Not a fan of Yokoya but he does have that intimidating aura.

Oh plus, it looks like he managed to convince his former bullies to join him. The guy is creepy but he has that level of charisma.

yokoya is genuinely insane holy fuck, that was a fantastic episode I love the backstory and akiyama forcing the team to come to terms with their situation was great too, I didn't even think about it like that until he explained it all, nothing gets passed this guy I swear he's some kind of supercomputer

New Op and ED bang omg.

Nah lowkey Yokoya school life was the real high school of the elite because bro showing up and instantly taking over the school within a week is funny af. Can’t believe he instituted a whole ass hierarchy system. No wonder dude is still afraid of him.

That said, I’m really proud of how far Nao has come and how she was the one that came up with a plan and deduced Yokoya’s strategy, ofc with some help from Akiyama at the end. It’s nice to have a genuinely intimidating adversary for once here

5/5 episode, mainly because of how much aura Shinichi farmed with the three fire lines he dropped before the cliffhanger. "This is a wake-up call. No time to rest on your laurels. As of this moment, we're LOSING the game". Goodness gracious, Shinichi, chill out. Dang, brother.

This whole team is pathetic only three characters who has brain (you know who) other than them all are bunch of sheeps, if one person suggests something they agree on it without a thought that legit made me go "Are these guys retarded?". Omg and that backstory was turn off for me it was soo cringe 😵😵.
Well let's see what happens next, i am only watching this series because of Akiyama and fukunaga, other characters are soo fking retarded it hurts me physically.

If i simplify the numbers to understand, it's like, let's say:

We start with 100 in these ATMs.

Night takes 20 from DayATM
Day takes 10 from NightATM

So DayATM has 80 left and NightATM has 90

Day intercepts 6 from Night smuggling, Night has 14, Day has 16. Day is winning the game.

Then let's say nothing happens and the game ends.

Day has 16 + 80 = 96
Night has 14 + 90 = 104, Night is making profit and is losing

(I made up these numbers to simplify. You can imagine 100 as 100% too :P)

Can't help but imagine what Yokoya's Plan B would've been if any of the delinquents straight up didn't care about their futures and messed him up anyway. Something I could maybe see Fukunaga doing actually lol

Nao really is an angel. I don't think they mentioned how they managed to guess the 91.11M number last episode, because if it was planned amount, how far did they plan?

@KOTFTW kikuzawa gave the 91.11M number to yokoya through hand signals. Akiyama saw it coming and gave the other dude a piece of paper saying to smuggle 91.12M instead

"Do you want to win the game, or make money?", this is what this game was all about! Winning doesn't guarantee that you will get out debt free after the game is over, so lets focus on making as much money as possible now!

Also, I like how Akiyama turns the heat up when asking how they are going to punish the traitor, the sheep all lash out, then Nao calms down and manages to get them to agree to a compromise, so that they can still have some sort of unity in the group! That a sneaky way of using Nao's "honestly stupid" inherited trait to your team's advantage in this case!

I also consider Yokoya the perfect "death game" villain type, as it feels like he's also going to be a recurrent character throughout future games!? Good insidious nature, one of those who just starts a fire and watches all burn down, non-stop, even after leaving his experiments alone...

Solid 7/10, also, new OP is fine, song is catchy, but for the visuals it uses lazy anime footage for most of its duration, and ED is cute... If this shit got adapted 15 years ago, we would have had like 50+ straight episode of this... Hope they continue this one after the first 24 episodes are done; and at least the B team staff has something fun to do for a change of pace!

That was a pretty interesting episode, I liked the reveal of the debt trap built into the game and Fukunaga continues to be my favourite character. I did have a chuckle at the effort Yokoya went to to take over the school, spending actual stacks of money so he could play king for a few months. The only real way I see out for Day team at the moment is to actually smuggle money, without using the briefcase. To take money out of the account and hide it on their persons so the Night team have nothing to claim at the end. Though I don't know if this strategy is legal within the game rules. The new OP and ED are pretty good, I like them though I think I like the ED moreso.

Summer is here (and the time is right) and that means a new OP and ED, I’m gonna miss the original pair a lot but these new ones are great too, I like that the ED remained chill too although it’s a much different vibe compared to the first. And regarding the OP visuals, I noticed Yuji rocking the long hair for most of it (also a revolver lol), is it gonna make a comeback?

