Poor Tanya, she just can't live a peaceful life. LOL!
Her tactics are so fucking hilarious. The way she was getting swayed away only to get hold by Viktoria when the post got hit was just fucking peak.

I'm sad Lt. Weiss got shot ): the anime service I'm watching from still hasn't gotten the new episode and is going to have it in 5 days so it left off with a cliffhanger.

Tanya is too good at, and too into, military tactics for her own good

It's not like me to watch this one day late but yeah just feeling a little skid with this season overall. The battle that will be blown out of proportions has cometh and Tanya finds herself and her men surrounded by a surprise attack. Also UGER IS SUSPICIOUS, WHO IS THE SPY AT THE EMPIRE?!!!

And finally, Tanya freaking out during that whole chatter with Zettour was one of the most comedic Youjo Senki we will ever get.

Tanya and her companies are pretty much COOKED !!! Still waiting on the God to come taunt her when she’s at her lowest and seems like it’s coming real soon.

Now the show resembles more Legend Of The Galactic Heroes than Saga Of Tanya The Evil.

THAT WASN’T JUST A CLIFFHANGER. The Whole Episode Was a Trap

Review : Saga of Tanya the Evil II Episode 5 | 9.0 ⭐

This episode never needed constant combat to feel dangerous. The performances keep every conversation alive, especially through Tanya’s behavior and Loria’s deeply unsettling obsession, while each exchange tightens the trap around Soldim. By the time the battle erupts, it feels like the episode has been loading that final blow from the start.

DIRECTION 9/10

The escalation is what makes the episode hit so hard. Tanya’s collapse into a black void turns a strategic disaster into a visual panic attack, while Zettour’s calm bait reveal lets every look and pause land before the truth sinks in. The cross-cutting between competing plans keeps widening the pressure without losing clarity, then the editing accelerates as the siege closes around Tanya’s unit. It is a controlled crescendo from political confinement to battlefield chaos.

PRODUCTION 9/10

The acting is the episode’s greatest strength. Tanya communicates as much through her eyes, posture, and sudden breaks in composure as she does through dialogue, but the supporting cast adds just as much value. Zettour’s restraint makes his decisions colder, and Loria’s voice and almost obscene gestures turn his obsession into a signature all its own. The vocal performances sustain the quieter scenes before the flight formations, shields, blasts, impacts, and radio interference take over. When the music and sound design finally break their restraint, the climax changes intensity completely.

WRITING 9/10

The trap works because every result has a clear cause. Tanya proposes using a decoy, only to become the bait herself because burning Moskva made her impossible for the enemy to ignore. Zettour then removes one of her mage companies and fixes her position at Soldim, while the enemy’s overwhelming numbers and Loria’s demand to capture her alive add separate threats to the same battlefield. Strategy is never just discussed here. The episode proves it by letting the plan close around its own protagonist.

IMPACT 9/10

The acting stayed with me most, but the final scene made the episode impossible to shrug off. The aerial clash is quick, clean, and violent, with soldiers forming up, colliding, and getting trapped as the soundscape becomes increasingly overwhelming. Then Weiss takes the hit. He is not a random soldier but a genuinely important member of Tanya’s unit, so the sudden silence in his communications lands as real worry for his fate. That cut made the wait for the next episode feel urgent.

CONCLUSION

The cliffhanger is only the final snap of a trap that has been tightening all episode. Every quiet order, personal obsession, and calculated sacrifice pushes Tanya toward Soldim, where strategy finally draws blood. Weiss’s uncertain fate makes that cost personal, and the episode earns its ending long before the last shot.

And everithing beggins to fall apart, as politics gets more important than actually logical objectives. And reason gives in to emotions.

Poor Tanya. She thought they were so close to peace. Just to learn that they in fact arent, and her boss upset the higher ups. Using Tanya as bait is such a hilarious idea.
They nailed her facial expressions. Seeing her fly across the screen at the end of the episode actually made me laugh out loud. I love the comedy this season has.
