 The official website of the Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman) anime series revealed additional cast and an action promotional video for the second season on Monday. The new season adapting Shigeru Sagazaki's fantasy adventure novel is scheduled to premiere on July 8 at 11.45 p.m. on TV Asahi, followed by AT-X and BS Asahi.Cast Hanoy Cressa: Takashi Kondou (91 Days) Kuriu Rybark: Hiromu Mineta (Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru) Prim: Mami Uchida (Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku) Morris Pasyushka: Hiroshi Yanaka (Naruto) Rock-band UNICORN (Uchuu Kyoudai) is performing the opening theme "Kurenai no Ha." Music band BLUE ENCOUNT (Banana Fish opening theme) is performing the ending theme "Mikansei." Akio Kazumi (Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku) directs the anime at Passione and Hayabusa Film. Kunihiko Okada (Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai) is handling the series composition. Satsuki Hayasaka (Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki) is designing the characters and serving as the chief animation director. Yasuharu Takanashi (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu) is composing the music. Sagazaki began writing the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020. Square Enix began publishing the light novel under its SQEX Novel imprint in April 2021, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima (Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou). The tenth volume was released on December 25 last year. A manga adaptation by Kazuki Satou began in Young Champion magazine in August 2021. Akita Shoten published the ninth volume on June 26. J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English in October 2023. The ninth volume went on sale on January 16, with the tenth volume scheduled for an August 10 release.
