It would've cost them nothing to have made her be 18 or 20 or something.
Yet, they did it anyway for no reason other than cheap shock value and fetish fulfilment.
Not beating the slop allegations already.

@LeaseDue At least having no romantic involvement with a 15 yr old is palatable, what would be the excuse if she was 20?

Haha, watching first two episodes, this is just another incel "white man saves the day for weak/stupid brown people and breeds them" fantasy.

No wonder this is highly rated here, it's just Pocahontas in anime form. The fact that people here aren't even blinking an eye over "15 year old" and calling their relationship "sweet", says a lot.

I did find it funny how even the village chief is white toned compared to the rest of the villagers who are marveling the white guy's accomplishments, they couldn't even make the one "wise" person in the village brown enough.

This is pretty much Andrew Tate/MAGA/Japanese (underage love interest) power fantasy combination overload.

Also, having conversations with fucking sheep kinda was more than enough to rate this 1/10 already. We know exactly how low-IQ this anime is going to be at this point.

@1List2RuleThemAl Why are you talking out of your ass? He probably won't even hug the girl until she's 18 and you're acting like it's a harem. lmao

I thought the whole thing was written stupidly. He has always been a loyal soldier and even when he didn't get any money he didn't mind. Yet he is offered marriage to a princess, and he turns it down? For 2 sheep? C'mon this guy hasn't been out in the boonies that long. If he wanted his land to become important what better way than to have the king indebted to you? He knew that addressing her as -san instead of -sama was an insult too. I was afraid this show would quickly degenerate into something like this :(

@MenchiK1 of course he turned it down. Why would he want an evil princess when he has a good family life already? You really think the princess wouldn't cause trouble if she moved in, especially because the village wouldn't want to reveal themselves to her.

That's going to be fairly problematic getting any kind of human village going, if they keep up the concealment.

It was obvious that Alna was referring to the sheep getting pregnant though; can't believe some of you fell for that.

I appreciate that Klaus got angry for the way Dias was treated. I loved this episode, Dias is such a great MC.

@Mirality

He didn't know she was "evil" until after he turned her down. Doesn't matter what I think, it's what the character, as he has been established" thinks. And he was established as a loyal soldier with no problem with the king. And getting a human village would be easier with the support of the royal family. This isn't someone who has spent years and years out here completely abandoning his culture and way of life for his adopted people. He has been here a few weeks and is still not used to how things even work out here. He has only known one way of life for 35 years, you don't give up something like that so quickly.

The sheep was obvious, I hope you are not implying I didn't understand. The sheep sound like a pain in the ass, what happens when you have a whole heard with dozens of pregnant females? They aren't all going to fit into your tent, and the humans would have zero time to get anything else done if leaving them meant they get stressed and die.

Alna sure is a bishoujo though I feel like her horn would be quite cumbersome... And the fact that it's basically a live lie detector kinda feels like a deal breaker though perhaps she can calibrate who it reacts to?

The age gap is weird, but tbh it’s realistic for the story’s setting and adds some world building. She entirely chose this for herself, basically forced him into it. He’s also planning to stick to his morals (although 18/38 is still weird from a modern perspective) so I’m not that concerned about their relationship. It’s pretty cute so far. The author could’ve easily made Dias 10 years younger and Alna 18, but instead consciously chose this uncomfortable age gap while pointing out that it’s problematic, so I assume there’s some meaningful intention behind this. I think I’m mainly disappointed because it means there probably won’t be as much romance between them as I might have liked.

I read a comment saying she's 15 so the author doesn't have to write any actual romance, she's just a wholesome wife. Makes sense to me.
@LostSpectre That’s kind of what it seems like, if they wanted to write romance they could’ve easily made a less problematic age gap. It’s not like declaring her to be underage serves some kind of fetish. She has that anime girl appearance where the author could say she’s anywhere between 15 and 25. I’m a bit disappointed tbh, I wanted to see them being a cute couple.

@LeaseDue What fetish does it actually fulfill? Like you said, she could’ve easily been declared 18 or 20 without even changing her appearance. Who’s going to like the show for this who wouldn’t have liked it if she was a few years older? Her young age is even presented as a negative. I feel like the author must have some other reason. Maybe they just wanted some reason for them to live together, but not start a full romantic relationship yet? Idk it feels weird, but not like pedo fan service.

@FlopDob Yeah, that would have been a nice story. Instead, he's probably going to be afraid to even hug her and their relationship will be almost entirely platonic, but then there isn't any romance tag for this series as it is, despite the premise. The author has the option to write a romance at some point, but I wouldn't hold my breath, and it surely wouldn't be this season, at any rate.

