| Welp, the Empire decides to talk to a neutral state, aka Ildoa. This wasn't a coincidence with the Empire's recent move. As their ally, it seems they didn't want to be involved in any wars at all. Who could go wrong? On the other hand, they managed to nail down Tanya's personality as usual. Seems like a buildup episode. |

| This was a wonderfully relaxing episode! A vacation around Ildoa is definitely a lovely thing to experience, especially for Tanya, where she gets to eat all this exquisite, highly nutritious food; lmao, her reaction and explanation are adorable, very Shokugeki no Soma-like! In hindsight, this might be the only chance she gets to eat good food in a long time, seeing as how the Empire's resources are exponentially drained from fighting a multi-theatre war. I worry about Tanya's growth. Don't tell me she'll have stunted growth 😭 Regardless, the Ildoan Kingdom's prosperity in times of peace is a huge contrast to the Empire; from their officers to random civilians off the street, everything is brighter and more colourful than it is everywhere else. And if EVEN THE LOGICAL TANYA felt a pang of envious jealousy just from this fact, can you imagine how the Politicians back in the Empire would react knowing how they dream of prosperity themselves? It's no wonder the Empire is looking into invading Ildoa despite them being a 'neutral ally'. However, as Tanya said herself... "If you're nobody's enemy, you're also nobody's friend" Relaxing episode, but this ep is the calm before a storm; I can already smell the bloodshed. At least Tanya, Visha and the boys get to have their day of vacation and splurge with Ildoan's money lol! |

| Finally an episode where I don't spend half of it dozing off at the edge. It is funny how Tanya reacted with some Shokugeki-esque looseness when she tries off Ildoan food. Also, what are up with those trippy dream sequences, it really made me laugh. But alas, Ildoa is peaceful, and in some way, Tanya feels jealous of the situation and wants to "surrender". And though we didn't see much of the rest of the mages, deep inside, everyone enjoyed their stay in a place that actually has peace. By this point, we seem to have an idea that a third season is coming after this, considering that this has been a very slow-paced season if you watch it week by week. As an anime-only onlooker, I can only imagine how the light novels went about. If it was laid out with this kind of pace, then the anime crew did its job in adapting this season that has been full of build-up in the middle of some fireworks. Yet, in 2026, Youjo Senki has been that kind of show, it still has its action-packed sequences and some comedic sequences here and there. Yet, just like the Empire's situation, it has been some dog days. When there's no action and the awkward comedy in-between, all you get is dread, overthinking, and some dissent, as the war continues to go longer and longer and longer. |

| Calm ep Looks like Ildoa has everything that the Empire envisions for themselves. Literally everything is of a higher quality than anything the Empire produces. Tho, their neutrality ploy is too obvious to Tanya. Bro ain't wrong. Not everything seen is the only thing out there. Considering how stupid the Empire can be, an attempt to subdue Ildoa can definitely happen. 8/10   |

| Alright, I had to check to make sure I was watching the right show. Unlike in most animes though, the sudden genre shift to Gourmet actually serves a purpose here. Ildoa claims they're an ally to the Empire, but these luxurious conditions prove that they've taken on none of the hardships of the war. Ready or not, war will come to them, but the sheer stupidity of the Empire being the one to bring it is difficult to express. No doubt the politicians think they can just walk in and conquer the place for themselves. |

| Thought I was watching shokugeki no Tanya at the begining there but it just shows how prosperous a land without war can be but unfortunately everything was hinting at Ildoa getting dragged into the war and yeah that's exactly what's gonna happen. The worst thing about war is how quickly it spreads. Post credit scene was hilarious btw. |

| “If you’re nobody’s enemy, you’re nobody’s friend” Think this is the first time we’ve ever seen Tanya be genuinely jealous? And who could blame her for getting angry at the ildoans? What was even the point of them inviting the empire to tour the capital besides showing off and bragging that their country is flourishing, has ample delicious food, not burying the dead etc., while the empire is on the verge of collapse? Tanya just got back from a deployment where they only had rations to eat and these mfs getting fat on seafood and pasta. Feels like they just wanna larp as allies or being in a war, but they’re not actively contributing and even when they do, it’s half assed so they’re edging their bets in case the empire loses so they haven’t pissed of the United Kingdom and the federation. With friends like those who needs enemies? “The reality is we’re doomed” Well, at least someone in the empire has a brain. I honestly don’t really hate the conquering Ildoa sentiment from leadership, but tactically it’s a disaster waiting to happen and politically it would be far better to convince them to finally help out rather than betraying your ally and occupying them which would foment more hate for the empire and create the risk of rebellion in occupied territory. The empire are already stretched thin so risking opening another front of conflict is just too risky. The leadership’s dreams of reparations and conquered lands is also so out of touch with reality, I really feel for Zettour, Tanya and everyone else that’s actually on the ground and being used as pawns by an incompetent group of rich old politicians who’ve never fought a war. Sound familiar? War never changes. |

| Aaaah. How much money do I need to throw at the studio to make a complete Shokugeki no Tanya spin off series? Seeing her enjoy what Ildoa had on offer was pretty nice to see and how much of a contrast it is to the daily life here compared to the Empire. I can't blame Tanya's soldier for not wanting to leave after they enjoyed their break here as well. Sadly, the reality of war has to rear its ugly head back in once again and I can't blame Tanya for her reaction after hearing about the higher ups considering an invasion of Ildoa. Honestly it feels like an inevitability that Ildoa will be invaded. Just a matter of when, not if. This episode, overall, captures that calm before the storm feeling rather perfectly. |

| While I do enjoy these slower episodes too, this season overall is just a bit boring compared to S1. With the talks from Reruden earlier I actually expected them to launch a surprise attack on Ildoa here. That, or possible try a military coup in the empire.. Kinda funny that its the military which wants to end the war ASAP considering real ww1. Though Rudersdorf is the one to blame, he said full of conviction he could bring the empire victory. I actually wonder where the ressources from taking western europe are. I would expect those to only rise with post war governments in place. |

