Why am I not surprised that the latest episode about marriage involved an elf?

Funny how this came together and that one of the maids was also involved in trying to kill her. Basically, we got an investigative case this episode involving a marriage. Ariane is smarter than she looks.

This season has been incredibly random so far, and it almost feels like it is taking a detour from the main story. The episodes have still been fun, but they definitely have more of a filler-like feel compared to the first season.

I also did not expect an entire episode centred around the human and elf couple who were only briefly mentioned before. They seemed like such minor characters that I never imagined they would get this much focus.

@phantomfandom He didn't always kill them before either. Repulsive ones like those that were raping the women in the first episode of S1 he sure did kill, but other times it was inconsistent. Either way it's probably best if he kills the repulsive bandits.

@Teisen1991 The mixing of the audio in general is a bit different this season. I personally don't prefer it but it's also not something that'll make the season unwatchable either. The change in studio probably also introduced a change in audio related staff but I haven't looked into it yet.

If I got gifted a skeleton (hopefully fake...sorry Arc) dripped out in a Pharaoh's outfit and on top of a golden throne...let's say I would be quite pleased with the new room decor.
Kinda refreshing to see a nobleman actually treating an elven woman correctly and being mad in love...compared to the usual we see in this show of the opposite.

Anyway, the episode was aite, kinda filler vibes but hey getting to see Arc and Ariane again I'm not complaining (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

@Suginami85 yeah. It's so frustrating. At this point I just wanna drop it, there is no hope. The LN content is so good too, why replace it with terrible filler. Like who can't you just adapt source material and not try to invent something out of thin air -_-

And then I swear the content that is actually gonna get adapted gonna get rushed like s1. I really should drop it, it's too bad for my health, I get too upset.

Sorry for rant -_-

I wish they would just stick to the LN or Manga story instead of making original episodes. The first episode was completely made up. This episode just took some elements from LN, but most of it is made up.

We could have Arc and Ariane investigating in the city, have Ariane chop some limbs off of bad guys, Arc accidentally killing them, then jumping on and tearing through ships in dock instead of this.

The LN chapter of this episode also had some foreshadowing for future story, which this episode completely missed with its made up poison plot, instead of focusing on slavery.

My guess is they didn't want Arc to go to the hot spring in first episode, where pretty important information is revealed. So they're doing filler episodes first and Arc gets to the hot spring in episode 3 or 4.

@Eva_PhoenixAnime honestly I'm not even sure if that will fix it. More than anything, they've completely changed the entire tone of the show - the characters are so jarringly different now too. I don't have an issue with these character dynamics normally, but to completely shift preexisting characters so severely is such a bizarre choice. The episodes just feel so rushed at the moment too.

The poisoner recovering at the start gave away the culprit fairly early on (and I'm surprised that they didn't instantly question that) but fun episode nonetheless.

I can't remember from season one whether there's an overall story or if the MC motivation has a driving motivation in this show, but it's fun as a "Saturday morning cartoon" sort of vibe, with standalone stories so far.

I enjoyed the detective work in this second episode too.

Also the Prince commenting on how his elf bride will never age was kind of funny.

Ah so this is more anime original content, I had a feeling it was because this seemed like a side quest, well I do feel bad for source readers because I’m sure they were really looking forward to seeing some LN content in anime form, but just like the first episode, I did enjoy this as an anime only. We got to see Arc and Ariane taking on two roles in this episode, bodyguards and detectives, to catch whoever is trying to assassinate the beautiful elven wife of Lord Petros, Toreasa. Poor Arc’s leads amounted to nothing except for maybe amusement lol, but Ariane was right on the money with Petros’ father doing something from within his confinement, W Arc disguise when he infiltrated the room btw lol, no one would ever expect a real life deadhead in this fantasy world.

And while it seemed like the situation was done after they thwarted Petros’ father’s planned attack, the real culprit of the snake and poison incidents turned out to be none other than the food tester we heard about before, not a bad twist for a mystery contained in one episode imo, I wasn’t sus of her until Toreasa was shown meeting her at her home, it just seemed like something didn’t feel right. And thankfully Ariane smelled bullshit afoot and put a stop to it, and I guess it’s a good thing Arc saved the culprit lady from ending her own life, but I hope she got jailed off screen or something because it would be a shame if she just got let go to see the world change.

And now we’re being teased on another villain coming up who doesn’t discriminate when it comes to kidnapping from different races, I’m interested in where this leads but I hope for the sake of source readers, it’s actually adapting the LN this time lol.

I somewhat hate the direction of this anime. It's like when a game keep giving you side quest that has nothing to do with the main quest just to pad your gameplay time.

This is a lot worse than I expected tbh. With the first two episodes being filler it seems they aim to pad out the second season so the third season fits better. But I think it would've been better if they just adapted the remaining material into the second season with a movie to finish it off.

And I strongly dislike the fact that he doesn't kill the bandits, that straight up goes against Arc's character.

Disappointing.

From a story point of view, I guess that's why the Ninja branched off to go to her home village.

Having a Ninja around to help would have made this episode's job a lot easier.

Having read the WN awhile ago I don't believe this was filler. There are some portions of the novel that have these breaks used as transition stories (although this story should've connected better to the next arc)

A human-elf marriage is interesting especially his reasoning; "My wife will remain beautiful until I die." I dunno dying together with your wife while holding hands seems more romantic to me.

Body guard duty and investigation of the assassin culprit! Lemme guess, it's the butler or the maids.

Never let Arc investigate anything or he'll interrogate you roughly even if you're innocent 🤣🤣🤣 but hey Arc did find the culprit!

Arcs disguise is so cringe it's killing me XDDDD

So it was the previous lord? The bandits he sent were so weak.

Annnnd it was the maid as expected under the previous lords order. So she poisoned herself to bait the elf.

Decent episode, but is this anime just a series of side quests until they finally reach the lake that's supposed to restore the protagonist to his original organic body before it decomposed? If so, I ain't complaining, I can't wait for more.

@Skuvan No. Arc getting to the spring to cure himself is basically just a side quest (we should get there probably ep. 3 or 4). The main storyline (from LN/manga) has to do with kidnapping/enslaving elves and beastfolk.

@Eterion Oh. Please tell me he actually gets to keep his organic body permanently, not just for a limited time, only for it to disappear again in what's supposed to be a funny gag. That would really infuriate me.
