Not here to knock your experience, but with "Tefuda no Oome na Victoria", you seem to mostly only be critical of plot inconsistencies as being a bit distracting, and it not being as colorful a tone as you would've liked. That's valid. But giving it a 5 for that? That's a huge jump in my opinion. And calling it poorly written? Poorly written would be if Victoria received no consequences at all for her inability to blend in. Poorly written is if the characters had nothing likeable or relatable about them at all. Poorly written is when authors and creators inject their weird worldviews and/or fetishes into their work and try to pass it off as normal. There are quite a few shows in your library that fall squarely under "guilty pleasure" or "slop I enjoyed", so you clearly have a taste and you're clearly able to tolerate bad writing if something is to your taste. Why not extend that grace to this show? It had a few plot inconsistencies but overall was very decently written imo.

Not trying to get you to pick the show back up or even change your score, just to say that I think the way you reviewed it seemed a bit disingenuous or unfair compared to other shows you liked.

Hey there! I read your review of Second Prettiest Girl and, while I respect your point of view, I see things quite differently. Calling this series "boring" or saying the romance feels "programmed" is just scratching the surface. Since this is a preliminary review (based only on the first 5 episodes), you missed the exact turning point where the story truly consolidates.
It feels like a double standard when we look at how other shows are judged. For instance, OtaGal just kept following the same predefined tropes and clichés all the way through, yet it gets a pass. In contrast, Second Prettiest Girl actually tries to deliver something with genuine substance.
Saying the characters are bland ignores their psychological depth. The title perfectly reflects Umi's inferiority complex and how exhausting school hierarchies can be. Episodes 4, 5, and 6 tackle social anxiety in a very mature way. Maki and Umi don't drag out stupid misunderstandings for 20 episodes; they actually communicate face-to-face and connect through real hobbies, like watching B-movies. That’s not a "lack of spark"—it's a healthy, grounded human relationship.
They aren't flat characters either. Episode 6 dives deep into Maki's family trauma regarding his parents' divorce, a painful and realistic approach that most romance anime wouldn't dare to touch.
Your "white bread with sugar" metaphor is uncalled for. Class de 2-banme isn't bland; it just chose a paced, human, and mature rhythm. It prioritized a solid script over cheap clichés and exaggerated drama. If you watch past the halfway mark, you'll see it has some of the most honest writing in modern romance. Cheers!