Even if you're victorious, or did managed to survive. Attacking your only ally and swallowing them isn't gonna look favourable to your enemies, your own troops and people, and history.
However, given how dire things are with the war. You're either with us or against us, pick a side. Allowing a new front to open up, or your ally leaking information to your enemies.
It's a bold move, one I can understand, leadership is asking too much.

| @Invade_le_yogurt its actually really stupid. Especially when Ildoa is indeed secretly supplying them fuel. Keep in mind they just pulled out of africa. Ildoa atleast is a neutral country, so no enemy will come through it. Take it over and suddenly you have to garrison all of Ildoa because its all coastline and the enemy has naval superiority. |

Atleast I see Ildoas point here, they already offered peace for the empire and they declined, this is basically them saying "focus on self improvement, look how much better off you could be". Though I dont get why they claim to be allies while also claiming neutrality. |

It sucks cos even if they've been very slimy about avoiding making their alliance with the empire official when it matters and are enjoying the benefits of peace at the empire's cost, they don't deserve to become the victims of an ever-expanding belligerent power and get dragged into such a destructive and bloody war. Although, isn't it a bit silly for the empire to be considering opening up a new theatre of war against a declared neutral power, even if their opponent is wholly unprepared for war, given their current situation? Surely the Western allies wouldn't just let them take over Ildoa, or fail to take advantage of their split military force. Also, how on earth is Tanya carrying a completely stuffed rucksack about the size of her own body so casually at end lol? |

| Those food scenes were pretty funny. Tanya was doing the rounds this episode, she had to see so many people. That was a tense final discussion, they are screwed but might have a chance if they invade and take over Ildoa. |

It's hard being a patriotic soldier when your top leadership are buffoons Ildoa is doing right with their strategic neutrality. They're after all holding an important gateway to the mainland while being neighbors to a warmongering empire. |

| there are a crapton of 'lil nuggets of wisdom' you gain from studying military history/science as well as the general subject of world history. one of the oldest ones, Napoleon himself illustrated this one when he totally messed up... 'Never invade Russia in the Winter.' well, this one actually means never get anywhere near Russia in the Winter. period. ever. don't invade. don't occupy. don't defend. stay the heck away from there as much as possible. another one LOTS of soldiers and generals etc. have figured out... TONS of times... but these buffoons in 'the high leadership' of the government Tanya has to answer to have totally ignored... 'Never fight a two front war.' now The Empire has a Northern Front, a Western Front, and an Eastern Front... annnd the morons are exploring a Southern Front? with!? all these problems i'm about to list, they want a NEW offensive into 'Italy'? they can't keep their countrymen fed at home without rations. no fresh bread and no fresh meat and no fresh veggies. their infrastructure systems are crumbling due to lack of maintenance and improvements. the rail systems are falling apart. their logistical and support leaders in the military supply command structure are failing miserably. one guy, ONE guy in high command gets 'shipped to the front' and that entire offensive operation goes pfffffftthhh like a balloon with a leak because not enough beans bullets and boots made it to the troops. the tactical and strategic command system is broken utterly. while she's away on her 'friendship trip', Tanya's two officers are arrested and then freed. when those guys' superiors couldn't think 'outside the box' fast or accurately enough to listen to the soldiers in-place and let them fight properly. so, her two guys take initiative and keep everybody's bacon from being burnt to black ash and they still get arrested? Tanya's statement during her chat with the general was entirely correct. They're doomed. |

| Well in this world Ildoa only provided supplies to the empire but never fought alongside them. Still a country that has never known war was a nice contrast to the empire. Visha sure can hold her beer. Im glad that they enjoyed their day at Ildoa. Disconnects between reality for those in the rear is all too common. Senior leaderships warped desires would be the death of the empire one day. Visha needn't fret Tanya bought far more lol. |

| This episode is excellent for illustrating Tanya's moral character: she is neither drawn to chaos nor driven to avoid it at all costs; she feels concern just as anyone else would, yet she always evaluates the causal factors involved. This explains why her perspective on Ildoa seems contradictory: she detests the populace's ignorance regarding events outside their country, yet she acknowledges that the roots of this social phenomenon do not warrant making an entire civilization suffer. It differs from the alienation in the name of ''progress'' found in the Empire, or the alienation for "just cause" seen in the Russian Federation. |
| Once again, the OST was excellent. The scenes tasting the Ildoan food were perfectly done. The composer is doing a nice work with the tracks for dialogue and calm-reflexive scenes like in this episode and ep 7. Still need to improve with the tracks for action scenes (that doesn't mean they are bad though). |
| Not that much happend this episode, mostly pleasantries and politics. I guess every anime these days needs a Food Wars episode xD |
