Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Mumei Ranman

This short promotional clip to both commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the original series and promote a new figure is quite a welcome surprise for fans of Kabaneri. It surprisingly advances the overall plot more than the Battle of Unato despite having very few characters show up. The animation is as sumptuous as Wit Studio is known for although it focuses a lot on fan service (which is part of the figure it is showcasing). The voice acting and characters are on point too. It's clear there's still love for this franchise within the studio so hopefully there will be a proper continuation of ... the series soon.

Apparently, they released a five-minute YouTube video mainly to promote a ¥35,000 Mumei figure. For a series that deserved more episodes, another season and an actual continuation, it feels less like a celebration and more like an insulting final cash grab.

The video itself does not really move the story forward. Mumei and Ikoma are still on the train, there is barely anything shown outside, and nothing important seems to happen. Ikoma is just getting flustered around Mumei and for good reasons ofcourse. Mumei looks very sexy and the animation is polished, especially how her boobs are jiggling they made me interested for sure. Imagine what ... they could do if they had an actual proper anime going on. But thats it for the video really. There is no continuation, no explanation of what happened after the previous story, and no sign that the series is finally returning.

I would not recommend watching the five-minute video unless you want to see Mumei's body and want to purchase a figurine for a series they never bothered to properly continue.
