Now that ended I can say. I think that the love triangle was utterly unnecessary. Covering the art part was great, the romance part the writing team just said "I guess is in the name?"

Lili for my lack of memory, she gone more British than I thought she could. Very Elizabeth from Bioshock.

Se ended up choosing both continuing her love for art and also inheriting the kimono family business by opening up a kimono store of her family in England with the help of Catherine. It helps that you have a rich friend LOL! We never saw her paint Elizabeth wearing a kimono though as they promised before everything went complicated because of the war.

Yeah, the love triangle is completely unnecessary but as the other works of Kamio-sensei, it is to be expected.

Overall I did enjoyed the series as a whole.

Love, trust, bonding, friendship...SIGN ME UUP!

The animation was STUNNING, it almost felt like watching a movie!

I love that the anime highlighted both the platonic and romantic dynamics.

I didn't feel like the love triangle was shoved down our throats, it felt very natural actually: in a time of uncertainty people tend to prioritize stability and practicality, so it makes sense that Lily and Shin decided to team up. Shin was not even deluded about that either. He always knew that Lily heart was elsewhere, but still, they decided to care for each other.

I'd would be lying if I said that the two protagonists didn't stress me tf out throughout the story. I was definitely frothing at the mouth at times. 😭😩
But I think that it adds to the rawness of it because there are people who are genuinely THIS bad at communicating.

One thing that cracked me up tho was their built- in radar to find one another across the globe. Google maps didn't even stand a chance. 😭

"Without you, every scene is a bore." I AM SCREAMING

I do think the love triangle was not necessary but it was nicely executed. Shin acted like a mature human being and by no means created any drama between Kit and Lili, on the contrary, he actually helped Lili and gave up his love for her just so she could be happy. Lili should have never accepted the marriage in the first place.

Does Shin moves on with someone new at the end? Before entering Joffrey's pub, I think we can see him and a lady walking by. Not sure though cause we didnt hear them mention who he came with. Maybe that was a stranger in the background.

Shin was an overall great guy though!

Does Dorothy end up with her fiance? I saw a portrait of Joffrey with his family in his pub. The woman looked like Dorothy but not sure?? Dorothy and Joffrey ship did not sail?

Glad to see Kit and Lili closure. Would've been nice to see them all together.

Interesting setting idea in this series but this finale and the romantic/storytelling aspect in general felt super weak to me. The first episode had promise but generally disappointed in how this ended up turning out. At least it helps that Shin wasn't a bad person I guess and respected Lili's feelings the whole time. Kit had some growth but was too dull for me to care for even by the end. Boys Over Flowers was not my thing either so this falling flat wasn't the biggest shocker. More focus on the art part earlier on would've been nice since the characters, personalities and bonds felt way too over the top and overbearing for me to enjoy (besides Shin and his lowkey vibe, although his involvement here mainly felt as a plot device for the triangle aspect).

Can I just start off by saying the Bob does not suit Lily at all
But It was a happy ending for everyone overall I don't like how Kit switches up so easy on being an aristocrat and taking his duty and whatever and this randomly glossing over it I understand that he got lost in whatever but still

The last few black-and-white episodes were a bit frustrating to watch, not gonna lie, but they still managed to wrap up the story in a very satisfying way. It definitely could’ve been better in some areas, yet overall I really enjoyed this anime. It’s genuinely unique, we don’t get shows like this very often anymore.

WIT Studio clearly poured their heart and soul into this project. I loved the background art, the music, and the overall aesthetic of the show.

I’d rate it a 9/10. It had the potential to be a perfect 10/10, but the ending didn’t hit me as hard as I hoped.

Holy shit the last few episodes were a roller coaster.
I am not a fan of love triangles normally but this was handled well.
Especially shin is a good character who took the rejection in a well matured manner and also supported Lili too. What a gentleman.

Lili and kit made me on the edge of the seat all the while but glad every thing worked out at the end.
Love and Art prevailed.

