Greetings I am a mostly boring 41 year old Canadian woman doing a lot of nothing with her life.
Much of my free time is spent:
-Playing video games and mobile games
-Watching movies, anime and TV dramas
-Watching content on YouTube and Twitch
-Writing (my passion!)
-Going out for walks or to sit at the park
-Playing chess
What I seek in a lot of the media that I consume is the psychology of the characters. I desire to see how the characters react to adversity. How they handle the situations they face. I want to see how they feel. I want to see what they think. I want to get in their head.
I redirect this into my own writing. I write primarily about themes targeted at teens and young adults, such as school bullying, self-harm, abuse, etc. I take inspiration from media on occasion, but it's largely my own ideas. I also take inspiration from my own experiences.
My dream is to someday write well enough to be published, with the ultimate goal of making a positive difference for as many people as possible through empathy and compassion amidst troubles most often faced by teens. However, I am rather self-conscious about the quality of my writing, which is definitely subpar compared to what you typically see amateur writers do.
If you are interested in reading a story I wrote, feel free to give
Before I Crossed the Line a try. It's a story about a teenage girl in Japan who is a victim of chikan (groping/molestation on public transit), and how this problem changed her life for the worse after losing a close friend who also suffered from this. The story is written in the form of a letter, written by the main character, Misaki, a few years after the facts as she recounts her story. (Note: it's currently under revision.)
About me:
I was a shut-in for 13 years, from late 2007 to early 2021. I started taking walks or sitting at the park near home during the Covid times when the outside was largely deserted. It's still difficult to go out to this day (2026 when writing this) as a result of my social anxiety, which can be extremely crippling at times, but I manage to do groceries and take leisure walks regularly.
