WELL WELL, for novelist Nekoko's series to warrant a 2-cour, 26-episode MAX from the unlikeliest of studios, this is a first AND test of GoHands' mettle and strength for the 6 months ahead.

SPYAIR's OP is subtle, but it's quality at the verge of decent to good.

The Heavy Knight that is Elymas, his defective class rise to "fame", but as the heir of the Edvaughn family going through the Ritual of Divine Blessing to be blessed with a class from a VR game world that he was reincarnated into, the Heavy Knight status that he was given, much against the Master Swordsman that his family was expecting. That role, now being blessed to the branch family's promising daughter Malice instead with actual evil and malice written on her face, and Elymas is a goner from that point on, exiled from the family.

Forced out of the family, the strongest tank has to raise a living of his own, starting with the weakest of monsters: a Lvl 2 Raana frog that is on par with his growing skills. Another help from a struggling adventurer who needs help clearing Raanas, and Elymas is making his mark known, slowly.

ReoNa's ED has no right to be this good, but it's just great.

I mean...it's GoHands, so...yeah, expect the "signature" touch that the studio has to offer.

Oh Maris...that personality of hers made the most impression.

Yeah, thsi is from GoHands so I knew what to expect regarding the animation style. Not a bad first episode honestly but it needs to prove itself especally with its world setting and cast. The 'exiled' trope has been done so many times in recent years for different reasons lately, this time for main protagonist Elymas.

Nothing says it’s a GoHands show more than no clipping through floors, hair moving as if a plane engine is blowing in their faces from the slightest movements, and ofc starting with some insane eye raping action.

Oh and it’s fantasy? The plot must be dogshit right? Check. It’s definitely GoHands.

I'm not really sure what to think about this.

You can see its shine between 3D and 2D, even if it's a bit rough in some parts, while in others it's better.

However, this over-the-top fluidity, even at awkward moments that make no sense, is weird, it made me feel a bit sick.

It's like they had something good in their hands, but they used it so much, everywhere, that it ended up spoiled.

The manga is pretty good (a solid 7) so the story shouldn't have problems. Never seen this kind of animation in anime before but we'll see if it works out in future episodes.

I'm usually not one to give a s**t about looks of anime, but that game like graphics and camera perspectives seriously played tricks on my suspension of disbelief. And yes, I'm aware that this is literally a game world, but I'll need more time to get used to it (I read the first double manga volume and the story was ok so I'd like to follow).

PS: And the skirt camera angles with the harlequin character were strange, too. Either show pantsu (or bike shorts) or choose a different angle, but those half-assed (SCNR) shots from down below lead nowhere.

I really don't mind anime using CG backgrounds, they can even do characters if they are particularly skilled (like some video game studios). In fact, I really liked some of the OP/EDs that SAO did which were clearly CG world with well blended characters. I actually think the style of 2D anime character, well blended and well shaded, on top of a CG background can look really good.

In this show's case, I really did like some of the action, how visually interesting scenes were, and the dynamic camera.

However, it feels like the studio is going too hard with it. It lacks subtly or restraint. Camera effects that could make for hype moments are popping out all over the place. They are pushing it so hard at points that I feel like the tracking wasn't as good as it should've or could've been. Also some of the backgrounds almost felt too intense? Like the forest at the end almost felt like a photo taken with the white balance wrong, maybe some felt like the brightness didn't match or were oversaturated or something; it's hard to put my finger on it.

If they toned it down a bit and maybe used backgrounds that fit the art style slightly better it could look great.

I'm going to keep watching, the story is somewhat interesting (though it could've also done without the random intro fight scene in the middle of the show) and you can't say the visuals are bland or boring. Hopefully they relax a little in the rest of the episodes.

Personally didnt mind the animation so much in this episode, but that whole (kinda spoilery) montage at the start was bit much one after another. Its a basic setup eps at least they went thru the whole song and dance quick. Hopefully theres more to why Malice is so against Elymas and not just surface level revenge bait.

I'll give it a shot. This is clearly nothing to write home about story-wise, but it's not bad so far. My main beefs are the backgrounds and the constant panning. I see what they did with the backgrounds and that's very smart and cost effective. It just doesn't look good in that style. They should have flattened the textures by cel shading. As for the panning, it's just nauseating. I just want everything to stop shifting around for a second. It genuinely makes me dizzy.

