It was Good with Animation and Fights
while they give a long Recap and why Elmas is having some Flashback of the slap given by his Father, He should better Move on and he is leveling very fast and unlocking quite good attacks

I hope he will make good companion along in next episodes

It feels like they're trying to save money on animation by repeating scenes or panning across static images.

I still find it entertaining because I like this kind of trope-y show 😬 Will be interested to see how it goes over the 26 episodes, and hope that it gets fairly far and tied up in the story in that time.

How noble of the spider to wait 10 minutes while the protagonist prepares for the battle

It immediately reminded me of Souls-like games, where even the weakest mobs show you absolutely no mercy and punish you for trying to take a sip of Estus. But here, a spider attacks, and the protagonist just starts checking out abilities and allocating stats. The difficulty level of the game the protagonist ended up in is the absolute easiest

I for one am not as bothered by how the animation looks compared to most others but trying to fill runtime by doing recaps and flashbacks and its only episode 2 is insanity. Using the father not caring about his class multiple times and there even was a recap of the MC beating the spider when we just saw it. Baffling

Love the fact that video game knowledge and mechanics like MP and defense and attack stats are in this anime, truly makes it an isekai but also allows for great battle mechanics such as when Elymas applied the debuff to use his rampart skill or to stop the spider from using it's one-shot move.

Also wanted Ares to shut up the entire time, but when Elymas got posioned glad to see he actually helped him (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

hmm it is unexpectedly quite ok.
If the studio reduces flashbacks in future eps and keeps similar pacing and overall atmosphere this might become the dark horse of the season.

I've been liking the show's content so far. The fight scenes are interesting and the studio is extremely artistic with its camera angles at all times. Plus, the character designs are awesome and unique.

However, a major flaw showed up this episode that I'm hoping isn't a repeat occurrence. Approximately 3 minutes, 45 seconds of the episode was scenes from the previous episode. 3 minutes were used for the OP and ED, which is standard. And 30 seconds at the end for a preview. Assuming 99% of shows use OPs and EDs, we can throw that out, leaving a typical episode at 20 minutes, 40 seconds. Adding the previous scenes that were pointless and the preview, 255 seconds of the 1240 second episode wasn't actual content. That's just over 20% of the episode! That's a crazy amount to me, and isn't even justifiable. This isn't a One Piece episode and they can't really expect the audience to have forgotten things from episode 1 when it's episode 2. I pray that this was a one-off thing and not an omen of what's to come.

I actually like the animation style, but this episode kinda disappointed me contrary to the first.

4+ minutes flashback scene throughout the episode. It's only episode 2!
While I understand the studio really like their animation, they focus on it so much it actively takes away from the story. It was fine in episode 1 to make it more dramatic overall, but in episode 2 it's just not warranted.
The class is absolutely broken. I was already grimacing when he said "Disarm reduces attack by 20%" but when it turned out it could stack...There is no real strategy involved in the fight. Just, 'my class is so broken I can three shot you LOL.'
Not a big fan of the 'adventurer rank is literally tied to your stats'. More generally, I feel like we went from litrpg to full game world. The issue is the overall execution, animation and music is going for a more serious tone, which clash with a full game world setting.

Disarm being an additively stacking -20% attack debuff is pretty nuts for a basic skill. Would have been cool if they also showed the spiders full stats too, even if just for the viewers, so we could do the math to see how consistent they are with their own mechanics.

@Paul it's not just nuts, it's a plainly broken mechanic that could never be implemented in a real game; just get 5 players with that skill together, and you'd reduce the attack of any mob, no matter how powerful, to zero.

It would make boss mobs pointless to even design. I'm reminded of a skill called "Manaburn" in an old MMO called Everquest, a class skill given to wizards where they could instantly consume all their remaining mana and turn it into damage to a single target. It didn't take a week before players realized that they could get groups of wizards together to one-shot all the boss mobs, reducing the difficulty of every encounter to calculating the number of wizards needed.