Overall great series, i enjoyed most of it thoroughly. The art, animation and sound design were consistent and chefs kiss.

Ill never forget that dance between kit and Lili, so well choreographed with the background scenic imagery. I ate that up.

Sasuga wit studio.
The story was well written and crafted with love, yoko kamio with another banger.

I would give it a solid 8.5/10

In general, the female main character (lili) is emotionally and physically abusive towards the male character (Kit), who just accepted all the abuse. Her friends were all absolute enablers.
Main character lacked maturity, so it was hard to watch it.

How many time skip do you want? Yes, mummy.

Jokes aside, this is a very solid historical drama. I'm not a fan of time skip at all especially if it's used way too much like this but I guess I'll give a pass this time. While the character writing is great and the tid bit of comedy thrown in is also really nice, the romance part of the show is kinda sucks ngl. The main pair do have a great chemistry together and I could see them as one. But I don't really like Kit's character all that much tbh. I like that their romance was found through admiration and respect but I can't help to feel frustrated a little for how cold and inexpressive he is. The last few episodes really make me feel like wanting to fast forward just to finally see them get together. There's barely any intimate or romantic moments until the very last episode which is kind of irks me a little. Thank God they make Catherine and Lili finally could open a collaboration boutique together. I really love their friendship the best and Catherine managed to wins my heart as new favorite character so that's really commandable of her. I like how they keep their integrity tight as they really work hard to live their life as a true artist should be. Finding their calling and purpose in painting theme is really well done. I couldn't help feel just a little bit to push myself for my own dream too.

To paint is to live. To paint is to love.

Some people are divided on the love triangle. Personally, I don't think it felt unnatural. I do think it was unnecessary and stretched out for far too long. The problem is that this anime was draggjng for these past 3 episodes, to the detriment. The more the anime dragged, the more I lingered on the flaws. The more I lingered on the flaws, the lower the score got.

I think focusing on the love triangle took away from exploring other characters or cultures in relation to art. We see Kit vs Shin and their art. Shin's intricate wood art and Kit's paintings. Though we don't really explore the art of others. Lili doesn't do sculptures, so how does she paint? We briefly see her using a Japanese utensil to draw with, but that's it. Peter is from India. How is his art? Peter is frustrated that he ultimately wasn't talented in comparison to Lili, Shin, and Kit. Okay, can we explore that more? No? Okay.

I can reapect that it wanted to explore more on the romantic front; however, the romance wasn't the best. The love triangle felt natural, but it overstayed its welcome. The miscommunication thing is fine for teenagers, but weird for adults. A 5 year time skip, makes Lili 25, and she still felt rather immature. Once again, the mangaka didn't really improve her writing relative to Boys Over Flowers. Boys Over Flowers was a great read in middle school, but come on...

Man, I completely underestimated this anime. They manage to balance out the serious romantic moments with the lighthearted fun/comedic moments, both of them RARELY stepping on each other's toes. The art style, animation, music, all of it is just pure perfection.

As for the love triangle, I feel like it works because of the uncertainty that everyone was dealing with at that time. I mean, war breaks out in Europe and so Lili and Shin are suddenly called back to Japan, meanwhile Kit suddenly serves as a diplomat? And on top of that, everyone thought Kit was dead for 5 years. Lili and Shin were just seeking stability in these dark times, which isn't completely unrealistic.

I don't think this anime needs a second season. The ending is perfect as is. No reason to add on.

Welp, it's been a fun ride, but all journeys must come to an end. Love Through A Prism gets a 10/10 and is one of the best anime I have ever seen.

The time skips were rather unnecessary.

Shin was best boy. Kit can't communicate for shit.

But I see why Lili x Kit makes sense, they speak to each other's artistic side. And I love how art was portrayed throughout.

Was it silly they only knew each other for 6 months, waited 5 years for a first kiss and then finally travelled the world together? Yeah.

