Nao girl how do you keep getting in these predicaments😭 first of all, why would you listen to the lawyer who already tried to scam you just a few weeks(in-universe) ago? If that’s not bad enough, then you get to the venue and fall right into Fukunaga’s trap by broadcasting to everyone that you have a bunch of money?

Jesus Christ just wear a sign saying come rob me at this point. I know she has to be naive for the story to work, but surely they could give her SOME semblance of a brain?? Then if all of that weren’t bad enough, she proceeds to try and make a deal with Fukunaga who tried to betray you in the previous game and betrayed their own teammates in the subsequent round lmao? Can this girl do nothing without Akiyama??

And to the surprise of absolutely no one, Fukunaga reveals she’s playing Nao like a damn fiddle and about to get her kicked out the game 😭 girl you are so slow I swear. I did NOT expect to see Fukunaga damn near stomp buddy to death tho, clearly her plan relies on Nao being isolated and having no friends, so when Akiyama shows up next week it’ll be her worst nightmare. Can’t wait

I still waiting for that moment when Nao starts to think for herself.

But it will be interesting to see how she gets out of this one, not even sure what Akiyama can do for her this time.

Anyone else getting tired of how stupid Nao is. This isn't even in the realm of foolishly honest, this is just idiocrasy. You had a way to heavily penalize her so she wouldn't betray you AGAIN (M tickets) and Nao just trusts her.... at this point, I want her to lose.

This, this right here, is why you are in the Loser Game Round, Nao. I have had a lot of patience with her, but trusting that tranny bitch was the epitome of "Too stupid to live". Did the fact that he would probably want revenge for the last round never even once cross her mind? How has this child survived this long?
Waiting for our hero to arrive, after all, I realize Nao is just bait to get him involved in this very shady competition.

@OGSenna I stop caring about Nao becoming smart or whatever char dev she would have. I just continue for Akiyama and for the games. Akiyama is the MC for me lol I don't care if he's "2nd lead", he is still a MC for me. I'm more pissed at fukunaga being the beach he is

Akiyama figured out that Nao was in some kind of trouble because the calls from Nao stopped. He knows Nao wouldn't suddenly stop calling because she is someone who feels naively appreciative in a persistent way.

I find it amusing that a story written 20 years ago which criticizes and even antagonizes the mixing of stupidity and honesty is still criticized today by people who continue to think that way. The medium of anime and manga always exaggerates everything. You can believe that there is secret organization in Japan which can do these things to people with such a degree without a trace but you can not convince yourself that a character can be naive and honest to a fault?

I can believe both.
What I would NOT believe is Akiyama coming EXACTLY at the right time to save her.
That would be some bs level of coincidence, enough for me to call it deus-ex-machina.

If Nao can pull herself out of trouble (maybe with just minimal external support from Akiyama, if we want to include him in the arc), then it would show character growth and would feel earned after 9 episodes of her relying entirely on him. I would applaud.
If not, she should face the consequences.

She already got one "get out of jail free" card too many in round 2, after Akiyama did all the dirty work in round 1.
If she gets the same treatment in this game, then she clearly wears a 5-inch thick plot armour and will never face consequences for any bad decision... killing any storytelling tension in the process.

Hey, my comment was not for you, I was talking about people who mistakes Nao's honesty with stupidity, or being dumb. Akiyama is the brain that is trying defeat this organization and Nao is his key and ally. In a way she is the ultimate ally because you can be certain she will not betray no matter what. Everyone is mistaken Akiyama being the deus-ex-machina but in this game of liars if you have someone like Nao, that is the deus-ex-machina. This is what everyone is mistaken about.

I will not spoil what happens next but you are on the correct path with your guesses but mind you we are still at the very beginning of the story.

I understand her value in the game, exactly for what you say: an ally that will NEVER betray you in a game where EVERYONE ELSE will do, feels almost like cheating. :)

My theory on how Nao will get out of this mess is the following:


I hope Nao COULD come up with the first part of the plan by herself. Maybe the second part will be laid out by Akyiama. Or maybe she'll surprise me and will come up with everything by herself.

I don't mind spoilers too much, so feel free to tell me how close/far I am to the real solution, but please don't get into details, as those are the most interesting part, and I'd like to figure them out or get to know them through the show.

Nao's overly naive gullibility gets on my nerves, but I'm curious how she'll turn the tables in this game.
