gets aired.
That hair moving/waving and dumb camera angles? That's called GoHands style, it's their identity.
And in Mid episode the commercial is the longest that's why there's recap for T.V. Broadcast.
If you are that picky and had enough just drop it. People will still watch it and get over a hundred comments on most episodes.
Unlike other's can't even get over 50 replies per episode discussion.

@AnonZXM As i've said previously, i am not trying to convince anyone to not watch it. You are happy with it, fine. But to say it is great is, ugh. Anyway. Measuring quality by the amount of comments is a weird one if you ask me. Smartphone has hundreds of comments on some of the episodes, and that thing is horrendous. Crappy isekai is my guilty pleasure, kind of like liking the smell of the exhaust of a gasoline car. But these guys are literally drinking the juice.

Did I say it's great at all? Don't tell me you mix me up with the OP.

Never mind just drop it if you must because you can't tolerate it.

@LordKirkis

The Tank Class/Guardian Class is THE most important role in any fantasy setting. It's a role I fantasize myself being as if I were to reincarnate . Plate armor head to toe, a tower shield that nobody else can even carry without struggling, and a long 1 handed weapon to harass your enemy with, slowing chipping away at their health and stamina.

An unstoppable force that truly is a walking castle. One that specializes in not only the art of defense, but in the art of opportunity and counter strikes. The ability to outlast ANY enemy is a testament to their resilience and scale. Against a true master of defense, any 1v1 versus a tank ? yea you're not winning it period. And before anyone says it, yes even a mage, at least in my version of a tank, they'd have the ability to absorb, deflect, and even reflect magical abilities with specialized shield skills.

However you basically never see it in anime. It's always the mages, always the blade-masters and sometimes the rogues. I understand those other classes can be more "showy" and more "flashy" but it's overdone so much that I just groan when I see another mage that has a fuck ton of mana. So when this anime came around and not only highlighted a tank but also made it incredibly engaging I was ecstatic. I personally love the animation and art as it's incredibly unique and is visually pleasing to look at imo.

BUT, the pacing....the amount of recap and the insistence on playing a scene out longer than it needs to is REALLY holding this anime back. I was hoping this was just a short hiccup by the studio trying to play catch up with production delays and issues. However it's evident it's intentional and it's here to stay....
