Wow, so much emotions from the show. From despising Marina for being a bully to such an extent to being shocked at her death then to learning how she too was suffering. On the other hand, Shizuka went from being the victim, to becoming twisted and manipulative, suffering nonetheless.

At the end, it's sad to see Marina still got scarred in the face though it appears to be only one instead of two in the original future. But good thing that Naoki and his family didn't get dragged into any trouble this time.

Takopi changed so little yet it's all too significant to the three kids. I feel both sad and strangely satisfied. What an anime.

Episode 5 and 6 were the weakest. "Everyone is bad" uh huh... Shizuka is just as bad as Marina... not!

Marina is a bully whose own violence caused murder in two timelines. Shizuka still hung herself two times. In comparison- Shizuka's weird comments about stomachs or whatever, the lackluster "manipulation" (no scheming or blackmail) was an underwhelming villainy. She's just pitiful. Failed by absolutely everyone, even her author.

Takopi's sacrifice didn't so much hurt bc it was Takopi, it's Shizuka's desperation. Right after talking about how no one loves her? Not even her parents? A child? Where's her dog? Tears!

I'm glad the family issues weren't fixed. Saves the whole thing, it's believable. Azuma's brother actually being likeable was a surprise and has my favorite scene in the series.

The concept is bananas and really awesome in a stupid way. Like most unpolished gems are, it's a bit messy but a strong solid 6 for me.

That F-Bomb being dropped by Shizuka when she was venting to Takopi caught me by surprise. Completely valid though...she's been given such a short end of the stick in her life.

These kids that Takopi wanted to make happy, were dealing with major difficulties that are completely out of scope for a cute space squid to handle. Yet through using all of his happiness power, he somehow found a way to create a new future where they can smile through the tough times.

I enjoyed the happy ending, and my take away is that even though people who you should be able to rely upon may not be reliable, you should find comfort in your peers to get you through hardship. Definitely required a change of mindset in our main trio to accomplish this, but Takopi's words stuck with them and allowed it to happen.

This was a great story.

A pretty short but entertaining show. It was also quite refreshing to watch since I've been seeing some pretty bad anime lately. The animation was great and Takopi was the goat.
8/10. I really liked the Music and the Dub was quite good.
It all ending after crying to a doodle of Takopi together was definitely a copout ending though.

the ed song was just banger.

the amount of emotions packed in just 6 eps... and the topics this show covers, like damn.
Sometimes it felt like i was just watching what goes down in my home everyday... literally.

So, 10/10 added to favourite?

Gosh, what an ending, I just barely held back the tears, absolutely beautiful anime overall.
Perfect animation with nice soundtracks and superb voice acting for the dub.

I only wish this was longer with more development for the cast and more growth overall, especially for Takopi, but regardless of that, it's best the story wasn't stretched and dragged out, it's still a perfect 10/10 for me, for originality, animation, the darkness and unfiltered portrayal of human beings at their worst and most importantly the escape from the darkness by finding someone who we can talk to and share those burdens with and to know that we're not truly alone, that we all can find happiness no matter how broken we or the people around us are.

This show taught me how complex humans and human emotions can be, we can never truly understand one another unless we talk to each other, with talking there is hope for a brighter and better tomorrow, and beyond the trauma and abuse there will be happiness to follow in the end.

I'm so glad there was some hope in the end for the kids, thank you Takopi, you did your best, you really did, your sacrifice wasn't in vain, you made a difference, RIP.

Man this anime is soo emotional and good and I really feel bad for Takopi, the ending is good, but I am kinda bummed out that we don't get to see Naoki in the end with Shizuka and Marina and Marina also lowkey still blaming Shizuka in the end for her family issues, also I still don't really like Marina that much but it is what it is, I just gotta make this one of my 10/10 anime despite all that because of how relatable it is with bullying and family issues

This was such a ride. Never has an anime made me feel so emotional in such a short period of time. It made me cry so many times and dragged up so many sad memories. 2916 was the year my cousin committed suicide. I thought about that every single episode of this anime. Life is fucked up yet we have to keep on living because that's all we can do. I hope anyone that feels like ending it all seeks the help they need. Continue living and continue smiling pi.