And this one featured some highs and lows for our Day team, at first things were looking good when Yuji managed to steal from Night team and also got money through on Day’s smuggling turn, but then the progress came grinding to a halt when no one else on Day team was ballsy enough to smuggle when they were ahead, and then the end of the episode happened where Akiyama revealed the reality of this game, being that even if you win the game, you aren’t necessarily making money. Tough stuff, I didn’t even think about that myself, but that does mean the next round of turns will be even more interesting with the need to actually smuggle cash being higher, so while it might seem bad for Day team, it’s good content for us viewers lol.

There was also that Yokoya backstory, it wasn’t as crazy as I was expecting but it’s still wild that he managed to take over a school and established a hierarchy system so people were treated differently just because of the label on them, it reminded me a bit of the Stanford Prison Experiment in that regard.

Interesting to see the OP focus on only 4 of the characters. Everyone else is essentially sheep.

Kikuzawa will end up losing the most since the rest will take his money to pay the organizers.

Love the little sketches of each player

As it stands, the Night team will need to do a good inspection job without the need to smuggle too much, while the Day team needs to be good in both smuggling and inspection.

So Yokoya is a rich asshole. It makes sense that he would be playing this Liar Game for the thrill of it and the control he gets to exert over others.

Akiyama once again reminds everyone of the significant details that they forget while playing the game. It's really amazing how this contraband game was made to win money by actually losing ❤️‍🔥

Feels like the writers are overhyping Yokoya's school feat.
It's very easy to to do what he did just by being rich. No mindgames needed. Hence why the school didn't do anything either. Just paid off everyone with daddy's money. Bribed the initial camera guy too. Try doing all of that without money.

This episode kinda pissed me off. Not because of Yokoya, but because of the Day Team members. It's genuinely so hard, exhausting, and ANNOYING having to work with a bunch of cowards and spineless people. Their guts are practically nonexistent. AND WHAT ANNOYED ME EVEN MORE was how they were cheering the loudest and celebrating that "victory" when they contributed absolutely nothing to it. I was genuinely scowling when Tsunoda and Satou acted like they were the ones who worked the hardest. Ugh.

Okay, rant over. Sorry, I just felt like I had to get that off my chest lol. Back to the game, I was so happy that Nao realized that!!!! It's very, very possible that Yokoya had already anticipated the situation with Kikuzawa. In this episode, the Day Team was saved from the brink of collapse twice, first by Nao, then by Akiyama during that final meeting (although once again Satou was being unbelievably annoying holy shit can you just sit still and shut up T____T). Three times, even, if we count Fukunaga's bold decision. Oh my god. This group has been so fragile from the very beginning.

Btw, if Akiyama hadn't explained it again, I honestly wouldn't have realized just how much this situation actually put the Day Team at such a huge disadvantage. I mean, this whole "winning" position... my reaction was "oh... wait, you're right. How did I not realize that sooner?" haha. Anyway, I'm seriously having so much fun with cour 2!!!!!

The new ED is so cute. Hopefully the ending will be as cute as the ED song ;p

Rewatching this episode and thinking about the part where a team can lose but make profits.

I realize that the strategy of intercepting smugglers money only is a bad idea and Day fell for it since the beginning.

---

Let's say we start with 100 for both DayATM and NightATM.

If I exagerate,

Night smuggles 100 from DayATM
Day don't smuggle, but intercept only. Day intercept 100 from Night smugglers.

At the end of the game,
Night has 100 from NightATM but 0 from smuggling
Day has 0 from DayATM but 100 from smuggling
It's a tie.

---

Now, realistically, it's not possible to intercept all the money from smugglers.
Then, add all the other stuff like the penalty, trickery, betrayal, cowardice, etc. damn, my brain is gonna explode lol

Nao is turning into a reliable member of the team, standing up for Kikuzawa might've looked like mary sue behavior at first, but she had a good reason to back it up.
Also this is the part in the manga where readers complained about math being too complicated for them, hopefully the anime will do a better job dumbing it down for them.

Its almost comical how crap a character Yokoyama is. His whole deal is "I am the Stanford Prison Experiment personified!" and that stupid thing has been exposed as totall fake nonsense for decades. The idea that media still plays off it (along with multiple personalities) is mind boggling. Imagine a school actually melting down like that because of some dipshit weirdo with an albino rat, lol. Obviously fiction exists to escape accusations of "that couldn't happen in reality" but there's that line and then there's "that couldn't happen in reality and also it is very very stupid so why would anyone make a fictional story about that?" and this crosses the second line.