But the animation alone was stunning, it's overall a beautiful piece.

I adore Lili and Kit. It was truly a slow burn and their love confession was truly very heartwarming.
I do feel like 20 episodes wasn't enough. I doubt there will be extra stories. However, at the end of post-credits, I have questions about the other characters. Did Shin meet someone new while he was studying in Italy? He does deserve to be happy as he's a lovely gentleman. I can't really tell what happened between Dorothy and Joffrey either as the story. Who is the father of her children?

This might have been a tad sappy, but it felt so sincere. Despite the obstacles, pursuing their passion for art helped Lili, Kit and Shin achieve true happiness at the end.

I wanted to see Lili wear the Silver Lilly again at their wedding, but the cave scene felt far more fitting for their relationship.

8/10, those last few episodes got a standing ovation in my living room lol.

I don't often give 10/10 but this one got it.

I didn't think the triangle was unnecessary. It felt realistic of how relationships form after shared loss. Lili & Shin both lost somebody important to them and were finding comfort in each other. Plus Kit told Shin to take care of her giving him permission should something happen to him. He was very mature in making sure she had somebody if it couldn't be him.

Later, Lili & Shin found out Kit was still alive and it changed their widow/shared loss dynamic. I know she wasn't officially a widow because she & Kit were still in the flirting stages when Kit had to go away. However, it was similar in how she and Shin moved forward when they thought he was dead.

I thought making sure the person they had feelings for was taken care of was mature of them both. It was my favorite part. 🤣

I rarely post reviews but this anime was so freaking good that I had to. I love how mature and natural the storyline, the characters and their relationships were. Loved everything about it, just wish we’d gotten more content of Lili and Kit’s dating era, as well as the whole group back together for more shenanigans. Maybe a season 2?? I could watch another 100 episodes set in this world.

Art style, animation, coloring are 10/10. No doubt.

Lili is so cool. I really enjoyed her doubts, her passion, but she cannot really express herself re: Kit. Girl, we could've save some episodes with more talking...

Also Kit cannot express himself at all except painting. But I liked he got a little bit mature and talkative post-timeskip.

Love triangle: natural imo. The building, development and the final result of it.

All the characters are crafted with lot of care: the professor, the lady of the horrible fish pie; the designs are quite particular, specially of the gang.

Dorothy - Lily moments pre-timeskip are a gem. Also, Catherine as a character is sooooo cool. She deserved much more screen time!! Glad that she's still friends with Lili.

I believe post ep. 13 to say, the thing started to drag. Post timeskip (the first of many lol) was obvious for me that they gonna reunite so it felt a little boring... but also, it's life. Sometimes things are not a straight arrow, but a little complicated. Here, I feel things were too much complicated...

But I cannot forget the adventure this anime was. Ep. 1 with this version of London, the constant eye candy of Saint Thomas Academy, the first encounter of the lovers, the nights at the pub, the first lily valley night, the dance in the Church estate, Catherine and her painting... Really, really charming. As I said, later on wasn't thaaaat lovely for me, but still.

Overall I really really liked it, and will stay a good time in my heart.

I went to re-read Cat Street by Kamio Youko just to make sure that my memory of the writing in that manga was as good as I remembered it...and it was! Had some drama that I forgot about, but they were always resolved rather quickly and served well as experiences for the MC to learn from and grow. I wanted to mention this because I've seen Hana yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) being mentioned several times throughout the series on MAL and reddit, which imo, is not her best work (not that I've read anything else aside from that and Cat Street). After watching Prism Rondo, which I unfortunately had the expectation of the writing to be similar to Cat Street...I still think Cat Street is my favorite work from Kamio Youko. I wasn't expecting Prism Rondo to be inspirational like Cat Street, but I thought I'd get well-written and well-developed characters. I didn't feel like that I got that here at all. But that's just my view, and I'm glad a lot of people really enjoyed the anime!

