Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.

Jun Naruse is a chatterbox whose life is colored by fairy tales and happy endings. However, influenced by her deep belief in those tales, she is too naive and trusting, and her words soon shatter her family's bond when she inadvertently reveals her father's affair. Naruse is scarred for life after being blamed for her parent's divorce, and her regrets soon manifest into a fairy egg—a being who seals her mouth from speaking in order to protect everyone's happy ending.

Now, even in high school, Naruse's speech remains locked by the fairy egg. Even trying to speak causes her stomach to twist. Though unable to convey her thoughts through words, she is unexpectedly chosen to perform in a musical alongside three other students: Takumi Sakagami, Natsuki Nitou, and Daiki Tasaki. Naruse makes her way to the club room to reject the daunting task, but changes her mind when she overhears Sakagami's beautiful singing.

Perhaps the fairy egg "curse" does not apply to singing, and perhaps Sakagami is the fairy tale prince she has been seeking all along. Will Naruse be able to convey the anthem of her heart?

Have you ever thought about how your words can hurt others, even if it was not your original intention? The scar you've given them once can never properly heal again.

Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda is the portrayal of such a realization. Naruse Jun, a very talkative girl whose mouth knows no bounds, never cared for the consequences her words could bring. She finally faced the reality through the harsh incident of her family breaking apart. Then a mysterious phenomenon occurred, and she wished for her mouth to be sewn to prevent further casualties, locking away the ability to properly express herself ever again.

Our main character ... had faced something similar(although not the exact one), and I love how he tried to help Narisu as he saw his own despair in her. This show had four main casts, and they all shared good stories of realizing their own shortcomings. Each of them had their own guilt, and they were able to go past it through their interactions with each other. I loved the moment when the mc said, "It's never 100% the fault of one person" and "Show me the words inside your hearts". Those were such deep lines that depict how not being able to fully express oneself can be painful. No one is without faults, but being able to accept that is the most important thing.
To talk about the animation, it was superb, as expected from A-1 Pictures. I loved the music of this movie, all of them were great.

Overall, the movie managed to convey the message of self-realization pretty well.

8/10 from me.

Mixed Feelings

You know those generic school dromcoms about the cast putting on a meta play? This wants to be The Little Mermaid with a meta story of The Little Mermaid inside it (not to mention that the story framework of Anthem of the Heart is shamelessly derivative of Whisper of the Heart).

The crux of the movie's premise falls to watching assholes abuse a child in the most suspension of disbelief breaking nonsense way possible to which the child just accepts it as completely reasonable/true... Not a great start to a story. And this event of abuse is never addressed again despite the narrative attempting a character ... redemption of 1 of the abusers while brushing the underlying issues and abuse aside as totally fine (the other abuser ceases to exist). Jeez.

There's an entire barely connected sports subplot with an entirely unconnected group of characters that goes nowhere but at least connects to another entirely pointless romance subplot of 2 characters who... are dating... that's it.

So much of the plot from start to finish is devoted to artificial 1-sided romances that waste time before shoving pairings together that had 0 chemistry-romance throughout... this isn't a bad+good combo ending like the musical bad+good combo ending parallel (the author) intends it to be... this is just a terribly dumb tacked-on main cast coupling ending cliche after a dumb mermaid nonromance waste of time I'd have expected from a bad Shinkai movie instead. This is one of the most Shinkai nonshinkai movies (except you can tell it isn't Shinkai because some of the characters actually have characterization).

The art/animation is high quality but there's almost no cinematography nor interesting visuals, just more cliched school/kids/town. (jesus christ with the eggs everywhere, a bit of subtlety would be nice you know, I'm sure you could come up with literally any other symbolism from time to time).

I wish there was a dub, some of these subtitle translations are wack.

At least it was mostly fine with nothing else too bad.

4/10 (where 5/10 is average) At least it's better than Komi-san.

If you want to watch an anime with plots that blow your brain then you should watch this anime but if you want to keep your brain than don’t:


The first start of this anime is quite good because of the pain that main character Jun has to suffer but i don’t like the egg thing because it’s nonsense they just could let her like feel guilty and swear to herself that she will never speak too much to hurt people around her

In the middle part i really feel Jun and Takumi are connecting to each other, they have the same situation and have their ... own pain that make them don’t want to make it happen again and i almost feel Nito and Tazaki might get together because they are all the loser in love BUT the end fucked everything


The end is fucked up because it turn Jun into a brat and Takumi into an idiot that can’t get over his ex and what kind of Gf afraid to accept that they are dating, in the castle scene I thought this is the time that 2 MC get together but no after Jun being a brat again to try to hurt Takumi with nonsense words and he accepts but when she tell him she loves him then he just say ‘No, i still love my ex thank you for telling your feelings but I’m sorry’ not just that i don’t understand why the fuck did Tazaki decided to confess his feelings for Jun bro you don’t close to her you know nothing about her WTF is this kind of ending I thought Takumi understand Jun but nooo he still says she is a traitor WTF this ending make all the character become shity person even Nito she just being a fake Bitch she said she gonna encourage 2 MC but still giving hint to Takumi


Overall this anime is wasted of time those review giving ten is nonsense or maybe they only watch anime and never watch any Romantic Hollywood movies before even Lalaland have a sad ending but it’s still give me the satisfy 2hours longer than Your Name and ways longer than Garden of Word but still end up like shit