Also, once again this"psychological" game is actually just a math problem. That is often the case and the issue is game theory but I don't think the game theory aspect of this show is that strong because the NPCs are very flat and easily controlled. I dunno, I don't have the heart to really pick this all apart and fight with someone more passionate than me but there's something off about this thing. I don't think I'd go quite as far to drop the whole "dumb person's idea of a smart person tv show" bomb but if someone did a 2 hour "Why Liar Game is a Dumb Person's Idea of a Smart Person TV Show" video essay I'd probably watch it a nod a lot.

@LotteGiants
Jesus fucking Christ, whenever you expose your freaking views why can't you make sure you at least Google what you typin' up. I'm talking about Prison Experiment, yes, which wasn't proven FAKE lfmao, it's the scientific methodology that was heavily criticized.

I mean I know for some people there's no difference between those two statement but everytime THOSE people post what they thought is smart while it ain't is just cringe.

I mean that has nothin to do with Liar Game at this point, really. It's really good to see Yokoya (and Nao before) griling haters the right side up so they come with some dumb unrelated shit instead (whoever googled Stanford Prison would see it doesn't apply to what Yokoya did, cause he selected particular gang to run the school. The key word is "particular GANG in school" but anyway..)

The key takeaway for everyone is that actual science and scientific methods aren't your "unchallenged edgekids opinionz territory, lolz" so that user is just plain wrong. Everything else is whatever

Yokoya implemented inherent caste social system. Everytime uneducated folks tell those things can't be real point them to real prisons and India, for starters xD. Kaitani knows his academic and real world shit, same as Manga fans, you must be heavily DELUDING yourself you can attack it that simple, but keep tryin.

@KOTFTW
I'd argue when Nao proposes not to beat Kikuzawa but just strip him of the money it's nothing on bein an angel, but rather being practical with the team (they continue to stay on the same level).

So with 290 divided by 8 they all end with 36.25 mil extra. AkiNao combined bankroll is now 230+(36.25x2) = more than 300 mil up. Anyone who's claiming OUTCOME predictability for Contraband should consider the following.

Forget predicting the plot, it's impossible. Just try to guess a range what a final result of AkiNao CASH result would look like.

Or you can try Yokoya. Fukunaga. Always think about cash first. It is actually what I so much love about both One Outs & LG, given Kaitani wrote a manga on horse betting too he has the exact right mentality on game design when it comes to cash and his games / tournaments. From those who followed LG, only Squid Game S2 kept this key connection to the games (Tomodachi Game abandoned it for the sake of Danganronpa plot/mechanics) and this is what separates the great from the rest: money psychology.

Yokoya is the typical rich kid. He has money and everything he could ever want, but that has led him to develop a desire to control everyone and everything around him.

Up until now, everything has been going according to his plan. But unfortunately for him, we have Akiyama on our side, and he has finally stepped in to give his teammates a wake-up call and make them play the game as it was truly intended, not the way Yokoya wants.

Anyway, this episode was really entertaining; I've really been enjoying this arc! As per usual, I didn't understand the calculations at the end (math is not my thing ^^') but I'll trust Akiyama on that. x) I'm really intrigued to see how they handle this round going forward.

@teraphIl1000 well the photograph can always pass the camera to someone unknown so the thugs won't know lol

For the calculations part, if I try to simplify, the more you smuggle from other country's ATM, the less money they will get at the end of the game.

At the end of the game, the teams money = money smuggle + money remaining in their ATM

I'm enjoying the new OP and ending, and that Yokoya backstory was wild.

All it took was two days for him to run the school like a dictator, and turn everyone there into paranoia-laden backstabbers. Stings a bit more with Kikuzawa mentioning how things only got worse when Yokoya left, thanks to that power vacuum he created.

Fukunaga did well getting that lead over the other team. But it's led to an interesting mentality shift with everyone wanting to play it safe so they could keep their win secured.

Akiyama shattering that delusion by pointing out how the win would be a pyrrhic victory that'd force them more in debt was a great moment.

Nao had one as well by keeping the team focused, and saving Kikuzawa from becoming a punching bag. These personalities sure seem a lot better than Yokoya's united front to me.