I have to say, bless Shin. Seriously, what a great guy. I'm glad it seems like he found another love in the end ^^

As for Lili and Kit, I think in my mind, I could tell the reunion between them was beautiful, but I personally did not feel the emotions behind the scene, as I was never able to feel invested in the feelings they had for each other. I could feel it from Kit's side, but I wasn't convinced by Lili at all. Regardless of how I saw the relationship between the two, I'm still happy for them in the end.

I think the best parts of the show were the setting and the backgrounds, they were so beautiful and immersive. The quality of the series was amazing. My favorite part of the story has to when Catherine confronted Lili in Lili's bedroom. If anyone received character growth, it was Catherine, and it was really well done! I never would have expected that her jealousy came not from loving Kit, but from her love for the Silver Lily dress. And of course, gotta reiterate that I love Shin :D

I’m not really a fan of “love triangles” since one person has to get done dirty 😖, but I believe it was done beautifully here, Shin always knew Lily loved Kit and was willing to be there for her while she was grieving without taking advantage of her. Plus he ended up pursuing his dream and getting his happy ending :P

Joffrey is highkey the glue of the group, I love him for that.

They’re all amazing characters but Catherine!! I’m so so happy about her character development she’s the sweetest.

I do wish Dorothy took her own advice and confessed her love for Joffrey though, I understand she wanted to live in the countryside and raise a family, she only assumed Joffrey wanted to do the opposite.

Can’t forget about Peter 😼 relatable character, we all go through hardships and sometimes doubt our talents, luckily his friends were there for him.

Amazing anime I wasn't expecting to like it so much when I start watching, to be honest near the end I started to worry that the ending is going to ruin it all & make me put much lower rating that what I was planning but in the end I liked the ending so much that I rate it higher, Wit studio seriously did an amazing job with this project, the production values was nothing short of stunning! it felt like watching a movie the whole time, also Yoko Kamio crafted such a lovely story & characters, it was an unforgettable experience I'm sure the vast majority who are going to watch this anime are not going to forget it ever & every time they bring it to their minds they will have a big smile on their face, at least that's how I feel myself.

Never got the romance between Lily and Kit. It felt contrived and why did it take 20 episodes to tell each other that they love each other?

But wonderful production values just another example of style over substance.

Didn't realize that Yoko Kamio wass the one who wrote Hana Yori Dango. No wonder the story feels familiar.
The old tropes of romance anime was also there, from the pair can't be honest with their feeling to the forced love triangle.

What I don't like about old styled romance anime is, the author usually forget about the side characters the more it reach the end of story. It also happens in this anime.
Why Kit can travel as he pleases now, the war has died down but doesn't he still need to help his brother?
What happens to Sakura after Shin left her?
Why Dorothy's husband is not shown? Not showing reunion between Dorothy and her best friend?

It was pretty good at first when they are showing about arts and how people appreciate them.

Overall just okay, not good but not bad either.

An enjoyable ending, though not pulling anything risky at it. Not surprised that Lili is able to open her own boutique already in just a year, thanks to (once again) the best girl Catherine.

The last arc was insane.

Lily went back to Japan because of the war and had been engaged to Shin.
Kit got through a whole adventure novel in one episode lol
And all the time skips made me believe we might have needed 25 episodes?

And I really love how:
- there is no stupid jealousy drama between Shin and Kit, and no drama anymore between Catherine and Lily
- it's as romance as romance can get, but the men in there want the women to pursue their own interests first, and also they pursue their own interests first
- Catherine became my favorite character in this; it's rare to see romantic rivals playing out like that: she recognizes it's not Lily's or Kit's fault, but the sexist system of the aristocracy that had seen nothing more in her than "the wife of..."
- the friend group felt pretty real

Also loved how artsy the show has been!
Not only in themes, but it lived and showed their art theme.

The ending was really cute. Bit too kitschy, but still.
