Hi, thanks for the heads-up! I’ve gone ahead and removed it from the Prehistoric Stack. I assumed, based on the poster, that at least part of the story would take place in those times, but good to know that’s not the case. (❁´◡`❁)
Yeah being a child of immigrant from Taiwan definitely helps. For years, I have known Fujiko Fujio's works including Doraemon are pretty much effectively unknown or non-existent here in the US and its fans are almost as rare and few here. You'd be extremely lucky as all hell to find anyone outside of your Chinatowns or your Asian-American diaspora here in the country (like in the whiter or blacker areas of the big cities or rural countryside) who even knows what the hell Doraemon is at all.
I mean, as far as I know my guy, the only other Fujiko Fujio anime series beyond the 2014 Disney XD Dub of Doraemon that has ever been officially released here in the United States so far is the 2024 Time Patrol Bon series on Netflix. And historically, back in the 1970's, Obake Q-Taro did used to air in places like California, but the English dub and broadcast has been long lost since then.
In the sea of American weeaboos, I'm pretty much in the minority of people who can claim Doraemon as their childhood and a minority of a minority of guys who even realizes other Fujiko Fujio series exist and a minority of a minority of a minority of dudes who is an absolute pure hardcore fan/enjoyer of something as super-obscure or forogotten as Pokonyan itself.
Yeah I'm pretty much a living anomaly in this particular localized area of the space-time continuum, we call America.
The first episode is only the tip of the iceberg my friend. I mean thinking about it, I haven't seen the full first episode myself, but my distant yet persistent vague memories of whatever clips of the anime I saw interspersed in the background footage of a Taiwanese Mandarin dubbed Children's Sing-Along Karaoke VHS tape (with the OP theme and the 4th ED theme by YUKA remaining undubbed which is how I became familiar with the songs, but didn't know the other four ED theme's until like 2023 when I rediscovered the series again after playing the Capcom Pokonyan Balloon game in Taiwan) that I used to own over two decades ago (but not anymore since 2006 when I gave it away to my cousins before they moved to the state of Arizona and now the tape itself is most likely lost or gone in all likelihood since they left their Arizona home in 2023 as well (bummer, giving away that tape was one of the worst personal life decisions I ever ended up making in retrospect)...
Always made me think about this particular series occasionally and I couldn't do so more fondly and unconditionally now every single second of my life since 2023.

But thanks for accepting my friend request btw.