This "disarm" skill could be easily exploited in the same way. Keep 5x Disarm applied, and it doesn't matter how slow your damage output is, it's an auto-win button.

While this episode was good it wasn't as enjoyable as the first one with one main reason being, as others have said, that a lot of runtime was used on recapping and Elymas having flashbacks on his father disapproving of his class. Nonetheless it looks like he will be in a raid in the next episode and I think he'll have to watch out for one or more party members trying to sabotage him moreso than the mobs they'll be fighting.

I just gotta say, almost every game that has a skill like the attack reduction thing doesnt stack if its a percentage, but rather just resets a countdown for the same debuffs duration. Especially if said skill happens after every attack you land, I dont know why that would be still in the game, surely it would have been noticed. Just another one of those game in anime moments.

The story is pretty good so far. I'm not too crazy about how some of the scenes look animated with CGI because the way it is done isn't appealing at all. It gives me the same disconnected feeling I had watching those kinds of scenes in Failure Frame.

Episode 2 and we already had a long recap at the beginning and long flashbacks mid episode. We didn’t forget what happened literally last week so it annoyed me that half of the show was recycled material.

The rest of the episode was good and I enjoyed the fight scene with the spider. It gave a good sense of how Elma fights using more than just his strength. Also gave us good insight to the “societal view” of the defensive/heavy knight class. It’s not just his family of swordsman that look down on him but people in general due to his class.

Lmao, not just a 3 minute recap at the start, ANOTHER 20 second recap right after the middle card, and a flashback to a scene that happenes NOT TWO MINUTES AGO, plus several flashbacks to last episode. The source material doesn't sound that bad, why the insistence on directing it in the worst way possible? Do they need to reduce actual episode time to under 15 minutes to save money for the 3D CGI environments?

Arus got that shit-eating grin, I love it. It was pretty funny, but these expressions are sorta crazy on that black-haired lady. It's silly. Either way, 24 eps, I am in this ride.
We're all in this ride. (dumb site I am watching on got me seeing ep 2 first, oddly, this fits as ep 1, it was somehow easily consumable

This series is just good fun. I love the use of cgi, for me it's refreshing. This series is exactly what I was expecting and I'm looking forward to the jester waifu joining Elymas with her nice ass👍 GoHands is doing a great job and I do not care about the recap at the beginning of this episode, it's whatever. This guy at the end is gonna get shown by Elymas😆 And the ED is such a vibe, love it💙

watch 2 ep so far
Overbudget on animation and art
very slow pace
2 chapter manga per episode for fast action story
idk about light novel
and they love to repeat the scene so much
if the pace is getting better this will be solid 9.9 anime
but now the pace is broken 6/7 is good enough
when i read the manga the pace is better

overall this anime is just have some bad pacing

God and why tf is Arus here? As if this show wasn't shit enough already. Skipping over whenever Arus is on screen made this episode just slightly more tolerable. Good riddance. Please don't tell me he comes back.

And of course there's an adventurer's guild just like in every fucking generic fantasy anime ever...

I did not enjoy this episode. I skipped over any scenes with Arus, I didn't enjoy the fight because frankly I despise how this show looks (really not a fan of GoHands' style), and man I just can't stand this shows MMO/RPG elements. I'm tired of it.

1/5 again. I was thinking of dropping this train wreck after episode 3, but man I'm considering hate watching this, which is something I never really do, but this show and GoHands deserve it.

Episode 2 was even better than the premiere. It did a great job expanding the world while giving the main character more opportunities to showcase his strategic thinking. Instead of rushing the story, it took the time to build the supporting cast and explain the challenges ahead. The action scenes were smooth, the pacing felt balanced, and the ending left me excited for the next episode. So far, the series is doing an excellent job of blending fantasy, strategy, and character development. I'm really enjoying it and can't wait to see what happens next.