My god, six episodes in and Takopii is still the same annoying mess he was at the start. He finally got his memories back last episode, and yet he's still going around saying things like, "DoN't YoU WaNna SeE ShIzUkA HaPPy?" Like seriously? Please for the lvoe of god, FUCKING STOP. At least Azuma showed some actual development. Meanwhile, Takopii hasn’t changed a bit, still clinging to this version of Shizuka that barely even feels like Shizuka anymore.

But ofc, since it’s the final episode and we have to force a happy ending, we somehow manage to change the mind of a literal murderer in under three minutes, because that totally makes sense. And then we reset the timeline, effectively making everything that happened completely pointless. What a joke. Oh, and somehow Marina and Shizuka magically remember Takopii after all that, just conveniently enough to give us a feel-good bonding moment at the end.

God, the show was already awful, but this ending honestly rivals disasters like Darling in the FranXX, truly. And the similarities are hard to ignore, both are carried almost entirely by their animation, with everything else falling apart. That said, I’m still genuinely curious to see where the studio goes from here. ENISHIYA is easily one of the most interesting new companies to emerge this decade. I just hope their next project actually lives up to their potential instead of being another frustrating waste of talent.

I never know how to feel with these bittersweet anime. I would say I "enjoyed" it but in a different type of way than a more traditional anime. The content of this anime was very shocking and "realistic" showing things like suicide, bullying, and abuse (in all forms). I think in terms of the anime itself I would give it an 9-9.5 because like I said, bittersweet anime like this are hard for me to gauge because it leaves me feeling a sense of loss despite it having a "happy" ending. That said, I would give the message this anime is portraying a 10. It does a great job explaining that not one person is evil nor good, they are both. Just because a character is doing something bad, doesn't make them inherently a bad person as well as the person who is shown as good, might not be all good but also have bad to them. The anime is also trying to portray that hurt people, hurt people. You might think that saving one person will fix everything but as we are shown, it is way more complex than that. In this case, killing one person brought happiness to one person but stole the chance of happiness for another. I'm sure there are more lessons to take away from this anime which I might come back and edit this post to complete I just completed the anime so I still need time to really take all this information in.

One thing is for certain and that is that Takopi is adorable. I watched the dub and really liked all of the voice actors that were casted but Takopi was just so cute. Everything about him, his design, his voice, his personality, and his innocence. While his innocence caused many misunderstandings and issues, he was finally about to remember everything and truly learn about the cruelties of the real world and was able to come up with a plan to fix everything. He left such an impact on Shizuka, Marina, and Azuma that even when he wasn't physically present in that timeline, he was able to change their lives completely and find the happiest outcome possible!

It's a good ending, im glad takopi didn't just find a magical way to fix their parents and solve their problems. Would've ruined the point. But the ending was unclear. Could've been better but it' works atleast.

I think I liked the series the most during the first 4 or 5 episodes tho. Then it became less intriguing to me , although still good

the first half this small pink ball was annoying af, he triggered me hard, ngl - but since EP 3 (my fav EP) it became better since it wasn't that much about the pink ball trying to understand, but about the background stories and that story twist
the end was kinda meh, but very emotional, so overall i enjoyed it

@Happy_Doro no, thats not the conclusion bruh. its "just try to be happy, we can't do anything about other peoples actions but we can control our own and influence others with happiness and kindness". If they did not remember about takopi shizuka wouldve died or seriously injured. really making me wanna say "we can't, even, READ" but have a nice day.

This anime had such a hard fall off after episode 2. Like damn the last 4 episodes are just misery porn and bad usage of time travel. I guess it was engaging up to about episode 4 so it deserves a decent rating for that but jesus what a let down.

Wow, that was such wasted potential!! There was some consistency in the story, but after episode 3 it's just shockvalue for the sake of it. It's actually a talent to make the main character be more hated than the bully.

