Also, the fact that just about every plot is based on the arrival of some random people or creatures, or some opportunity or other dropping into Dias' lap really makes him feel like an incredibly passive and reactive protagonist. How many times do we have to do the "horn glows -> Dias says he'll check it out -> Alna insists on coming along" song and dance? And by the way, Dias' low-budget reaction faces are too crappy-looking to be funny. I'm well aware that I should have dropped this show several episodes ago, but I think it's turning into my hate-watch for the season. I'm at least curious to see what the resolution will be for the farming plotline, and how the trapped desert folk factors into it. Since she's the only one of her species to have a real character design, it's obvious she's going to be a character going forward. I also look forward to getting likely zero explanation for how she isn't dehydrated from being trapped for so long. |

| @KokoRose Most fantasy LN adaptations don't have a story, the MC just experiences new things, powers up, gains random waifu along the way, helps heal someone with ease who otherwise would be incurable, etc. but this is one of the more blatant examples of not even trying to make it look like there's a story, it's just a steady progression of things happening and Dias "kingdom" slowly growing in response. I don't know how you really describe this trend, it's like a video game-ization of fantasy, even when there isn't status screens/skills, etc. these types of shows feel nothing like most fantasy series from a decade ago, especially those before 2010. |

| Funny conversation between Mall & Dias. That was a lot of good stuff Eldan gave them, except for the rats which were taken care of really quickly. That's unfortunate that they can't grow anything, maybe they just need to try something different another time. Looks like the twins have some kind of hidden power they weren't able to tell Dias about yet. |
| i have a feeling the mouse and the twins will be the answer to dias's crop problems. it's just a feeling, since the twins are elves and most likely adept at making plants grow and flourish. |

| Man girls just don't get the charm of shiny rocks do they smh. Their reaction was kinda hilarious though. A rat voiced by Naobu? Lol cute. Alna being so happy to get her horse. That was her initial goal, happy for her. Btw it's very easy to get a horse. You just jump on one and keep the analog stick up it's ass and need to have enough stamina, oh wait that's only in crimson desert. The twins probably know what's going on with the land. Probably their trait or something but their parents likely told them not to show it to others as not to get exploited. Which is why they are keeping it a secret even from Dias. |

My guess is the twins are forest-kin who knows all about growing things. Don't know why they're so circumspect about telling Dias about what they were feeling. Maybe its their kin's secret that's not to be told to non-forest-kin?

Problem is, why not tell the secret to Dias who they certainly trust. Maybe there's so very serious oath or something at play? Mouse will likely help so let's see what happens next :) |

| well considering 'the plains' are right next door to the elephant guy's country, i'm curious why 'fields' or 'cultivation' don't work on 'the plains'. the ecology naturally couldn't be too different, unless the proper fertilizer is potash/wood ash like the old human lady from the elephant guy's country said... instead of those 'magic stones' and calcium/potassium from the animal bones. growing potted plants is DEFINITELY different than open air fields! curiouser and curiouser... why the onikin know cultivation won't work there, but they don't know or remember why. plus, how it is linked somehow in the lady chieftain's mind to the forestkin? did the onikin many many generations ago... before the humans showed up...have some kind of relationship with the forestkin and the two collaborated with fields on the plains? then somehow the two races got estranged and the forestkin are just legendary beings now? but we all know what has the twins' emotions all tied up in knots... i bet their mommy and daddy told them something about their family and why the girls had to hide things about that from everybody else. if their parents weren't living amongst their 'own kind' there has to be a long drawn-out and tragic story behind it. hmm! i wonder if the humans were to blame for the forestkin and the onikin losing contact? hmm! so many questions!! |

| @KokoRose wow, you don't know about kangaroo mice do you? or any other kinds of desert creature? those desert mice are obviously based on kangaroo mice, Rodentia Heteromyidae Dipodomyinae Microdipodops from the Great Basin Desert of the Western United States. which is predominantly located in the state of Nevada. they're nicknamed that because of how well they jump. pretty much EVERY small-ish desert mammal or reptile metabolize the majority of their water needs from the foods they eat. larger ones like coyotes, wild dogs, cougars etc. do need to visit water sources multiple times in a week. the 'smart mouse' was standing in a chest FILLED with seeds in the back of the wagon before its fellows attacked Dias and were captured. it was nomming on one when their conversation started. it has been hiding in that chest since then. so by eating the seeds the 'smart mouse' could probably live for weeks or months without fresh water. free food right there, water from the food, easy answer. if you seriously don't like the show after now five weeks? do drop it and move along, because hate-watching something is just a waste of your lifespan. go entertain yourself some other way. |

| @KokoRose tone's your interpretation, hostile etc. is all in your head. yep, it is quite common knowledge about desert living creatures evolving to not need as much open water sources as forest or plains or mountain dwellers. i personally know about the kangaroo mouse specifically from living in that region of the USA when i was a child. as soon as i saw the lil buggers in the back of that wagon that's the thought that popped into my head, 'oh talking kangaroo mice? that's an original concept!' plus, they've been on TV and the internet in various wildlife shows. amongst other desert dwelling wildlife from around the world. you've got issues with this story? i don't see a single one myself, everything in this show is just fine by me. you do you i guess. |

| Love this slow life village building typa shows, I just slurp them up (●ˇ∀ˇ●) Refreshing to see something the MC try not work immediately first time, but I wonder how Dias will get his farm up and running in the next episodes...will the elf girls have a part to play? |