@Pepsi_Doggo That's your mistake. It's not a medieval setting. It's a FANTASY setting. Written by modern writers
It's alternate universe where they developed magic instead of technology, but still had a ton of time to develop (non pedo) culture. Hence their languages, hygiene, mannerisms, etc all resembling MODERN ones.
The people crying about "But but the setting!" are just cherry picking.

And guess what? It's a light hearted slice-of-life city builder cozy type of show.

But nevermind. Pedo bait first. <- would've cost them nothing to avoid this.
Would've been even better as they would need to write an actually compeling plot to justify their complex non-romantic relationship instead of "LOL, It's a loli. He's too old. Now LAUGH!".

It's so overdone. If you can't avoid it, atleast make it creative.

BTW, this show is rated PG-13. WTF is Japan doing? This ain't mature Game of Thrones. There is no excuse here.

I feel like it's mostly just a bunch of vocal troublemakers, or at least that's what I'd like to believe... Though it would be nice if instead of complaining they'd find something else to watch.

are you forgetting the part where he mentioned last ep he was an orphan with NO education? A modern 8 year old is probably smarter than Dias is.

his solution to fighting the turtle with obvious weak points was to just keep hitting its hardest part soooo, many 6 year olds could do better.

Lovely ED

Dias kingdom grows. Horn power is pretty op. Works as radar + reads soul.

Looks like (king maybe?) fooled gullible Dias and gave 0 gold.

It really looked like he was discarded. Would be interesting to see what happened. Corrupt kingdom it seems.

I know the age gap is unusual, but please don't veer the episode discussion thread into an argument over age gaps. Please focus on the anime itself, and avoid making statements that may offend other users.

My man Klaus will get some Oniussy. If he's a veteran, no doubt he will do well. Even though the girls are a little too tight, 15 might've been the age back then to wed in our history. There should've been large-breasted ladies and such, I will accept 18 or older for my homie. But I know bro won't touch her, she's cute.

I am here for the Baar's, they're adorable.

So Alna's only 16, not surprised she looks pretty young. Looks like Dias was supposed to get money and subjects but got fucked over by some middleman? The princess got a harsh reality check lol, Dias don't fucking care about princess ass. But nice he got an old friend with him now. Btw Francois and Francis are cute.

Phew, I was so worried they were going to pull some "despite how she looks, she's actually 50 years old, our species just ages slowly" bullshit, glad they actually made her the age she looks. I like realism in my magical fantasy dammit!

You just rambled a lot of contradictions there.
- It not "bullshit" for other fantasy beings like dwarves, elves, vampires, demons etc. to not look the way they aged?
- Don't expect "realism" in a magical fantasy because the very premise of fantasy was never based on realism. That's why it's called a fantasy.

I know he is supposed to be all brawn and no brains on purpose. But he was infact with the military, and has has audiences with the king and i imagine other encounters with nobility. I know the princess is a bitch and all. But when I rewatched the episode, he really doubled down on not using her title. I think that's quite possibly treason or some other pretty heavy penalty offense even if a noble. But dude does it twice?? Even. After being threatened/correctly immediately. Makes the same offense seconds later? Please don't end up being dumber then the mc from "i Parry Everything" please. Just dont.

So we went from "maybe he is 38 and she is 14" to "Wow he is actually 35 and she is 15", but then someone is gonna show up and say "but he is not gonna do anything with her until she is 18", that still is grooming, my guy. Not one unmarried 30 y.o. woman in this village? Even if recently widow.
And you are telling me there ws a previous lord, but not a single building? A place known for "savage" tribes and hordes of monsters, but not one fortress?
And of course we can't have our goldrenretriever protag be cause of someone being fired. Of course not
And then we have a hierarchy focused official who called a lord a peasant. Not to mention our social climbing hero not even know the princess. A commoner, nobled by the king who doesn't know anyone in the higher ranks.
After my ipressions with the first episode I did not want to watch the 2nd, but I decided t give it a chance. Guess I was right after all.
Fragile excuses for marrying a minor and piss poor wordlbuilding

This is an interesting turn of events. Even if the princess is evil, she is still the princess of the kingdom, the kingdom of which Dias is now a noble. For a noble, it is usually a requirement to send the kingdom military aid in its time of need. Obviously, he was not in the position to do so, but he pretty much phrased it in the worst way possible, humiliating the princess on front of her own subjects. So her grudge is actually quite understandable. On the other hand, while Dias is not the brightest, him knowing so little about proper etiquette is odd to say the least.
