This what I hate about many stories. If a stupid annoying character like Malice is introduced, I'll only ever be satisfied if she is killed or at the very least fully destroyed in the future. And yet she'll probably get the bare minimum of retribution, if at all. Redo of Healer continues to reign supreme. Also, the brief scenes of the future show little promise and seem very mundane. Our party members look uninteresting and generic. What a waste of a production on this story.

Why is the rating so high for this anime?
Animation looks terrible with CGI and AI
Story is nothing original.

I don't get this community.

Jesus, I know everyone is saying this, but the BG and camera move so much and so fast that it made me get motion sickness. Sometimes I was like, "Where the hell is my FOV slider"... The story is just out there, like any other "oh, I reincarnated inside a game", but the battle animations are good, though.

Idk, the graphic style screems like china. Also the cuts in some scenes make no sense at all.
Its trying its best to look unique and pompous, which it does, but i have the impression its hollow.
Could barely connect to the main char at any given time, which i consider a bad sign.

Goodness wow the animation in the beginning pretty much throw me off. I started getting naseous feeling like honestly it my first time watching this kind of animation and it's very nice to be honest. The camera angels and rotation is so well done considering ep 1. I already its manga, let's see how it goes.

now that is some animation going on there!

bro what kind of family is that?😭 dude get thrown off and a branch family member was chosen as heir just like that. lmao

this is gonna be my 2nd or 3rd reincarnation slop, so i think i might enjoy this a bit with dude's revenge.

man, that branch family girl is looks to be a crazy yandare type bitch. lol
guess it's to make her and father's defeat or realization satisfying.

well im interested to see the next episodes!

Absolute garbage.
Typical go hand direction. Suzuki has no clue how to present a story. he is too busy showing off new tech.

Story is literal bottom of the barrel slop.
///Video game mechanics? check
generic european fantasy world? check
boring exposition of everything that we need to know? check
nerd brained explanation of video game mechanics? check
laughably generic card board cut out characters? check
lame implied revenge story? check
weakest is actually the strongest? check
isekai-esque game knowlege as a cheat to get to the top? check

there is probably more I could mention but man this has already the makings of a 0/10 anime.

I feel so weird reading some of the comments, since it's the first time in at least 1+ year that I see an isekai anime and I think it might actually be good instead of immediately rating it as a 6/10 junk food at best. Well, I'm pretty sure I will end up disappointed by episode 3 or so, but still.
Though admittedly, the story isn't anything novel, and the animation is a bit overdone, if that makes sense. But the overall execution just hit the right spots for me.

Holy Moley that animation style is so fluid, it seems so unnatural watching it for the first time...but it was weirdly refreshing to watch as the episode went on.
Don't think everyone's gonna like it but if they can keep this up all season, I'd be more than happy to watch this peak!'

Elymas seems like a pretty cool MC, and ofc the heavy knight is gonna be the strongest class, strength and defense builds are the best and usually most OP in games!
Although that branch family girl was just straight on demon time to Elymas, however her introduction did have some outstandingly great "angles" ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

Anyway looking forward to the next episode and to watch Elymas slide around for half of it!

I was reminded that this is a GoHands production within the first minute after I saw the characters' hair smoothly flailing all over the the place plus the constant moving camera angles lol. On that note I don't mind that too much since this is mostly unique to GoHands plus they animate characters well. Anyways, I'm intrigued and vested to see Elymas grow and I like that he already knows that he will be successful based on the game he played in his previous life.

I really really like the manga of this, so, even though the animation is way different from what I'm used to, Im giving the anime a chance. So far they seem to be following the manga mostly, except for the added 5min future preview the studio inserted (and could have gone without honestly or executed it better instead of having random fighting scenes) The plot is just slightly on the slow side so I'm curious how the studio will handle that. I do wish GoHands would lesson the excessive camera angles and hair movement. Like, having a few more camera angles and hair movement then the norm is fine, but what's the point of all that movement if it just makes a good bunch of the viewers unable to watch it? Also, maybe smooth out some of the scene transitioning points so that the story doesn't feel so choppy or abrupt in a few parts. If GoHands wouldn't be so ... overzealous, I think they would be the perfect studio to animate Exiled Heavy Knight. A positive so far is that they are nailing the characters' expressive facial reactions that is seen in the manga lol. All I can say is if you can't stand to watch this but the plot still has your eye/ still curious, give the manga a try. I believe it has like 170ish chapters so far. Looking forward to the next episode and seeing how it goes.

