This episode at least didn't have a recap in the middle of it, and finally she will join the group, it's taking longer than expected for things to happen, but it's still fun, I only have one thing with him, these 3D scenarios are seriously ugly

Elymas has finally met the jester looking girl named Ruche that has been teased in the ED and I think she'll be in his party by the end of the next episode, at least I hope she joins by then. On that note I wonder what got him so excited about her skills, maybe she increases luck which may lead to finding more rare items which would explain her current party's success with getting that blood-soaked sword. But whatever the case may be I think her old party will regret treating her like trash.

oh my, talk about plot armor. he found a Luck Farmer like that? somebody who uses their Luck to basically 'pull the one-armed bandit' all the time and hope n pray that the RNG gives em ultra rare goodies and one shot kills instead of whiffing missed hits, old leather boots, cheap pots n pans, herbs, and other assorted noob items?

if his 'game' used that system? and somebody like him who is obsessed with the nitty-gritty nuts-n-bolts of everything in his 'game'... just suddenly crosses paths with the very singular person he needs to 'make money like a Zerox Machine'?? and he is the ONE DUDE who knows he just grabbed ahold of said photocopier that walks on two legs? ohhh boyyy... Necoco is one whacky and peculiar writer. or a total hack. i dunno which.

@Belleamenicole yeah, filling air-time with flashbacks and recaps is QUITE the underhanded and 'cheap studio' tactics that i thought GoHands would never become. i guess the ultra cool expensive looking rotoscoped backgrounding shots of the cityscape took up too much of their employees' time and operating budget to make good content for the rest of the episodes.

didja notice all the REUSED CROWD SCENES in this episode from previous episodes? same buildings. same mob characters. same JVA audio clips. same lighting. everything entirely and utterly cut n paste frame for frame. the dude that says "thanks dad!" and trots off carrying some cash in a sack that jingles. while dad says, "don't spend it all". the dad is sitting next to a foot pedal operated whetstone. the guy and girl who are accosted by the clown guy/pierrot in the middle of the road who dances around the couple making faces and jestering for them. the guy who walks past the camera ogling the girl walking the other way and he goes, "she's so hot! but outta my league." the kinda bandit looking creepy guy who is walking ahead of a tall beefy hefty guy with his arm around the neck of a smaller thinner guy looking like they're good buddies.

Finally found the clown girl in this episode-she looks like more of a ditz then shown in the op and the trailer. But how is my boy Elymas gonna find 55 million gold when he's barely scraping on 2 mil... interesting to see where this goes but it's p gonna be a LONGGG time before he gets 55 milli

That was just an awful episode. They basically had to put scenes of random streets, close up images of breasts and even straight up repeated some scenes. It feels like the producers rushed the artists.

@Hinken I noticed that, and it's fucking hilarious how often this episode switched to just random scenes of crowded streets or how much they showed scenes from previous episodes, or even repeated things from this same episode. And yeah they really had to focus on that one bitch's breasts towards the end, just to really pad things out and make sure people aren't tired of this XD

Actually wait no, I think it's worse than that...

According to this guy, they really did just copy and paste the same street scenes from previous episodes...

I do not like GoHands alr? I personally despise their style and I think the whole like "expensive rotoscoped" effect they go for looks horrendous, but I didn't think they'd just straight up copy and paste filler scenes from previous episodes like that. That's something I'd expect out of a cheap studio...

@Alkimia "That's something I'd expect out of a cheap studio..." yup, my sentiments exactly... GH used to be a very avant-garde, high priced, progressively technical/technological studio. Hand Shakers was doggone eyepopping awesome. but ever since Project Scared back in 2021... they've gone downhill rapidly.

i totally get how you don't like how they make stuff look. their 'style' is the same in SO many titles for SO many years that most otaku can see a still of something they've never ever even watched one bit of and say, 'Yep, that's a GoHands.'

if they keep whiffing titles like this? i think they're going to be relegated to 'supporting studio' in the near future and no IP owners are going to want GH as the 'main studio name' on the marquee.

@KiliianSleipnir Yep lol I think my first experience with GH was 'The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses', and like immediately I knew that it was not my cup of tea. I don't think I've seen anything else from them, apart from this one show that came out somewhat recently. I don't remember the name or even the plot, but I got one look at how the show looked and immediately knew it was GH, and I hated it. Didn't like how it was one of those shows with like ten different girls being introduced all at once either but yeah.

I just despise how they make everything look. I think their style is ugly, plain and simple. The glare, the way they use color, and then the faces... Ugh.

I'm already really not a fan of this story or any of these characters, but they just had to get GH to work on this too, and they just had to resort to copy and pasting filler scenes from previous episodes, along with resorting to flashbacks, just to really pad things out lol

But hey, this is life now... I'm committed to watching this dumpster fire all the way through, and the best part? This is going to be like 24-26 episodes apparently. Which btw I didn't even know until just recently. I thought this was going to be 12 episodes until the other day when I read it would be way longer than that. Because I guess this show just really needs those extra episodes! </3

A part of me hopes that happens man... I feel mean saying that, but like it would mean seeing their style less. And okay, putting my preferences aside for a moment, I think they're really fumbling the ball here by just straight up copying and pasting scenes from previous episodes, hoping that no one notices. It's just not something I expected out of them, and it just further adds to my frustration with this show so far.