I'm kinda glad this misery rollercoaster has only 6 episodes. It got really hard to stomach all those shitty adults with their over the top toxicity towards their children. The last episode had me crying out a lot. Takopii did mature a bit in the end, realizing his mistakes and he got Shizuka to actually cope with her situation in a healthier way. I'm not sure who is the target audience for this, I believe it to be young adults who are aiming for a family. The message is something like.. be aware whith whom you want to make children and aim for healthy relationships, I guess. In the end I see it in real life all the time.. the early break ups of relationships with kids involeved, it is always damaging to the children in some way for sure.

I can see why this show is rated the way it is and it has made me feel grateful for what I have. However, it's a grim reminder that despite a lot of progress, humanity still has a long way to go and that most of the suffering in the world is avoidable and pointless.

This ending felt forced and it ruined everything for me.

Besides that I wonder what was Takopi's plan? How was he going to make her smile when we all saw what happens without him interfering. I don't see how he could have possibly known about the notebook.

Fantastic writing where we really get to know and feel for the main characters, even Takopi.
It was hard seeing the cycle of abuse, how it's transferred from generation to generation, so many bad decisions ultimately leading to horrendous choices.
Takopi's perspective was a deliberate choice too, it being an alien that's all about bringing happiness, showing us how you can't just "fix" everything with positivity and ignorance but sometimes just talking to someone does so much more

Refreshing anime!

turns out all along takopii's original sin was not having eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. that's why he was soo dumb, the polar opposite of our beloved yellow koro sensei in that he could do anything like fix problem children whereas this pink blob was utterly useless. he didn't even think of disguising himself as chappy in order to trick shizuka with such a creative white lie. also marina did nothing wrong. in fact, i was rooting for her the entire time, not because i'm a psycho but because i can relate to her, painfully so.

In-depth inclusion of different real-world conflicts (applied) like welfare spending, parenting, and education systems. People who watch Attack on Titan have their main takeaway being that the world is not black and white. Here, it is the same on a more interpersonal and non-macro scale with thought provoking episodes and amazing animation.

I feel.....conflicted about this. I'm really not a fan of Takopi pulling some power he had out of his ass to magically fix the device and make everyone forget him and it all leads to a happy ending. I just really hate that kind of forced happy ending. I still never got used to the animation style. I don't care if it's manga-accurate, it's still ugly. There were some parts of the story I really liked and it had some good twists but this ending is just....not quite satisfying. It's really hard to believe that one innocent at the end would turn around their entire relationship and magically end their hate for each other. Even going back to school the next day the peer pressure to maintain the status quo would be immense. Having a six year time jump just to cover it up so you don't think about it too hard felt like a cop out. Plus their horrible parents are still there. They are still just elementary schoolers. Having parents like that will mess you help. Even if they have each other for support they are still just kids.

Plus, as someone who was bullied in High School, I can never fully get behind any "forgive the bully" ending. In show or any medium for that matter. Sure it may make for a nice story but that's just.....not how it works. So I have a lot of personal biased against anything that goes that route. I still have nightmares about that time in my life over 15 years later. I don't forgive them and I never will, even if they are gone my life. You don't get over trauma that easily. And, getting back to the show, the parental trauma not being resolved......yeah, those kids are fucked man.

All that said, weirdly enough i'm kind of looking forward the movie version. I feel like I actually might enjoy it more as one continuous story vs. being broken up into episodes. It's like a 7.5 (probably go with 7 since MAL hates still can't handle decimals). Maybe it was just too hyped up for me before I started but I don't see how anyone could legit think this is a 10/10.

Fucking kids amirite?

Fucked up parents. I don't usually hope for good endings, but given how brutal these kids' pasts were, I am glad that they we got a satisfying end.

Sometimes I forget that anime can be good but when I watch shows like this, I somehow want to go through my anime binge phase again. Alas, too many responsibilities *sigh*.
