| Wow he actually managed to get through an entire conversation with Yamada without losing it. And he actually showed a little personality with his drawings and that cigarette-choosing trick. The bar is pretty low for this guy but I guess it's something. He also looks good with his hair down; it's more generic but still nice for a change. Thank god we got to see more of Gotou this episode, she's honestly the only thing keeping me invested |

| SHE LEFT HER MARK ON HIM Review : Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Episode 5 | 8.2 ⭐ Another excellent episode that gives Sasaki and Tayama’s relationship a clear sense of progression, with their growing closeness now feeling more natural and established than ever. DIRECTION: 8/10 What I loved most was how clearly every new step in Sasaki and Tayama’s growing closeness could be felt. The chosen angles constantly play with the distance between them, making their teasing feel like a genuine game of seduction. This is especially effective when Tayama draws on Sasaki, where the framing makes their new physical proximity impossible to miss. Even the cigarette-pack scene inside the supermarket adds something meaningful to that gradual approach. By the end, simply watching the space between them disappear was enough to make their growing attraction genuinely exciting for me. PRODUCTION: 8/10 I loved how the animation gives meaning to even the smallest gestures. Sasaki’s posture and increasingly heavy movements make his exhaustion easy to feel, while every glance, hesitation and change in expression brings Tayama’s embarrassment to the surface. The drawing scene is a perfect example: her hand movements, the way she leans toward him and Sasaki’s immediate reactions make their playful exchange feel genuinely alive. Even during the quieter conversations, their bodies and faces continue to react, preserving the natural chemistry between them. The drawings remain clean and consistent throughout. The result is visually simple but always expressive, making their fatigue, awkwardness and closeness fully tangible. WRITING: 8/10 What I enjoyed most was how naturally every interaction brought Sasaki and Tayama closer without forcing a major romantic breakthrough. Their usual teasing gradually becomes more intimate, especially when Tayama uses the drawing as an excuse to invade Sasaki’s personal space and leaves him completely flustered. The cigarette pack creates another playful exchange inside the supermarket, turning something ordinary into a new part of their growing flirtation. Sasaki’s exhaustion also gives Tayama the opportunity to show genuine attention, while her own embarrassment reveals that she is no longer completely in control of the game. She still leads and he remains wonderfully awkward, but seeing her lose composure made the balance between them feel genuinely different. By the final cigarette ritual, I felt as though I was watching a new habit that belonged only to them take shape. IMPACT: 9/10 What pushed this episode to a 9 for me was how much the anime added to material I already knew from the manga. The acting made every exchange even more enjoyable, while the conversations genuinely held my interest. I also loved the additional energy brought by the more active sequences, with the animation delivering whenever the episode needed it. All of these elements accumulated throughout the episode and made the adaptation feel valuable in its own right. By the end, I was not merely satisfied with what I had watched; I genuinely wanted to see what would happen next. CONCLUSION At 8.2/10, this is a confident and fully satisfying episode. From beginning to end, everything comes together naturally and makes the experience feel complete. | Tayama's 24, I was younger than her when I started the manga but now while the anime is airing I'm older, sad. Fun interactions again and Sasaki's surprisingly good at drawing while Tayama sucks. Ossan got to see Yamada in casual clothes, must feel elated. |

| Sasaki’s drawings of the Manager and Tayama were surprisingly good! The one of the Manager was especially funny, though. I wasn’t expecting him to be that talented, especially when it comes to capturing her expression so perfectly. |