Are we going to pretend this is not partially generated by AI or at least AI enhanced?

the direction is all over the place and backgrounds do not make sense, the animation is devoid of meaning, its completly empty. "omg so many frames" frames of slop... it is what it is.
the sequence doesn't tell a story, it doesnt even make sense.

Like please explain me why the lime from that lady dress cleaves the scene and lighting in half 💀

This studio has made good shows, thats why i KNOW this has something to it that doesnt feel right.

IKR? the direction is senseless. While yesx the camera angles of this studio arent for everyone they have proven with shows like K that they can tell a story with them and that they can make cool fights but this is ridiculous.

i have no concrete proof just ALOT of indicators this is total AI slop, maybe one of the 1st tries to make us consume low quality generated content...

@Alex_the_reaper Don't worry, the 2D animation is certainly not AI... although the confusing angles seem to be done on purpose, as if to disguise the inconsistency, the frames per second are still perceptible, meaning it was animated by people... otherwise, the animation would be absolutely fluid, even if distorted and inconsistent...
As for the backgrounds, they are made in a game creation engine, so it's not AI. Regarding the non CGI backgrounds, I don't know.

im not so sure. the flow is preety seamless in the tumbledryer shots, the issue is mostly direction, as if they're all over the place instead of following an harmonious motion with an objective, thats something animators of a decent studio wouldn't miss.
also wouldn't it require an insane budget to draw all those hairs by hand? it feels rly inconsistent, im not saying its generated but feels AI enhanced at least, like they used it to fill in shots.

For example in the introduction fight of Mc vs Malice she lands on a table in the same floor as he is but the next strike comes from her throwing themselves from the upper level into him.

Now that you mentioned the game engine it does justify the uncanny, almost as if the characters were stickers in a 3d world, but that passes as this is a game after all, but what rly gets on my nerves is, if this was done by hand, nobody reviewed it? because u can point something odd every 20 seconds or so

The animation in this is very unique and stylistic, and both parts beautiful and kind of like watching a 3D movie without glasses on. Also I can't tell if the hair animation is cool or slightly off.

I liked it once it got into the typical flow of "guy with OP class that everyone else thinks is weak" though. Kind of funny that it seems so obviously good, but I guess the other direct combat classes must be even more 'obviously' good.

@GooseHybrid Towards the end of the episode, in the forest, I also got the impression of "watching a 3D movie without glasses on". I suspect it was mostly because of good sound design, but the environmental art (which reminded me of open world RPGs) helped too. And unlike other isekai, I actually felt slightly immersed in the forest setting. Maybe closest previous time this happened was with Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash.

@Alex_the_reaper I understand... in case you don't know, all the strange things involving the production of this anime are intentional.
The main names in this studio like this art style, and they've been doing everything they're doing now in this anime for years, which includes... detailed hair, very peculiar camera angles, many post production effects and CGI/game engine made backgrounds.

I even like innovations, but these guys have terrible taste... if they stopped with the excesses and peculiar tastes, they would probably be a good studio.

@Desmascarado ofc i wont compare it to the giant cathousehusband or the middleschool romance with the gurl in glassed, but K was a very decent saga tho, the artstyle is similar but with very dramatic eyes and expressions, colors unaffected by lighting, alright but the tumbledryer shots were mostly used for fanservice showing bullets flying under panties or over boobs, the fights were well coreographed, here they seem totally senseless am i exaggerating? maybe judging too soon with few fights...

maybe im rly just rly hating on the background dissonance (that didnt happen before as they used 2d scenarios)...

@Desmascarado I appreciate your devotion to Grimgar's watercolor backgrounds, because, I too am appreciative of its art style and the effort put into it (thank you Atelier BWCA and rip). However, my original comment wasn't meant to equate the overall quality of this show's backgrounds to Grimgar's, but instead, it was meant to display the effect the environmental design/direction had to my own immersion to the fantasy forest setting.

That said, it is perhaps true that my tolerance to this show's art style is higher than yours and that I do not mind its blown out lighting.

I do like the artstyle honestly. It is new. It works i think. Mixing this kind of 3d with Anime style textures. but not pushing the 3d too much. It gives a interesting feeling watching the anime. It also feels more detailed. It is a good blend too. The 3d doesn't pop out too much.