I may check out Hand Shakers at some point though. Probably still won't like it but I would like to give it a chance at least.

@Alkimia i tried 'Losing Glasses'... and as somebody who has worn em since 1996... the baseline premise is moronic. whomever wrote that... seriously over over OVER emphasized the girl's brainlessness about the one thing that keeps her from being blinder than a bat wearing earplugs. so i dropped it quite early in its weekly run. if you are watching 'Rich Girl Caretaker' this season, the concept for 'Glasses' is similar but not quite exactly 1 for 1. the guy has to 'caretake' the girl because she's such a helpless fool. it is a peculiar crossover ROMCOM concept in otaku culture where being overly and overtly helpful to somebody who is cute and useless (like a puppy or a toddler) becomes a romantic relationship at some point. i get the concept, moe moe kyuu and all that... i don't like it personally as an American who was born WELL after the ladies here started exerting their independence and equality. i can definitely see that beyond the 'GH style', why somebody wouldn't want to keep going with 'Glasses'.

'Hand Shakers' is definitely better for episode content than 'Disinherited Knight', fewer wasted frames of repeated bullhockery, the story works and is interesting and original, yet of course visually it is GH so that will be an automatic negative for you... but go past 'The Three Episode Rule' and stick it out till you either can't stand it anymore for an eyeball self-gouging drop or you like it and keep going.

another one GH did that has massive story and a LONG franchise of titles is the 'K series' starting here

https://myanimelist.net/anime/14467/K

that story is LONG and DEEP! if you get into it? brace yourself for a long loooooong storyline. i gave part 1 there a 10/10 back as a weekly in 2012, if that's any help.

i personally think that Necoco (the author of the LN series for 'Disinherited Knight') should have seen 'GoHands' as the studio for this adaptation proposed in the negotiation phase for the anime... and nixed the offer. said, 'nope. no. never. find another studio or i'm pulling the plug right here and now.' because if EVERYBODY ELSE in the industry was too busy/overscheduled or wasn't interested in adapting the books? the author should have just waited it out for a better studio to get an opening in their plans or a newer/younger/less experienced studio wanted to give these books a go at it.

poor MC, dude has no idea he's getting scammed by that old lady.

she was about to say "worthless book", but then saw MC getting excited and up the price by like 100x lol.

(tho, this world he's in... sure is fucked up that nobles and church forcibly takes all the skill books so they can be the strongest and dominate over the lower class ppls) (but then again... this is a RPG style world with literal RPG mechanics... so it's already fucked up to began with, LOL)

And then we got the jester girl, who has a "broken skill", which I take it... it's a "rare item drop rate increase skill" (which a lot of action RPG like Diable, Path of Exile has, IE: PoE magic-find build, which is recommended for everyone to make a magic-find class simply for fast farming)

@KiliianSleipnir exactly! xD

I've been wearing glasses since like 2012 or 2013, and I don't see how anyone can forget their glasses like that. Like... You're blind without them. How do you just not notice that? Tbf I think she did have contacts, but even then, how do you not notice that you're completely blind. How do you walk around like that and not have an alarm go off in your brain telling you that you need your glasses.

And yeah I totally get that they're going for that completely useless/helpless girl thing, but man it's not for me lol I like cute girls in my anime, but not like that.

I will give it a shot! GH's style will most likely be an automatic negative for me but I'm willing to give it a chance if the plot is actually interesting and not just overdone fantasy trash. Definitely going to look into the 'K series' too!

Yep lol I'm pretty tired of shows with RPG mechanics, and really Elymas has kind of sucked as a main character so far, but I feel like this wouldn't be as bad if this wasn't going at a snail's pace, and wasn't copying and pasting the same scenes across multiple episodes.

@Alkimia 'living a [new] life within a game' isn't as... prevalent... today as the mad rush surrounding 'The SAO Era' was. well... starting with .hack//Sign and definitely ramping up because of SAO. Overlord always comes to mind. because today the "high fantasy" AKA "epic fantasy" anime have gone beyond, sometimes WELL beyond 'The RPG Mechanics Are Overflowing' trope. Clevatess, Frieren, Silent Mage, Old Country Bumpkin Blademaster, JoblessReincarnation, The Frontier Lord Starts With Zero Subjects, Faraway Paladin, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Classroom of a Black Cat and Witch, ReZero, The Cat and the Dragon, Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for the Throne, Sentenced to be a Hero, the list is growing every season. yes, we get shows that use it hard like Hell Mode, Exiled Knight, The Villager of Lvl 999... but i think the marketplace for the 'RPG Mechanics' heavy shows is self-adjusting to a more moderate even straight fantasy type of storytelling.

So you’re telling me that in this fifth episode, where there’s supposedly a ton of stuff to cover, the episode is literally just the main character going to two shops, talking to two girls, witnessing one random scene in some alley… and that’s it? That’s the whole episode?

Don’t you think there’s a serious pacing problem between these episodes?

What the hell is this pacing? When was the last time I watched an anime with pacing this catastrophically bad?