The funny thing is that I totally don't know anything about this anime before, but I could tell it was made by GoHands even before the opening song begin. And it's actually a compliment. I don't know why people still can't accept that GoHand is a frontier studio that deserve to be in the same group as Bones, MAPPA, Wit, KyoAni etc. And this anime not only bring a pixel-perfect visual but also pitch-perfect soundtrack composed by Ludvig Forssell of Belle.

With that said, the story itself hasn't impress me so far, but it's still too soon to judge, so I hope the story will catch up to the production quality soon!

mid story with a lot of beautiful shots, i wonder why gohands feels the need to do a constant 360 panning of every single god damn shot every 10 seconds.

the 3d backgrounds looked good in some scenes, but most looked like garbage. this is clearly a project they're putting the most effort into tho

Ugh what was up with that, did they blow half their budget on the hair? And while the fights looked nice what the heck was up with that ED? That harlequin girl obviously has a "magic" skirt that doesn't show her panties so why were they showing her from upskirt angles and then drawing horrible anatomy instead of her pantsu? Malice (really that is her name?) was flipping all over the place showing hers. I don't care if they show her pantsu or not but nothing I hate worse than bad anatomy so they don't draw it, what the hell is that supposed to be? Has ass cheeks go all the way around to the front? LOL

I flipped through the manga, this looks like a pretty lame standard fantasy fight isekei. Seems like they are trying to spice things up with the animation but wow it seems like they are just making it worse.

Well, CGI became way better and doesnt make eyes bleed anymore

But i still felt like I was watching someone playing a game and making cuts of "best scenes from gameplay". Plus animation of fights is way too fast for the eyes...which sort of kills the whole vibe :(

Reasons why i felt like its a game trailer rather than anime:

People in weird costumes walk among ordinary commoners and no one seems bothered - check
All the girls look like Victoria's Secret models - check
Talent system, skill tree, and other geeky gaming gimmicks - check
The main character is kicked out of his house and starts from scratch as a complete noob - check
The hero in the "Heavy Defense" tree wears armor with his midriff covered by...um...a T-shirt? A transmog in a sexy outfit - check

Well... I felt like it was okay but the camera angles that were chosen were very strange and funny at times. I mean, the fight scene moved way too fast and way too much for comfort. The pan out around the city looked really bad and overall, the 3d backgrounds seemed to be really flat with no depth behind them. Will probably keep watching though. Also, the single strands of hair being animated was really offputting

Well, I could definitely tell who made this! LOL. Heck, just the hair alone. If Go Hands would just tame down the frenetic motion & wild pans, you know they could actually be known as a good studio just on Art Work. This thing is freaking gorgeous, the rare moments it stays still.
The plot is pretty standard RPG style Fantasy with a kind of ( vary) slight twist in leveling. But for Go Hands, actually something you can follow from Episode one is remarkable in itself.

Gohands, bro, I promise you don’t need to move the camera every 2 seconds 😭 damn near need a motion sickness trigger warning on their projects. This was an interesting start, tho, reminds me of failure frame. It’s cool we got two fantasy series in the same season where the MC is a tank with this and Strongest Rearguard.

Director said nah y’all gon see how bad Malice is 😭 she fine af, but damn I ain’t never seen a 360 degree introduction like that. Gohands the funniest studio ever. Who would’ve guessed a character named malice would be evil? Shocker. I’m guessing based on the dad’s irrational reaction that malice is somehow living up to her name and using a skill to manipulate his emotions because there’s zero reason to beat your own son and disown him because of some shit he can’t choose. Either that, or the dad really just a dumbass.

Elymas feels like the first isekai protagonist that’s not a kirito clone and with genuine aura tho so for that reason alone, this is worth watching. Plus a two cour GoHands show is rare. I give them a lot of flack, but I do like their artstyle and direction for the most part. The amount of ass and thigh shots in this already is insane, like blue hair girl whole ass cheeks was visible a couple times lol

This is the worst looking animation i've ever watched and I'm the guy who didn't hate the 2014 Knights of Sidonia anime.

I literally have a hard time processing what's on screen. Especially with all that the over the top action scenes where the perspective is going all over the place. Slop is supposed to be easily digested and not give you motion sickness...

The cherry on top is the suggestive angles on female character for no fucking reason.
