This episode had the oldest cat in the show? That elderly cat had a lot of wisdom and had a lot of personality. What a way to go out at the end.

Such a beautiful but bittersweet episode.
The elderly cat had such a wonderful life and was able to pass away peacefully.

Any episode with an elderly character looking back fondly on their life tends to get an ugly cry out of me, it's just so bittersweet. What helps is that this anime is so good to begin with (and it being a cat) that made the emotions a bit stronger. Such a good anime.

Such a bittersweet episode...
Watching Pompura reminiscing about his life, his wife and his family.

So Mama-Nyan's family has around 10 generations as of this episode and she is still alive, I wonder how old she is

This has consistently been one of the sweetest and most satisfying anime of this season. Even if it is sometimes bittersweet.

I heartwarming look at the life of Elder Pompura from visiting the field of foxtails to reminece about Moshsmosha III (sandaime), a trip to the city's botanical gardens and the life he had with a wife, kittens, grand kittens and great grand kittens.

Gekkou looking so peacefully asleep when it was time for her did a bigger number on my heart than I was ready for.

And then there was the way the dragon knew it'd be Pompura's turn soon while he watches him say bye to his kids and grandkids. Man.

I think I'm prepared for this episode, but I'm still not ready after all.

I think the cat in this anime lives 10 times of normal cat, which mean around 130-200 years. Dragoncat and Demoncat probably 1,000+ years but technically they're not cats.

One episode left. This is undeniably a good anime but I'm not sure if I want SS2 or not. Sometimes it's better for anime to have only one season.

It was a great episode that actually made me cry a bit. I don’t usually mind emotional moments, but I really hate it when I end up crying! 🥺😥

My only real issue was the greenhouse design (shown in the attached image) and some of the fruits which are very hard to grow without the exact climate controls needed to help those plants in the first place. The Greenhouse design in particular looks far too modern for the main story's medieval, class-based setting. Aside from those couple immersion-breakers, it was a fantastic episode with excellent flashbacks that bridged beautifully into the present day.

@phantomfandom A normal Cait Sith lives about the same time as a housecat. The events currently being portrayed are about 60-90 years after the dragon was born.

Best episode, it was really sad but sweet, I am not ashamed to admit that it made me cry.
Old Pompora knew his time was up and wanted to relive his younger days at least 1 more time.
It was great seeing his memories from his younger days with Moshamosha III, his wife and his family.
It must be tough being Winged Uncle at times, he lives forever so he has to say goodbye to so many that he loves and cherishes.

10/10 beautiful episode. I may miss my cat, but I'll always cherish her memory fondly. Rest in peace, my precious Katinka, and rest in peace, Pomupura ❤️

Great episode. I noticed when marking it that MAL says this season is 12 episodes but Kitsu says it's 24. Anyone know which it is? Was there a recent announcement or something? I never noticed the difference before now so I wonder if Kitsu updated their data recently.

If you didn't know, grapes are even more deadly than chocolate to cats and dogs.

well... even if it is bittersweet... this episode gives us a little information about the lifespans of the forest cats. the present king was a young young man and a Prince when this elderly cat was a young teenaged cat getting into trouble all over the Capital. now that the king is an older fellow and has a teenaged son running amok around the world as an adventurer... this cat is a great granpa and quite elderly. so the forest cats have a MUCH shorter natural lifespan than a human does. this makes Winged Uncle's Mommy QUITE the peculiar matron! she has lived for hmm... i'm thinking a few centuries? maybe just the first one... but at least that long?
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

@Lumenesca I was tearing up more because it reframes the moment in the OP that had me confused, but it is still heart wrenching in a similar way to She and Her Cat, which I cannot watch the ED even without crying a bit. My first cat I got to choose was a black cat too

@Booxinton The awareness of death with these cats just reminds me of the stories of some cats in hospitals and such that seem to be able to tell when someone's time is up and they sit with them until they pass, very much like the one Justice League Unlimited scene with Batman and Ace. Iykyk.

Man, the ending really got me one this one, I barely held my tears in.
I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

What an emotional episode. It just shows the cycle of life: you are born, you live, you may love, and you will die. The way all the other cats realized what Pompora was doing by visiting them and wishing "a safe journey" as a goodbye, man, that was so emotional, and so beatiful. 10/10 for me ☺️

A few episode ago, at the visit of "Moma Cat", I thought it would be happening in the past, in a non-chronological order. But, after seing the preivous two episodes, it doesn't seen so. SOOOO: how old is she and her master? Her master doesn't seen any older than 30's. Maybe already on 50's and still looking young, but given how they talk about "things of the past" it may be even longer.

ANYWAYS, what I was hopping will happend next episode: we will see the story of those writings at the cards in the end of each episode, about the festival and the fireworks, at the next and final one of the season 😁

Time just flew by, this show was so amazing from start to finish

"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
