Ahahah... any macaroni fuckers watching this show right now?

I love it when Tanya changes her speaking manner to declare her loyalty. And that will of course come back to bite her in the arse

The Ildoa Colonel finds out what kind of devil is on the frontlines

Her inner thoughts are naturally hidden from others.

And so... sunk cost fallacy wins. More mud and snow for ya, Tanya!

Nobody is in lockstep with anyone else. One of the brilliancies of Youjo Senki is the in-depth analysis of the conflicting opinions and their consequences on the world scene. I think Carlos Zen must be very happy with this season so far. It's a wonder Tanya isn't schizophrenic by now with the stark dichotomy between her inner and outer personas. Is she really the only logical being in this entire universe? I can't stop laughing.

I guess so since she has hundreds of years of knowledge into the future from where she came from and she knows where exactly the Empire is heading into.

Poor Tanya still wants her relaxation, but no matter how hard she tries for that dream scenario, reality keeps rearing its head up to her face and proceeds to drag her back to the hell hole she's used to by now! XD

Either way, seeing her being ruthless towards the mediator guy was satisfying and a showcase of her skills and observation of the enemies and their tactics. With the plan for peace negotiations falling flat on their face, it's interesting to see who within the empire could clash with each other due to their differing views on the war as it stands.

One thing for sure, I see plenty more fighting and for the action simp inside of me, I couldn't be more happy with that.

"Eat Shit", the Empire just don't want to catch a break.

The Ildoans or the Macaronis have made their move and tried to be the peacemakers between the Empire and all the jazz. Even Tanya want to call it quits and just want to catch some rest at her bed but nope everyone else insists to keep fighting on. At this point, thanks to this ultimate rejection, maybe the Ildoans will join the fight against the Empire to clap back.

Lmao, Tanya just made it a point to the Ildoa war observer that even the Imperial commanders on the frontline have utmost loyalty to the Empire's orders and would follow them obediently. That is not entirely true; they just so happen to see how Tanya operates, and nothing is more terrifying to both allies and enemies than soldiers who are absolutely loyal and obedient.

At long last, we're seeing the Kingdom of Ildoa move for the first time. As a neutral nation, they can serve as the ideal country to be the mediator for negotiations between the Empire to bring about the end of this World War and achieve the 1 thing ALL countries want most, including the Empire... Peace.

Tanya and General Zettour have already established their own individual expectation, as the 2 character in this story with the most intellect and the most logical mindset and outlook, they have it in their belief that ending the World War as early as possible would be good for their own selves and the Empire's future. For Tanya specifically, that would mean she gets to retire to the rear as a military officer in peacetime, safe and sound...

However both Tanya and General Zettour greatly underestimated the Concorde effect AKA the sunk cost fallacy that ALL OTHER SOLDIERS perceive. From a lieutenant Weiss to General Kurt, they cannot look past the years of suffering, millions dead, cities and landscapes destroyed, and millions or billions of money spent in this military campaign. To them, the World must pay for the Empire's pain, and if the World does not submit, then the Empire will make them pay.

Yet another chance to end the war, blown to smittereens.

Sad, but true, peace without any profits can't be accepted for non democratic leaders, if only because said leader would probably end up committing suicide by getting thrown out of window...

After 3 episodes, this show is really starting to bore me.
It's not anything like the first season, in fact the movie kinda started to ruin it. Especially the Mary Sue arc, which felt really forced and contrived. I mean after being shot 5 times at point blank range, she lived? That was just plot armor which is the lowest form of story telling.
This season is less about Tanya and is ridiculously complicated for no real reason. The gimmick of it being like her own timeline but different is completely gone. It's almost entirely the same except for the magic.
I don't know. Something is just lacking. Maybe it's the novelty or maybe it's actually changed, but it just doesn't really hold my attention anymore. Nothing is really happening but talking and political scheming compared to the 1st season.
Like I said, kinda boring.

REVIEW: SAGA OF TANYA THE EVIL II EPISODE 3 | 8.7 ⭐

CRAZY!!!

Tanya barely raises her voice here, and that is exactly why every sentence feels dangerous. She does not need a grand speech or a wild outburst. Her mindset turns a conversation into a battlefield, then lets the artillery finish the thought. The explosion is not the beginning of her attack. It is the full stop at the end of an argument she has already won.

The church scene is where the episode becomes completely insane. Calandro invokes the convention believing morality and law have given him a shield. Tanya calmly strips it away one condition at a time: the agreement is reciprocal, the Federation never signed it, and nothing visible identifies the building as a protected religious site. By the time she places the binoculars in his hands, he is no longer challenging her reasoning. He is being forced to complete it.

When Calandro answers “No,” the pause lands harder than a shouted order. Then the artillery erupts. The sound, the blast, the debris and his body hitting the ground make the trap physical, while Tanya’s “Thank you for your cooperation!” turns the knife. She has not merely destroyed a church in front of him. She has made his own answer serve as the authorization, and that is absolutely brutal.

What makes the exchange even better is that both sides leave it convinced they won. Tanya believes she has proved that the Empire can accept peace if the conditions are rational. Calandro and Gassman see an officer whose obedience can be exploited. The same words create two opposite victories, and that gap is where the coming disaster is already hiding.

Weiss brings that idea down to its most human level. He knows that ending the war now would save future lives, yet his pauses and clenched fist reveal what he cannot accept: that all the blood already spilled might have bought nothing. Tanya recognizes the sunk-cost trap immediately, but naming it changes nothing. Her reasoning remains correct; for the first time, being correct feels almost useless.

The ending proves why. The proposed peace terms are almost exactly what Tanya anticipated, yet the Empire rejects them anyway. The wine glass shatters as Operation Iron Hammer is announced, and diplomacy dies with it. Peace does not fail because it was impossible. It fails because the people controlling the war can no longer accept what ending it would mean about every death that came before.

The episode is not visually alive during every exchange. Some dialogue shots stay held longer than they need to, so the visual energy is not constant. Yet the pressure never depends on spectacle alone: eyes shift, hands tighten and postures harden before sound and sudden movement tear through the stillness. Calandro’s fall, the smoke, Weiss’s fist and the glass bursting across the room hit because the episode has made us wait for each release.

What stays with me is not the scale of a battle. It is one word, one destroyed church and one broken glass proving the same thing from opposite ends: logic can win an argument, expose every contradiction and still be powerless to make people accept the price of peace. That is the kind of episode that keeps growing in your head after it ends.

Direction 9/10 | Writing 9/10 | Production 8/10 | Impact 9/10

Looks like the empire is falling victim to a sunken cost fallacy where they feel like they have spent way too many resources for them to just agree to restore things to how they were before the war started, even though that outcome is probably the least risky one out of all the options they have. In these kinds of situation people are often not driven by logic and rationale but by their emotions and feelings.

The scene of the artillery attack on the town was so impactful and horrifying, especially with the collapse of the church building. The sound design was great. Of course it wouldn't be the same show without some alleged war crimes taking place.

Yet again Tanya's cold logic is betrayed by the pride and emotions of the higher ups, it seems she will never get that comfy city life she so desired at the start of the show. Its funny that her initial reaction to her subordinates and the soldiers on the front lines having a different outlook on the sacrifices of the war were that the higher ups would need to kill them all though, something tells me the inevitable post-war trial will not be kind to her at all.

I can totally see Tanya fleeing to Argentina
@Kheyes

Considering her competence, she might even be hired by the US-equivalent.

Yeah you wouldn't have wars without fools or greedy people to begin with lol. So much for peace. Tanya's hell continues. It'd be surprising if this new guy from Ildoa don't have any meaningful role to play in upcoming events though.
