I also like the visual style for the new GITS and would like to see more like that. Science Saru has had wildly varying art styles for their productions so far. Haha, as for Yani Neko, I've heard it gets a bit better as it goes. XD

Yeah, it seems like there are just new compilations with different focuses when it comes to Hayami for ages now. Haven't heard anything about new stories.

Wim Wenders did a Japanese film? Wow, can't believe how old Yakusho looks now. Hahaha... for cozy, a lot of the CGDCT-esque slop probably works. Aria isn't that bad and has a nice, relaxed setting.

I've actually never played a fighting game online. I always played them either in single-player or with friends, and it's been years since I last touched one. I mostly played them when I was a kid and a teenager.
Competing online takes way too much dedication. I'd rather spend my time doing other things 😅

I totally agree that FF9 is super underrated, it’s a masterpiece for me. I still need to play FF6, many people say it’s incredible, so I have high expectations. You absolutely have to start Suikoden! The second one is my all-time favorite game and, just like FF9, it’s really underrated. I hope the anime is at least decent, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much... anyway, you should seriously make a Backloggd account so I can see what you've been playing!

I'd probably be just as puzzled if I weren't around for when it was airing. It pushed Fullmetal Alchemist out, finally. Accessible/glossy/emotional shows with FMCs seems to be all the rage now. As this is another really popular title along with Frieren. But CGDCT (still kind of a vocal niche, I guess) and FMCs seem very popular now.

lol, I'll bet it was surprising. Frieren does seem like this kind of comfy, pleasant, light-weight show that you unwind with before going to bed. Kind of like a nostalgic JRPG adventure. Nothing all that amazing, but well-produced. Yet the fanbase is annoying and militant, and they act like it's one of the greatest anime ever made. And how deep it is, but, guys, come on, it's not that deep. XD If anything, the fanbase makes me more resentful toward some of these shows. Especially once I got to S2 of Frieren. Usually, I'd drop, but I want to see how it ends.

Oh, I see someone commented about Jun Hayami manga. It's really hard to find his non-hentai collection, and there weren't many copies in English (don't think anyone cared enough to scan it either). I'm sometimes surprised by how good some of his stories can be considering what he's known for. He strikes me as more talented than most of the modern eroguro people but sometimes goes so far that it can be ridiculous. I remember Love Letter from Kanata especially having some good ones (and then ones I wasn't as keen on).

Yes, Dendoh is seriously underrated, it’s such a shame... it’s been one of my favorites for years now, since I was a kid, so I’m really attached to it :)

Cream Lemon varies wildly, some episodes have that weird early hentai feel and some just feel like an action or mystery anime from the era that happens to have sex. I view it as like an early animators playground. You have stuff like an episode directed by the guy who did Roujin Z with animation by Hideaki Anno and one of the Akira animators, and other stuff like Project A-ko being directly spawned from it. I find it very cool overall, but it is all over the place in tone and quality from episode to episode.
