I started watching anime in late 2019, when my cousin introduced me to Death Note. I loved it from the very first episodes, and it quickly got me interested in exploring more anime. After that, I watched a few more series like FMA (2003), Promised Neverland, and Monster, and somewhere along the way, I became a fan of anime.

I enjoy almost all kinds of anime, with the obvious exception of hentai and harem, but I am particularly drawn to dark and serious stories. I love complex and layered narratives, psychological depth, interesting themes, and stories that make me think long after I've finished watching them.

✦ 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐄 ✦

𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 (𝟏–𝟑)
These ratings are reserved for works that are severely lacking in quality and have very little to offer. I rarely give ratings in this range because, in my experience, most anime simply aren't flawed enough to deserve such a low score.

1 — Garbage: Fundamentally poor in almost every aspect. The writing, characters, direction, execution, or overall experience offer little to no redeeming value.

2 — Terrible: Bad in almost every meaningful way, with very few qualities that make it worthwhile.

3 — Bad: Has major flaws across multiple areas that significantly hurt the experience, making it difficult to enjoy or engage with.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 (𝟒–𝟕)
These are the ratings I use most frequently. They cover a wide range of experiences, from below average to genuinely impressive, depending on how well a story executes what it sets out to do.

4 — Below Average: Noticeably flawed, but still has some good ideas, enjoyable aspects, or redeeming qualities. Ultimately, its weaknesses outweigh its strengths.

5 — Mid: Decent but unremarkable. It is competent and watchable, but rarely does anything memorable or particularly impressive.

6 — Good: Solid and enjoyable, with several notable strengths. It has its flaws, but overall provides a satisfying experience.

7 — Amazing: Very good and consistently engaging. Strong in most areas, with a high level of quality and very few significant weaknesses.

𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 (𝟖–𝟏𝟎)
These ratings are difficult to earn and are reserved for works that achieve an exceptional level of quality and greatness. A work does not need to be flawless to reach this range, but it needs to stand out in a significant way.

8 — Great: Excellent stuff. Clearly stands above most of what I have watched and excels in several important areas.

9 — Incredible: Exceptional. Leaves a lasting impression and reaches an extremely high level of quality, greatness, and impact.

10 — Masterpiece: A work that reaches an extraordinary level of greatness and stands among the best experiences I have had. 10/10 does not necessarily mean "objectively perfect"; it means the work achieved an exceptional level of greatness for me.

✦ 𝐌𝐘 𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐘 ✦

When rating anime, I value greatness over perfection. I don't judge a story simply by counting its flaws or how technically perfect its execution is. What matters more to me is how good the overall experience is, what the story manages to accomplish, and how strongly it leaves an impression on me.

A story can be nearly flawless in its execution and still receive a lower rating if it doesn't do enough to stand out or leave a lasting impact. On the other hand, a flawed story can receive a very high rating if its strengths are exceptional enough to outweigh its weaknesses.

I also don't believe that a high rating requires a story to be objectively perfect or universally acclaimed. My ratings are ultimately subjective and based on my own experience with the work. A 10/10 means that, for me, the greatness of the work reaches an exceptional level, not that it is without flaws.