It is a new animation style. At least i have not seen it before. But i also dont dislike it it. Maybe it is my ADHD brain that likes the business of the anime.

I hope that bitch Malice gets beheaded at some point or I'm going to be very disappointed.

Turns out the MC knows about this world because it's from a VR MMO he played obsessively, because of fucking course he did, just like in plenty of other generic trash fantasy anime...

Saw the animation and immediately knew it was GoHands. I didn't like how the OP looked and I'm really not a fan of how this show looks in general so far, at all. GoHands just has the gift of making shows that look horrendous to me.

There's skills, some quest system, stats, magic pop-up menus that show skills and stats, and levels... Because of course there are. Can't try to be at least a little different from all the other trash fantasy anime that release every season...

God, and then that screaming guy just had to show up and kill whatever minuscule amount of enjoyment I had while watching this. Are they supposed to be funny? Please do not tell me he's going to stick around >:(

I remember reading the manga a bit a couple years ago and it wasn't, like, good, but it was enjoyable genre fiction, much like how solo leveling isn't well-written, but it does the genre well enough, adds its own little spin to keep it engaging and a well-made adaptation of it was fun to watch. This adaptation unfortunately isn't good. I really dislike the direction. What's the point of spoiling the season at the start of the first episode? What's the point of these weird angles and mixed art styles and flying over 3D scenes in that very distinct "I learned Blender animation a week ago" kind of way? It feels less like a polished series and more like the extracurricular project of a group of talented, but ultimately still inexperienced highschoolers. And if that really was a sort of summary of the first season, presumably, hopefully leaving out a little extra for the viewer to discover, then why make that cut-off? From what I remember about the story, that just feels like a weird point to cut off. After everything I've seen so far, I'm not exactly confident they'll pull this off well. You're probably better off just reading the manga.

OK, I'm sorry but 12 mins in this first episode, WTF is this shit?

Just because you have a 3D world doesn't mean you move the fucking camera around every few seconds like it has ADD. Whoever this twat of a director is should never be allowed near 3D ever again.

Don't even get me started on the shitty script so far, but that could be because of the garbage editing and overdone 3D with camera doing random things every few seconds. This anime feels like a shitty JRPG where story, dialogues, action make zero sense. And of-course it has 7/10 rating here because people watching this shit these days are just easily distracted by tits and shiny AI graphics.

This anime is 100% using AI for characters, everything looks like the way AI generates anime art. The only thing they probably added on the characters is overdone hair.

EDIT: Dear lord I resumed watching the episode and it instantly transitions to a flyby of a generic medieval town, like a fucking video game. Not gonna lie, it gave me a good chuckle. I think I'll watch this anime just to see what 3D looks like in the hands of someone using shitty AI and discovering 3D in the first place.

Just marvel at this shitty AI generated model of the city. It looks like it was rendered in Google Earth:

EDIT 2: OK, finished watching and the issues with animation remain. The world is clearly generated with AI, the towns especially are not man-made and you can tell when they start zooming into the scenes. Characters have that shitty overdone animation with ridiculously overdone hair animations on top to distract you from the AI generated art.

Ignoring the art, this would be a servicble Isekai if it wasn't written awkwardly, or at-least the first episode is. The comically overdone evil characters, the terrible provided background for the MC, the generic enemies (frogs, really?), etc. I think it's incredible how zero imagination can get you far, as long as you use AI.

Wouldn't be surprised if the script for this show was generated by ChatGPT as well, it's by the books after-all.

Oh well, I'll watch it for a while and see if it gets better.

@ainochar you hate the animation? this is some of the best animation i've seen in ages, I assume they're using CGI/3D for the background scenes, but they're actually really good compared to 5-10 years ago. The camera angles are different for sure but in my opinion they're making it more interesting than the stagnant crap we've been spoon-fed lately. like Iseleve with their powerpoint panning slides lmao

@Danielt11 I'm by no means a Demon Slayer fan (I liked the first season, disliked the movie and dropped it after the Entertainment District arc which dragged on forever and indeed was just carried by the animation), but that animation is on a completely different level than this garbage. Most important difference: It serves a purpose.

The way I always look at GoHands is that they have an amazing toolbox with the best tools money can buy, but they have absolutely no clue how or when to use it. Just because you can do all kinds of weird stuff doesn't mean you should do it, and certainly not all the time. Anime is visual storytelling, so what animation you use at what moment does matter.
