Synopsis
The earth of the distant future is covered in thick clouds, and the sun no longer shines. Plants wither, and oxygen is thin. To fight extinction, humankind has developed a technology that turns humans into plants, providing a small amount of oxygen. Is this process sustainable? Is it ethical? Toshiro Kamiya must consider these questions as he's faced with a difficult choice—save his family or save himself.

Kamiya is at the end of his rope. His mother is ill, and his job barely pays for her medication, much less food. With few options left, he considers the life-changing process of floromorphosis. Ready to give his body up for a payday, Kamiya is about to explore the limits of society's waning humanity. (Source: VIZ Media)

After reading about the manga this definitely seems like a perfect fit for Shaft. Hope it turns out good!

@tragedydesu Really? I thought at least a third of shows from the 20s were like that, lmao.

This series has not crossed my radar before, but the teaser visual caught my eye - it gives me "Dorohedoro," "Chainsaw Man," and "Hell's Paradise" vibes in that order (I'm almost surprised this isn't a MAPPA adaptation) - and the promotional video looks promising! I'll give "Fool Night" a watch when it airs as my interest has been piqued.

Uhh yes, I'd absolutely dig a creepy yet artsy dystopian seinen.
This thing of people turning into plants/flowers gave me a major MPD Psycho kickback.

Shitflex everywhere.... kind of a sad reality we live in, especially since this is actually a pretty good manga.

I have heard really good things about the Fool Night manga, and having Sunrise and Shaft work on the adaptation feels perfect. I'm pretty excited!

Wow, the teaser PV looks so beautiful! Along with the melancholy music (bless Katou Tatsuya), the anime adaptation seems like it'll feel a bit more like an emotional drama, unlike how the manga's gritty art and dark backgrounds give off more of an eerie and unsettling atmosphere. Which is good! It'll be interesting to experience the story in a different way, I already feel a bit emotional watching the teaser PV. I'm really excited for this adaptation, it deserves the quality!
