'The Fable' Gets Second Season

excited for this . incredible show to say the least !

Hopefully with an animation upgrade, but that may take a miracle.

OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THISS. I don't know if it's because i watch the anime first before manga, but I really liked the anime. It does felt boring at first, they talk slow and the animations is rough. But after watching more and discover more cute and funny side of them, i thought the animations and voice acting is SOO PERFECT for the story. My high rating are also influenced by my love for the manga and its ending, but I'm also really looking forward for the 2nd season to watch their fight and jokes with voices.

LFG I thought people disliked this series or that it wasn't successful. I haven't met a single person who actually knows about it and likes it besides me, so I'm very excited to see it come back.

I loved season 1 so much I ended up reading the manga and bought all the omnibus volumes released by Kodansha. It's absolutely one of my favorites now. So fucking happy to see a season 2! My heart sank because I thought it was an April Fool's joke. I'm hoping this gives Kodansha motivation to continue releasing physical volumes for The Second Contact, etc. <3

I couldn't finish the first season and it gets second.

It became very boring and dull for me, I don't undersrand specific local jokes, main hero behavior and his doings.

Literally came out of nowhere, and I couldn't be happier! Ever since S1 ended, I've had this up on my "most anticipated anime sequel" list. And given that there was hardly any hints from the official x channel, I thought that'd be it.

Ryousuke Takahashi still directing shows at 83 years old, the men of anime truly know no rest. Glad he still feels up for new challenges, as he's one of the GOATs

I certainly never ruled out the prospect of it receiving a second season, as I never do for any series (even the ones with 10+ year gaps since the last one), but I wouldn't say that I expected it or considered it very likely either. Judging from the comments of people at the time as well as any other time I've heard the series mentioned and brought up since, many were not expecting it to be continued.

So this is a very welcome development. This was my second favorite series of 2024. I enjoy its mixture of crime drama with some of its sense of comedy and relaxed and casual Slice of Life approach and rhythm. Including one of the vanishingly small number of intentional jokes within an anime which ever made me laugh out loud. I'm just glad that I started watching it in the first place as I almost skipped it originally going based off of the poster since the poster seemed more like it was going to be more of a screwball gag comedy without a necessarily interesting plot or characters when that's very much not the case. I feel the poster was misleading. I only began watching this around when it was already nine episodes in and it quickly became one of my favorites of the spring season and of the year, where it remained.

There are also some others from the past few years which I haven't gotten around to yet, like My Home Hero, but by and large this satisfies the urge I'm referring to when saying that I wish there were more crime drama/dramedy series coming out in current times like Black Lagoon and others it seems you'd have to go back to the 2000s and earlier to find, or more recently, ones like Banana Fish. About yakuza, mafia, arms dealers and traffickers, hitmen, pirates, and other organized criminal groups. This is in a similar vein but its own beast since it isn't either so action-heavy or drama-heavy and plays more like a yakuza sitcom with a serious edge and some darker subplots and characters.

And unlike many other folks, I'm a big fan and supporter of the art style for this series since it comes across sufficiently realistic and not exaggerated/cartoonish and down to Earth; appropriate for a mundane daily life and crime series where everyone in it looks quite plausible everyday Japanese as opposed to anime-fied exotic or fantastical. The animation, like many seasonals and less big name cheaper TV series, is obviously limited and budget-restricted, but that's at the absolute bottom of my priorities and concerns list, so it's a negligible issue.

I'm also pleased that it seems like more and more series lately which I, again, never ruled out the notion of a continuation of, but never banked on either, are having announcements of continuations recently or some of those new seasons which were in development hell and limbo are finally having their projected airdates announced, or their returns even feeling quicker than would have been expected (some of that might just be warped perspective of time seeming to move faster on my own part). Now, speaking of recent crime drama series, and ones from 2024 at that, if only Raise wa Tanin ga Ii could get a second season it'd be seventh heaven.

This is also one of those series which, while it does have some gripping and tense, perilous moments also for the majority of it has such a meandering attitude and pace and a lot of breathing space in-between its conflicts that it's very easy watching and a 24 - 26 episode two cour season goes down like water. Could easily watch 200 (or fill in any similarly large number) episodes of this.

Season 1 had some janky visuals. Same director and same studio, so it doesn't look like that's going to change?

Still pleasantly surprised. Season 1 was very entertaining, definitely coming back to this when it airs.

I am glad it's getting a S2, but I really wanted a different studio to do this anime. Anyway atleast the director is same, even with the limited animation in S1 the environment/vibe were good enough. Hoping an animation quality upgrade in S2
